Mission Details!

Almost time for our first release of 2013! To mix it up, the focus of this wave is concentrated on select figures, as the Gendrones are taking a little break from the action after protecting the Council.

A special "Mini" Blocker Rig marks the return of some vinyl outside of the Syclodoc/Armodoc mold. This Blocker configuration dates all the way back to last year, when I was first building with the Block. Maybe it's the compact look of the parts all tightly packed together, but for some reason I really like the idea of smaller Mini Rigs.

As mentioned before, the old Adventure People line is the main inspiration for this assortment. The simple color schemes, durable figures and fantastic vehicles (like the Firestar 1) have influenced many toy lines over the years, particularly the one we have here.

I could go on about it forever and bore you all to tears, so let's get to the list!

The following are scheduled to be in the store on Friday, February 1st at 9:30PM EST.

There will be purchasing limits on select items:

-Armorvor (2 limit per customer)

-Travelers (3 of each style per customer)

-Syclodoc (2 limit per customer)

Also, due to the particularly unique hue of the yellowish orange parts, they get the nickname Yellorange, because typing creamsicle too many times makes me hungry.

Of note is the Neo Phase Pheyden MK II's specific tint. Much like the neon pink from the last wave, this plastic behaves in odd ways depending on the light source it's viewed under. It can look super clear like in the pictures above, or almost frosted by the light of the computer monitor. It also packs that extra neon punch which you really have to see in hand to fully appreciate.

The gray PVC is a bit lighter and a different hue than the grays we have done before. Yet another color that can shift pretty drastically based on the lighting. Personally, I think it may be my favorite gray tone yet.

The new Syclodoc will be revealed over at the great Phil Reed's Battlegrip.com this coming week, as he inspired its color combo!

Thanks for reading yet another text pile up, and we hope you find something you like in those pics up there.

PS -Michelle refers to Exellis with the reversed scarf on (a nod to Aves) as "Lips Exellis", which I now cannot unsee. Thanks lady!

  1. The Armorvor looks incredible in that color scheme. And I'm not (yet) a Glyos collector outside of those, but they all very tempting.

    1. Thanks Ed! The wolf head it comes with is brown (pics this week) and when that head is on it gives the design a more classic BB vibe.

  2. Spectacular set of figures this time 'round, Matt! And thank you for lowering the price on the painted Hub Sets! This will make creating Phase Defenders much easier, no doubt!

    1. Thanks Roy! I like the Hub Sets at the same price as the Axis Joints and I'll keep the numbers the same as long as I can.

Funny how a little paint adds a small touch of character, even to a drone.

    2. Never mind the nice touch it gives to the Phase Arms. Having to buy a replacement hard drive yesterday is gonna make this drop a little tighter than I'd like, but you know there'll be something coming my way outta this run.

By the way, these colors are a dead ringer for what we saw of the old Gobon prototype, once upon a time. Was that also a nod to the Adventure People line back then, or is this a dual homage now?

    3. Sorry to read about the hard drive pain, I'll make sure some "stowaways" make it your way to help install the new parts.

The original yellow that Gobon was on track to roll out in was more of a true pale yellow, much in the same hue as the Beanborg Beanbot we did for Beantown Toys back in the day. In Michelle's original drawings Gobon was actually red!

I do think this color will end up on a Gobon at some point though.

    4. I'll make it up to you in Criff Dogs in a coupla weeks, Matt. A man's generosity should at least be paid back in foodstuffs.

And dang, I didn't even realize that the older protos were the same color as the Beandroid. Speaking of, I saw those old drawings when they were posted on the blog a little while back, and you bringing it up right now just popped another question into my head: what're the odds we'll see that original red/silver Gobon scheme in, say, a metallic red? Of all the colors you've got left...

    5. Looking forward to a food crawl! Maybe some new food trucks will be around to add to the craziness.

Metallic Red is on deck for 2013, and Gobon will absolutely be rolling out in that color!

    6. Great news! Even better if it matches the lighter metallic blue of the Gendrone Legion stuff.

Thanks for the info, the generosity, and te great toys besides, Matt! Not that you'll need it for this crop of colorways, but the best of luck on this drop!

    8. As long as Nino's still makes everything the same way, I'll be happy. They make the greatest pizza on this planet!

    1. Thanks Dex! I think you are the only person I've ever met who likes green even more than I do! Ha!

The effect of the neon in the PVC adds such a strange dimension to the tinted clears, it makes me want to do everything in this style.

