  1. I'm guessing the suggestion by others of "Mantech" is pretty close to the mark. Will there be any 'vortech or Robo'tech included?

Can't wait to see the new Mystery figure. The last one will be hard to top. That was a beautiful homage all around.

    1. Though we love Mantech over here, this tribute is to something even more obscure and physically smaller in scale. It seems that folks growing up on the East Coast had more exposure to this foreign line than the rest of the country.

There is definitely another Mystery figure in the assortment that should help us get one step closer to a complete sub-set of AP Space!

  2. I'm loving the color scheme of the teal and metallic sea green, any chance we'll be seeing some translucent colors return? Vossarica would be awesome with the Glyan mold!!! Also curious, those look like visor masks, we looking at more Glyarmored adventurers?

    1. No translucent stuff in this round, but you will see a bit of metallic action and some slightly sneaky additions to the Buildstation solid color options, albeit in conjunction with some character specific twists.

Some Glyarmor will be available in the wave, but folded within a selection that likes to play it mysterious.

    2. I really like the sound of all of that!

  3. Ooh, this is looking like a good one!! That second tampo looks really promising. I'm assuming the tampos are going on DSGs to fit the homage mentioned last month?

    1. You're on the right track! DSGs are a strong focus in this wave.

  4. I'm really thinking Robotix is the homage this drop!

    1. I think you hit the nail on the head. The figure in that line totally could be represented with Glyans and it would make sense that we get a shit ton of build options for little vehicles kinda like the LEGO homage drop.

    2. That reminds me, I've always wanted an homage to Cubix, and I think his ability to rearrange into different forms could be perfect for Glyos!

    3. Robotix is another awesome old line, but it's a different oddball range that we're exploring this time, and though physically smaller than Robotix, it did also have some interchangeability within its play pattern. That being said, we'll be zeroing in specifically on the little figures that were arguably the most memorable part of this "classic" older series.

    4. MAC Men?

    5. Right country of origin, different line!

Also, MAC is of course another slightly obscure and glorious favorite of mine.

    6. Something from a Playmobil theme?

      Delete
    7. Not Playmobil! Though their playsets and vehicles are overall really great companion pieces for most Glyos figures. Some great space bases and ships!

  5. Would love to see another Toy Pizza VJ with some of those tampos.

    1. No VJ this time, but we will have something available that's directly connected to that world.

A collaborative effort that's brand new.

  6. I feel like I should know the reference here, but I'm at a loss. Interesting that two appear to have the rough shape of the new Glyan visor tampos, though.

That circuitry one has me intrigued...

    1. I think you may be familiar with the source material once it's in full view. A weird tribute for sure, but it might stir a few buried toy memories as we get deeper into the mix.

    1. No OSM this time, but there will be different crossover on deck.

  8. Hmmm... too much to hope for an homage to that eccentric line The Dingalings?

    1. Now that's an oldie! No Ding-A-Lings tribute this month, but the great John Kent over at Toyfinity did revisit that classic range a while back. Card carrying Club Zeton members no doubt remember that special edition!

    2. Damn. Only other line I can think of, the name maddeningly escapes me. I had one pice from it, very Adventure People aesthetic, black robot, came with optional pieces like spider legs and a green brain in a dome. The entire line had optional bits to make your own figures in a way that jazzed my brain meat much the same way as Glyos

    3. "Brain Meat" caused a spit take. I think John might need to produce a Brain Meat Edition Nazgar now.

  9. Ooh, I recognize those symbols! I still own a bunch of my original toys from this 'system'. My dad used to bring them back from business trips. If I said trips to which country, it might be too big of a clue... :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Some of those symbols really are familiar. Maybe something close to what looked like the old LEGO technic figures... a lot of pail teal, pale violet... errrm racking my brain on this one!!!

  11. OOOh I think it found it. Tampos match up! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us, Matt!! (Don't want to spill the beans on toast!)

    1. If you've guessed it, feel free to share your discovery!

It's a oddball line for sure, but it really embodied that classic old toy "funk" that made the 80's so memorable. It still does when I look at the range after all these years!

Many glaring swipes from more popular properties of the time peppered the "original" character designs, but somehow when they ran them through their own filter the would-be ripoffs took on their own cool identities.

Then here we are taking a crack at toy designs that were, in themselves, also tributes to other toy lines!

Hopefully you guys will find some interest in the strangeness of this round.

