Infinite Legions

Another massive thank you goes out for all the great support of the 4H's amazing new Infinite Legions rollout! The preorder for Pheyden and Phanost ends tonight at 11PM EDT over at storehorsemen.com and opens up the Dimension Gate for the next phase of this ongoing collaboration!

Extra special thanks to One:Six Shooter for the astonishingly otherworldly images above!

Thank You!!!

Thank you for an excellent Wave 107! The smaller assortment seemed to hit the right note, even though stock did not quite match up with the larger influx of folks visiting the store, resulting in a faster than usual sell through. We'll continue to adjust everything as we navigate the continuously shifting importation landscape to find the right balance. Expect a very small restock once we clear all existing orders out.

The shipping has been steadily moving, with the packages starting to hit the post today, this weekend and into Monday/Tuesday (lots of packages). Speaking of today and the weekend ...

Tonight. June 6th at 8PM EDT, we'll be joining our old friends the 4H for a livestream that debuts their Infinite Legions project. We've been extremely lucky and honored to have worked with the whole Horsemen team on the development of this initial offering, which features Pheyden. Long time folks may also see some other familiar Glyos characters sporting brand new looks thanks to the fusion of aesthetics and larger format that the incredible Legions line delivers. Beyond the figures themselves, you'll also get a special look behind the whole process through a small series of videos that were created especially for the Infinite Legions project. Special thanks to Brad Treadaway for wrangling all the mavericks into one place! I'll be posting more about the project and will delve deeper into the specifics over the coming weeks.

Continuing the announcements of immediate and important events, Toy Pizza Expo and Five Points Fest have combined and their show will be in full effect starting tomorrow morning, May 7th and spilling right over into Sunday out in Beacon, NY and we will be there for both days. Jesse D, Josh and Miranda (Clutter) have been working like crazy with The Yard to coordinate an event unlike anything that has ever come before it.

With a mix of creatives both local and from afar, this "Woodstock of Toys" has grown far beyond only plastic and plush. Those in attendance will be awash in a steady stream of live music, a large variety of fresh local food, distinctive craft beer, professional tattoo artists and even live painting! Imagine the freeform energy of your favorite weekend flea market but populated by many of your favorite artists and musicians. We're again honored to be in attendance right alongside the 4H and our Glyos brethren consisting of Jesse D, Jesse Moore, John, Brandon and Dan! If you're able to make it to the show, please swing by the table and we can talk shop!

Thank you for sticking with us through these turbulent times. We'll keep working hard to try and make things that hopefully bring you a little bit of happiness during the ups and downs.

Thank You!!!

Thank you for welcoming the Naval Deep into the fold with Wave 103! For characters that took their original form back in the late 90s, their road to an unlikely place in full production is something only made possible through your continued interest and support.

A very special thanks goes out to Jesse D for partnering on another very meaningful collaboration that pushed us both to try and innovate some different ways to make our characters work together. I suppose art imitates life in more ways than one.

The Naval Deep were brought into even clearer focus with some wickedly kinetic sequential magic from Dillon and an absolutely mesmerizing pinup by Sen. I'm continuously amazed by both of their abilities and how lucky we all are to see them create such magnetic work. Thank you Dillon! Thank you Sen!

Switching gears, Marcus, Pj, Jesse Moore (and family) and I have ventured down to New Jersey to attend and vend at LegionsCon! There will be some new stuff available at our tables and we'll all be ready to catch up and hang out throughout the show (which is already underway!). We love the 4H and are honored to be part of their wild extravaganza that also includes Glycon III in the mix. Please swing through if you're in the New Jersey area and visit with many of the current Glyos makers all set up in the same room!

For those of you that can't attend the show, we've just added the "show exclusives" to the store so you can pick up what's on deck without making the trip!

Keep your eyes on early December for our last wave of 2024, which pays homage to one of my favorite underrated movies of the late 70s.

Thanks again from the whole family for allowing the ship to sail on!

LegionsCon 2023

We are excited to make our annual pilgrimage to the amazing LegionsCon this weekend, November 11th-12th, in Whippany, New Jersey. The Four Horsemen are family to us, so getting the opportunity to hold another mini "GlyCon" within their powerhouse exhibition is an off the charts level event for us. Massive thanks once again go out to the 4H, their resident master of marketing Jeremy Girard and the infinitely generous Joe Veteri.

Looking forward to catching up if you can make the show!

Mission: Power Lords

Our old buddies, the Four Horsemen, have been running a special pre-order for the continuation of their awesome Power Lords line for the last month, and it wraps up later today (October 6th) at 3PM EDT.