  4. I was pumped about the yellow white but I'm really loving the grey. Does it match the grey armorvor from a little while back?

    1. Hey Rez! This grey is a little darker than the grey Armorvor (which was Cool Grey 8). The hues are similar though, as this new one is Cool Grey 10, which is technically the same as our usual detail line color.

      Thanks!

  5. Fantastic line up. Loving all the colors and combinations. Love the Sarvos especially and the Mini Rig. will be picking up much this weekend. I never collected Adventure People, but I love the colors!!

    1. Thanks Rich! You should track down some Adventure People if you want to check out some truly classic toys. There is something very pure about their general designs. Everything from the figure sculpts to the extremely interactive vehicles still capture the magic of what makes a toy fun.

  6. Fantastic looking drop! Will there be extra heads with the Travelers?

    1. Thanks Pete! The Sarvos and Pheyden will each come with an extra head. A white Phanost with Arclurran and a white Scar Pheyden head with Lorsailus.

Neo Phase MK II and Exellis do not come with extra heads, but Exellis does come with a scarf. Neo Phase just comes with Traveler attitude. Ha!

  8. I'm glad there's no Phaseons, so I can round out my collection with some other stuff for once! I was hoping to get two Sarvos and six Phase Sets, to make some of the awesome builds of old, such as the configuration of my favourite CC, Primebotos. Unfortunately, since those two extra hip pieces are expensive, buying a whole other Sarvos, I ended up a dollar short of shipping. Heh, maybe some other day, then. XD

But that leaves plenty of room for a grey Deep Space Glyan! I love the Sonesidar grey, especially combined with green, and the Mini Blocker Rig is pretty adorable! Surprisingly, I really like these colours without detail lines. It's something I'd grown so accustomed to on Glyos toys, I didn't expect them to look so good without them. They actually might be better without them, at least these colours are.

Excited about the upcoming metallic red, looking forward to the drop, and hoping that Syclodoc isn't a Shocklodoc. Hopefully the orders will get shipped out within about a week, so I can look forward to a new Pocket Traveler (and Glyans) on my birthday.

    1. I'm happy you like the PVC without the detail lines, it's fun to change it up sometimes.

If you dig purple then you will like the new Syclodoc.

The grey in this wave lends itself to cross building with almost any color. It's slightly darker than the Zorennor grey.

  9. Excavation division? Hmmm... Funny how this blog post went up tonight as my wife and I were watching Warehouse 13. So now it's stuck I'm my head that the Sonesider Excavation Division hunts down artifacts imbued with different types of cosmic power. Some artifacts contain power that is naturally occurring while other, more sinister objects, come from or obtained their power from the Zorennor Rift.

Now I can't wait to get my hands on these even more!

Also need to figure out how to make the Adventure People moon buggy...

  10. these colorways are nice... I knew you were going to pay homage to the Adventure people soon... I still have one floating about, somewhere...

I'm in love with the deep space glyans... they are a masterpiece in this colorway...

I might end up with that mini-rig, it reminds me of the old Star Wars mini-rigs which I suspect was part of the point

when are you coming in February?

  11. Nate! Unless something gets in the way, we'll be down on the 9th for the 4H show.

  13. Ah-HAH! THERE'S the Gray/Green-Visored Hub set I've been waiting for! :-D I love gray & green together, just an awesome color match-up. I know I'll be purchasing hub sets for use on future Ston'emm releases plus for another new project I'm working on. Loving the colorways in this wave. I'm digging that Mini-Rig too, I always liked small little 1-man vehicles.

I almost completely forgot about the next 4H show, glad people started talking about it to remind me. Beth & I will be attending Toy Fair 2013 for all 4 days so it'll be a very busy week for us. This will kinda be like 'NYCC: Micro Edition' as we'll get to see everybody again. Last year's show I got lost due to my crappy direction sense, but since Beth we should get there on time. Totally have to do Criff Dogs again as well. :-D

    1. So what does "4H" mean to East-coasters? Here in Kansas, 4H is an agricultural society for children and teenagers. We frequently have 4H shows, even in my industrialized city, but they're always at the fairegrounds showing off livestock and food and arts/crafts.

      Delete
    2. "4H" isn't a coastal thing; it's just an abbreviation for the Four Horsemen, the toy sculptors extraordinaire who, among other things, have been responsible for bringing the Outer Space Men back.

(For the record, we have 4H over on this side of the continent as well!)
