There will be a surprise or two on Friday night, just to keep things interesting!

This release will feature the debut of our new Swing Joint Sets, available in three colors. The black will be offered at a special price of $3 USD to help get the ball rolling. Pics of some new Contained Builds incorporating the Swing Joints will be posted up tomorrow.

This Warm Grey color has now taken the number one spot for me as far as greys go. The Cool Grey hues were always my favorite, but after playing and building with the Warm Grey I started to really appreciate the look that using this color delivers. Sort of like the old Lego warmish grey blocks from when we were younger (well most of us), not to mention a ton of other references from toys to movies. I particularly love this grey when mixed with the white from the last drop. Some very Ralph McQuarrie/Joe Johnston Concept Boba looking builds spring from the Warm Grey and White mix.

The bright red pays homage to everything from Fisher Price to the spacesuits in 2001: A Space Odyssey, and of course that old Sincroid we call Aves.

Hope you guys have fun with this round, and see something that makes you smile, especially after yesterday.

    1. Thanks Pete! One of the surprises may have something to do with Exellis....

  3. Love, love , love the grey. May be my new favorite color. This line up looks great. Was wandering who the next "Neo" figure would be...glad to see it is Aves considering I just picked up an original over the week end! Syclodoc is awesome, my favorite yet. Looking forward to Friday night! Can't wait to see these surprises.

Glad to see that everyone in your neck of the woods is "okay." That's some horrible stuff, even worse when it's in your backyard so to say.

    1. I'm happy you like the new pics! The red is extremely rich in hue and really pops when in hand.

The Syclodoc pays homage to the knockoff Shockwave that Radio Shack sold back in the 80's. Thought it would be appropriate after the last color we released.

Thanks for your concern about our crew, we all truly appreciate it up here.

    1. Thanks!

What's the latest on your GOBOIDS project? I was thinking about it just yesterday and how I love those giant flying brains!

  5. The new Contained Builds are a great continuation of the Glyanauts from years (!) passed, and the little buggy builds are well-done, especially in terms of variety! Still, I'd love to see how a massive Contained Build using two sets of each accessory pack would turn out. Phase Constructor? Hubikoma?

Thanks for the update, Matt! Whatever may happen, that we keep moving forward, more mindful of each moment, is what may find in us and around us hope for a better tomorrow.

    1. Thanks Roy! I have a few larger Contained Builds that will surface soon.

The "Combo Suits" in the top pic are pushing the beef factor of the Quick Suits a bit more with addition of the Swing Joints.

A funny aspect of these specific builds is that they were spawned from an old Villser idea, which was the genesis point for the Axis Joints and SwIng Joints. In a way these are kind of like half Villser Suits!

    2. So, wait, does that mean that the Phaseons are also forbidden from using Swing Joints? Or will the Villser "origins" not go that far as to affect the story?

Not that it'll stop me, of course. You know I'm gonna go nuts with these joints regardless of what the Renegades say. :P

  6. I'm reminded of a scene from the series 'Exo-Squad': the planet Mars was destroyed and reduced to an asteroid belt by Phaeton, the leader of the Neo-Sapeins. Some time late in the series, the character Algernon uses an invention of his and is able to reconstitute Mars back into a whole world. Even though I've not seen the series in years, I remember him speaking over the animation of the planet Mars reforming and saying:

"Phaeton thought that destroying a planet would be the ultimate display of power, that was his lack of imagination. The ultimate power is the power of creation."

I'm reminded of this scene every time I see people destroying things, or hurting people. Anyone can take a hammer and knock down a house, but not everyone can build one with it. Despite what some people may want to do, you inspire creativity & imagination in others Matt, there are very few people on the planet who have the gift that you have. So, do not feel uncomfortable for posting this, with the business aspect aside, you are creating toys to make people happy & succeeding at it 100%.

As for the items in this drop, I'm really, really REALLY liking that Sarvos. The colors very much remind me of a spider, so he'll be 'Spider-Sarvos' to me for quite a while (hmm...perhaps it's time for me to sculpt up that Canne'spider figure I'd thought of last year?). The red is really awesome, very much reminds me of Maximillian from 'the Black Hole'. Oh & now that the scarf is red, Exellis really DOES look like he has big lips LOL. Definitely going to have to buy a bunch of swing-joints, I'm eager to try them out. The builds on those little spider-bots are amazing & I really like the bulked-out gray DSG in the 1st picture.

Looks to be another winner Mr. Doughty, I hope there will be enough swing-joints for everyone as I'm sure they'll fly out of the store. O_O

    1. Thanks for the great response, Chris. You are, as always, way to kind with your words.

You are the real dynamo of creativity, and the figures that you have created populate my desk and multiple room of our house.

It's a real dream that we all get to make toys that can connect with each other. As the family of artists grows, our collective universe of imagination becomes stronger and more fascinating to explore.

I've said it before, and I believe it more now than ever, but this is only fun because we do it together!

  7. Any chance we could see a couple of pictures of the colors from this drop combined with colors from the last drop prior to the drop?

