Mega Merge

Over the last week, a new Glyos based crossover project we've been working on has finally surfaced online, that being Mega Merge. This collaborative effort came about thanks to our old friend, Jesse DeStasio (Knights of the Slice monarch), and his long standing relationship with toy manufacturer, Just Toys International. After many discussions and brainstorming sessions over the last year and a half, our three groups ultimately united to bring the Mega Merge brand to life.

The Onell Design end of the Glyoverse has quietly operated along the edges of an industry that focuses almost entirely on popular licensed properties. Though we are completely dedicated to creating original material, we also have a passion for the classics, and have mixed many tributes into the DNA of our releases over the years. Through teamwork with some of our great partner companies, we've even been lucky enough to work directly on a few legitimate classic property relaunches as well.

Though it's fun to visit the worlds of officially licensed characters, the general direction of Glyos around these parts remains grounded in the weirdo stories that we've been exploring for the last decade. Our new cousin, Mega Merge, on the other hand, will be focused exclusively on licensed stuff, particularly characters from video games, both old and new.

Long time Glyos builders may not immediately be into every technical design decision made with Mega Merge, as the primary directive with this new line is to capture the authentic look and feel of the licensed character first, not just to turn out a super parts-optional figure. That being said, there are actually many cool combinations that can be achieved with what's available just within the first Fallout selections, you just need to approach the building process from a different angle.

The pricing is super competitive with Mega Merge, with the initial offerings landing at only $10 USD per character. This is a major boon for the project, and a lot of work went into nailing that price point for the debut rollout.

If you dig what you've seen so far, maybe give it a shot. Some solid expansions are in the works, and if things shake out the right way, we could see some really fun vintage waves surface along with the current modern properties -and they'll all be fully Glyos compatible.

You can find the first wave for pre-order here.

Thanks for checking things out!

  1. Awesome! I am digging these figures and would love to see a parts breakdown on them. The fact that you guys are spreading Glyos outwards to other things is a great growth for you guys. When I can walk into TRU and find toys with the Glyos logo on the packaging, that will just blow my mind.

Oh and teething is horrible as Toby woke up at like 6am and thus is why I am even here to read this LoL.

I hope this Mega Merge line is successful, I would love to see you guys tackle other video game properties from over the years.

  2. Nice teaser, by the way. Dig the little paint application on Argen's "mouthplate."

So these also have a connection at the knee joint? A few of the folks on the forum were worried that the legs would be just one piece, based on the "exploded" diagram on the back of the box...

    1. I will admit, I’m one of the squeaky wheels on the forum, but seeing that there’s a knee joint reaffirms my excitement, I do love that Doombot green and silver combo. Pre-ordered!

Also, holy hell I’m psyched to see more figures in that green! Argen looks great, interesting paint accents on selected parts. Two tone green now I see what you meant by more real type!

    2. I think the key thing to remember here is we are servicing an existing IP, so a lot of the articulation / cuts / compatibility is not decided by Matt or myself, it's dictated by the character design and ultimately by the licensor. We wouldn't be able to play in the sandbox of some of these great game titles if we veered too far from the in-game models. That being said, creative builders will find and entire new library of unique parts at their disposal.

    3. Totally makes sense, though I'm surprised that some of the KotS-style joints didn't work their way in there.

Congrats on this new project, by the way!

  4. The more parts, the merrier! I'm excited to grab a couple of these guys and mix them in.
Congratulations on the new collaboration! I really hope these catch and bring a whole new audience into the glyos fold.

  7. It's always a good thing to see Glyos expanding. Not good for my wallet though 😀.

I'm also excited to see green again! I'm hoping that means my beloved RF gets that shade as well...

  9. Already pre-ordered. :)

Super thrilled to hear the RF and Zeroid will be getting a military green release. Will there also be green Glyarmor Glyan for a possible darkness build to join them?

    1. Two versions of Volkriun Glyarmor will be available:

-Extra paint style Traveler-based "Commander" type

-Basic paint style Glyan-based "Heavy Armored" type (like the Esedeth editions-but this one comes packed with a matching Darkness Soldier head)

The new wave follows closely along the lines of the 2016 Esedeth assortments as far as mold selections go.

    2. Dream come true to see some new Darkness Soldier action! Will we be seeing a full assortment of Gendrones this round, Phaseon, Gobon? Please tell me we'll be getting swing and axis joints in that green!?!

    3. Gobons and Phaseons are sitting this one out, but a full selection of accessories will be available in the Volkriun green.

  10. I'm really excited about the Mega Merge concept coming up. Especially the potential "merging" between the Glyos world and licensed lines. Congrats, Matt!

Also love the return of Volkriun! It was my first drop back in 2012 and the one that sucked me into the world of Glyos. If this is anything like what we saw in the Esedeth drop I'm in big trouble!

    1. To my understanding- Gamestop has a window of exclusivity on the launch of this line, the distribution will expand worldwide soon after.
