Thank You!!!

Thank you for a surprisingly strong turnout for a really weird release! We weren't sure what to expect with this wave, as the subject matter was so specific and connected directly to a very obscure property. Thanks to you, though, things turned out pretty good, and apparently, you guys really like Phanost in green (ha!). It was a true dream to work on this tribute, and I'm extra thankful that you allowed it to meet with some success.

Speaking of this wave, one of the major elements that kept rolling around in my head from the beginning was the desire to see an "updated" catalog-type set of illustrations that pulled right from the original source material. Of course, Ralph Niese was the artist that could make that wish come true. The above illustrations bring it all together, and Ralph's hyper mutant abilities (Mutorius?) once again delivered the goods above and beyond, right down to the classic font style! Ralph, you 1000% nailed it! Thank you for pushing the concept to where it needed to go!

On another note, we were super psyched to be able to release the all new KOTS crossover Rift Killer in this assortment. Rising from a truly collaborative effort between Jesse D, Ant Sok, Erwin Papa and myself, the Rift Killer, like so many secret projects, had been in the works for a spell. Finally seeing this crazy figure go into full production has been a blast. The RK truly has some wild DNA! Jesse D has fantastic plans for this character in the KOTS universe, and we have a few adventures to take this intriguing villain on as well! Huge thanks to the Toy Pizza crew for their dedication and inspiration. We'll get a little more into the Rift Killer in an upcoming post.

All orders placed since the release last week have been processed and shipped, save for the ones that came in earlier today. As always, the mega team of Michelle and Pj never missed a beat and made quick time moving through the orders. We went into the archive for packing tunes and pulled out some Taking Back Sunday and Saosin for the barn soundtrack. Pj and I both practically lost our voices singing (screaming) along.

Our next release is set for early July, and will stand as our 11th year anniversary and Wave 74. Some fun plans have come together for this one, and we'll be revisiting a few old friends and meeting a new one as well. Hopefully it will hit the right notes. We'll also be wrapping up the AP mystery series soon, although there are a couple "honorary" space vintage AP figure selections that we've debated continuing the sub-set with. It will be hard to say goodbye to those homages!

I think I've kept it relatively short this time (right), in comparison to the usual scroll-a-thon that escapes my Swiss cheese brain. Thanks again for all the continued interest in not just what we do over here, but also in what the super talented Glyos makers do across the spectrum. It's the variety of projects that keeps things exciting, and being able to see new figures come to life never gets old. This only works because we're all in it together.

  1. This drop was fantastic!! The colors all work so well together, and the stowaway Cray really adds to it. I'm especially loving Altrovos.

Will there potentially be a continuation of the mystery figures after the AP homages are done? They've been one of the biggest draws of Glyos for me- Something fun to speculate on while I wait for my package to arrive, and in my opinion, some of the absolute strongest Onell offerings.

I'm really excited for the next drop too! A new introduction is very promising- Without prying too deep, will it take the form of an addition to an existing cast member?

  2. Whoa! Ralph knocked it out of the park! Those art pieces are just awesome, especially the first one. There were some really great colorways this time, that not only pulled from the source material but looked really good on their own. I had never heard of the world of Britains before this drop, but I would definitely be down to visit it again!

  4. After the drop last week I went online and bought one of the vintage pamphlets. This art is spot on. I have to second Lucario's sentiment about the mystery figures. This one was perfect, and even though this is only my second drop with you guys, I love the excitement and anticipation of the mystery fig because I know I can count on it being so solid. In a strange turn of cosmic irony I just found a mint vintage yellow AP Astro Knight a couple months ago. He was always one of my favorites with his arms stretched out. He even came with his glider clip!

In all of this I have to say the Rift Killer really hit home with me. I'm a massive KOTS fan, and the design is inspired and the small amount of mythology thus far is captivating. I've started following all of the artists who worked on it and I can't get enough.

You guys are all pushing the toy industry forward.

    Thanks matt.

  5. To echo some of the comments here, the "mystery figure" subline has been a fun experiment to watch unfold: so many new paint applications and unexpected twists to the original Traveler sculpts have come out of it, as have things like light piping! Maybe once the AP homages run out, it can be switched to a line of homages to the first few waves of Glyos, applying the techniques learned and gained in the nearly 11 years since?

Anyway, this wave just demonstrates why Glyos has such staying power: all the love and dedication, even to the most obscure detail, that's baked into it. Where else would we have seen an homage to a building toy that only a relative few in the States would have even known about? And yet, from mutants to cyborgs to even the bubble domes with painted heads inside, all that imagination has been brought back to life in such a vivid way, like a kid getting their wish to have their Raiders and Guardians be able to move around like their bigger action figures can.

Keep on doing what you do, Onell crew. Oh, and just saying, it'd be a great surprise if one of those "old friends" is a craggy-headed artifact hunter...

  6. I really have enjoyed this most recent wave. I'm sure whatever evolution comes from the AP Mystery figures will be a welcome one. I remember being pretty excited a few years back when the mystery Crays popped up, and I never imagined what would spawn from that! Any additional AP inspired figures are welcome in my collection.

As far as old friends, I've really enjoyed getting dark traveler bonus parts in the last two Toyfinity drops. With clues of the return of Govurom I'm crossing my fingers that Wave 74 might include some LSA as well as another fleeting ancient race?...and new friends are always welcome to the party!

  7. An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing a bit of evaluation on this. And he actually bought me breakfast as a result of I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to debate this, I really feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If doable, as you grow to be experience, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It is extremely useful for me. Large thumb up for this weblog submit! casino bonus