These look fantastic, just trying to plan what to get more of and what to get less of based on what I already have picked up :)

Thanks as always, these toys bring a sense of wonder, fun, and security in a world that increasingly lacks it!

    1. Thanks Rez!

I'll get a pic of the last wave mixed with this wave posted for you this week.

I have a feeling that you will find some innovative uses for the Swing Joints. They actually make for neat blasters and "Predator" type backpack zappers.

  8. Matt, Red and Gray are my two favorite colors, and with that said, you knocked this drop out of the EFFIN' PARK. I got GIDDY when I saw that red Glyan. That's me. That's me in the Glyos universe. The Armodoc kicks tail, the Mini-Rig is so cool... I was planning on spending a LOT on this already, but now I have to get damn near all of it. Yeesh!

  9. Also just want to say that I'm very happy to see that the black Glyan IS Cane(the EMD black one was my first Glyos figure, needed an update), and I must express one tidbit of disappointment. I was really hoping for a red Pheyden. Still, this drop is crazy awesome and I am currently calculating the amount I'm spending... Probably more than ever before. :)

    1. Thanks Micheal!

Red is a rarer color for us, so when it does roll out, nailing the hue can be a mind flaying exercise! Our factory really nailed this one though, capturing a very classic "toyetic" red hue.

I was obsessed with fire engines when I was young, and any related toy that I could get my hands on. Because of this, I'm overly critical of red tones when it comes to plastic production. I can honestly say that this is my favorite red that we have ever run up to this point (even though it's close to our old Buildstation red), so reading that you like the looks of this stuff makes me psyched!

  10. This looks great, Matt! I just have one question; Is the black in this wave the same shade as the one used in the Hades Force drop?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks! This black has a little more shine to it, and is just a touch darker.

    2. If you've ever seen the show "Archer", the other color is a "slightly darker black". ;-D

  11. The new grey looks to be a winner! I've currently been rewatching the entire Battlestar Galactica series, so I'm definitely in the mood for the down and dirty sci-fi feel of this drop.

    1. Thanks Astro! Which series of Galactica? Old or new?

  14. Loving the grey scheme! Finances are tight, but I'll definitely be getting a REC Glyan. (Not to mention a few black Swing Joints)

I'm curious about those question marks under the Neo Aves Exelips, and happy to see Aves' colours return! Though we need some white gloves and boots for the sincroid.

    1. I'm happy you like that grey! It seems to flow pretty good when building with a variety of colors.

The white from the last drop works well if you want an old school style Aves. This grey is kind of interesting as well when paired with the Aves Exellis.

  15. Matt everything looks amazing as always. You inspire everyone who knows you in a way that I have never experienced before. Looking forward to Friday as always.

One question to help planning, I am assuming that the swing joints come in packs of two correct?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thank you! I hope you and the boys discover something fun within the new parts.

Each Swing Joint Set has 2 assemblies that consist of a 3 part construction each, along with 6 additional Switch Pins for a total of 12 pieces per set.

We'll get a diagram of exactly how the parts break down posted up tomorrow morning.

  16. Hi there! I'm a little new to the Glyos world and don't know all the lingo. What is the red astronaut looking guy that's pic is 3rd from last?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That would be a Deep Space Glyan (DSG), a Contained Build using one Glyan figure and one Hub Set. Hope this helps!

      Delete
    2. It does somewhat :) Is a Hub set the helmet and backpack only?

      Delete
    3. Sort of. If you check out the Archive and scroll to the bottom, you can see some examples of standalone Hub Sets. They're quite useful for building, as you might imagine!

      Delete
    4. Looks like Roy has you covered here, Dex! The Hub Sets will be available on Friday and come assembled as little drones. The parts can beef up standard figures and also be combined with other accessory sets to create what we call "Contained Builds", which use every piece of said sets.

Maybe poke around the blog and click on the Contained Build tag over there on your right.

      Thanks Dex!

Thanks to you as well Roy!

    5. Thanks! It's still a bit confusing but I'm sure after enough exposure I'll pick up the lingo.

  17. What a great looking bunch!
Always nice to see a new incarnation of Operator Cane.
I hope there will be plenty of swing joints, because I'm planning to buy more than a few.

    Come on Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  18. NO! Why do I have to be at a concert when this drop happens? I guess it would be silly to waste a $76 ticket just to be able to try and buy what I want from here, right?
I'm especially sore that a Black/Red Armorvor is coming out, which is my most anticipated color.
Oh well, good luck everyone on getting what you want.

    ReplyDelete
  19. crap... I think I'm going to end up missing this drop... I'm busy on friday night

    no swing joints for me

    ReplyDelete
  20. So how many joints are in each Swing Joint set? It says 6 piece and 6 pins. Is that 2 complete joints or 3?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That would be 2 complete joints - two parts for each hinge, plus 2 90-degree bends.

Matt -- could I ask you for a picture of a Swing Joint next to the Hub Set shoulder/hip piece?