  12. ah yes... now i decipher the runes! Well played! So glad this line is getting a tribute! This is going to be epic!

  13. Ahh shit. I was thinking too hard. Way off!! Lol

  14. Got this straight away, but then I am in Britain.

    1. Did you grow up with them? If so, I'd love to read about your thoughts on the line, especially being that it originated from your side of the pond.

    2. I had a few pieces as a kid but was far more into Transformers. Actually just picked up 60+ components at a car boot sale the other week and had some fun doing a few builds with them but am going to move them along to a more serious collector, it's kind of limited as a building system and the die-cast parts put too much weight on the joints. I feel like it needed a few more types of small components, just missed the mark for me as a building toy.

    1. No vinyl, but there will be a little bit of green PVC in the mix. Though maybe not quite in the way that you'd immediately think.

If this wave does well, we may explore the source material some more down the road.

      Delete
    2. Really curious how you chose to bring the green in. It is such a great green! But in the source material (I'm not going to be the one to spoil it, either!) this really vibrant and appealing green is used in the 'bad guys' ships and vehicles, but not in the figures themselves. Whichever way you chose to bring it in will prove to be interesting!

      Delete
    3. One of my favorite factions from the line was actually injected mostly in green!

Depending on the source they are called both Terror Mutants and Terror Raiders. I always just called them mutants, but man were they cool and weird as hell. They're also the only poseable figures from the range. Though the Muteron and Master set they released also had some good movement, as well as a bunch of customization mechanics.

This particular homage wave is focused mainly on interpretations of the figures in the range, but if we travel back to the Britains dimension again, we might experiment with some Zetonian tech so we can create spaceships for these guys to mess around with.

The legend of the long requested bright green RF Kit lives on!

  16. I can hardly wait to see your PVC version of the self-leveling / gyroscopic cockpit joints, Matt... :p ;)

  17. I had never heard of this line before I looked it up. Legions of Power with a bit of Capsela feels very similar, albeit not metal based. Will we have matching Swings available in yellow and black for the DSGs? Any chance Cane somehow makes an appearance?

    1. Matching Axis Joints for black, yellow and green. Full assortment of accessories for the new metallic silver blue from the graphic up top (the Hub Set will be available as part of a DSG based build).

There is definitely a black Glyan lurking within the assortment.

Legions of Power was another great old line. I actually sent in for a free space capsule set that Nestle Quik was offering when I was a kid and somehow ended up winning a small boxed set from the contest that they were running along with the promotion. It almost rivaled the glory of when I received the Kenner Hammerhead in the mail.

      Almost.

  18. Since Matt said I could reveal, we’re going to be thrown into the world of Britains’ Space line! I honestly hadn’t heard of this line before but reading up on it makes me realized I missed out on some truly cool stuff!

  19. can't wait to see these! Now i am hoping that we can eventually explore the Atlantic Galaxy Serie toyline!

  20. Thanks Gary for posting those pics on FB. I had only one figure growing up, sold loose from a toy soldier store. Can't wait to see how this plays out!

  21. One of my first guesses during the pre-teaser phase was M.A.N.T.A Force; I'd LOVE to see that line explored sometime, possibly with some Vinyl in the mix as well to represent the vehicles.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I can’t wait to see how these turn out. Great idea for a homage considering they were a somewhat build able toy line themselves.
My fav was the dude with the rappel hook on his back.
I lucked out as a kid spending a few years overseas when these came out. I missed the later white series. These also scream an OSM version!

  23. Nice! Looking forward to the reveals on Tuesday! Any Hubset drones in this drop?

  24. Holy crap. I'm a massive vintage toy collector. My mom gave all my childhood toys away and I've been buying them all back slowly. I really want to thank Matt and the rest of the guys here for bringing this line back to the forefront of my brain. I had forgotten about them, but owned tons of them. The only thing I'm confused anabo is how I would have gotten them since I grew up in the US? Can't wait!

  25. Is the metallic silver blue close to the metallic blue from 2012 traveler urbalim pheyden?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think you might be referring to the Gendrone Legion/Neo Legion Pheyden PVC from 2012 (Urballim was gold).

This new metallic silver blue is more on the silver side, as far as the in-hand hue goes. It has a hint of blue in it, but I'd classify it as a true tinted silver more than the defined metallic light blue of the old Legion selections.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was really hoping for some vinyl this round too. Any Armorvors? That metallic blue sounds rad - anything like weapons accessory packs coming out for that color?