Although we moved in different directions over the last few years professionally, we still remain great friends, and everyone here at Onell has been in full support of both Mythic Legions as well as the re-relaunch of Power Lords. The amount of work the guys (especially Eric) have poured into the redesigning process on these new super articulated Power Lords is deep, and continues to stand as an absolute passion project. As much as it was fun to work on this property together years ago, it's still been cool getting to see the 4H resurrect this strange yet glorious action figure classic, one more time.

If you enjoyed the first and second iterations of Power Lords, it's safe to say you'll love this third journey into the combined minds of the legendary Wayne Barlowe and the inimitable Four Horsemen.

Special thanks to Eric for the images shown above. Raygoth is the king!

Also, I've watched this little promo video about 50 times now, love the vibe Ryan Lord captured.

Battlecurse Skeleden

By combining the parts from two Skeleden Armor Sets, you can start to build the "Battlecurse" form of this oddball hybrid.

The fits on the leg armor parts are also compatible with the hands of a regular Traveler. Flipping the chest armor upside down and seating it sideways around the head also pushes the heavy bio armored look.

Back in the 90's I was nuts about a figure called Battleclad Spawn from McFarlane Toys. The Skeleden Armor design owes that old character a debt of gratitude, as it was a definite influence on the stacked armor style you see in the pic shown above.

It turns out sculpting ace Eric Treadaway of the 4H was the man behind Battleclad Spawn, which is pretty neat, as Eric and I would eventually go on to become good friends as we worked on the 4H's OSM and Power Lords projects together.

Thank You!!!

Thank you for making Sunday's release a successful one!

With the ever changing trends in the independent toy world, we are more grateful than ever for your interest and support of Glyos. Without the connections that we share together, this whole adventure would be meaningless, and the fact that we've survived for all this time is a testament to those bonds.

It's been a year of many strange turns, and I believe more than ever that we are in the midst of a paradigm shift in the way that we interface with our collecting habits. The rise of the independent action figure has been elevated to even greater heights by groups like the Four Horsemen and Boss Fight Studio, with powerful (and well publicized) Kickstarter campaigns that proved both inspirational and eye opening. Fresh companies that also emerged through Kickstarter were Warpo and IAmElemental, both of whom established themselves quickly with exciting and comprehensive campaigns. When you begin to analyze just how small the amount of people that truly make up the independent toy fan base is in comparison to the mainstream toy world, you really start to understand how incredibly risky all these unique and smaller projects actually are.

The pre-order model is quickly becoming the only way for anything to remotely stand a chance of getting produced, targeting the core audience and asking for a commitment up front (where you essentially purchase multiple waves of a toy line at one time) that in nearly all cases becomes a better deal with the more you spend. This is an excellent method for those of us who choose to go "all in", but if someone only wants a taste, the single unit cost usually falls a bit on the high side. This system seems to be the major draw of the Kickstarter model, and I'm extremely interested to see how it evolves as more companies have no choice but to use it. Personally, I'm thankful that Kickstarter exists, even if it has forced certain older models closer to their commercial graves. In many ways, the emergence of the crowd funded model has equalized and rationalized the basic viability of any given project proposal.

Moving forward, we will continue to keep the releases on the smaller side for the majority of 2015 (with only a few slightly larger waves planned), as well as placing additional focus on a few other projects that delve into the mythos of the Glyos System, reminiscent of our older booklets. Some new partner companies will begin to emerge next year, and some older partnerships will separate and travel in different directions. I'm fairly certain that 2015 will continue the roller coaster ride that has been in full effect since 2013, keeping things moving through thick and thin. That being said, no matter what occurs, we'll stay present and focused on bringing you our very best.

Thank you for reading and for inspiring us to keep pushing into the unknown!

Cosmic Gladiators

I've been literally waiting decades for a Colossus Rex like this.

Redesigned by the legendary Mel Birnkrant and sculpted by the inimitable Four Horsemen, the fully painted Rex shown above is really an out of this world figure.

I couldn't resist taking Rex outside today for a little battle with the completely outmatched Traveler Lymerran Pheyden (even with some Ultra Silver armor on). Who knows, maybe it was just a training exercise. Either way, it was quite surreal to take pictures of one of my personal super grails -an Infinity Edition of the remastered Rex!

The 4H have the whole new assortment of Infinity Editions OSM in stock now, including my childhood favorite, the mighty Man from Jupiter, Colossus Rex.

Huge, HUGE congratulations to Mel and the 4H for completing a cycle that was started all the way back in 1968! This line is without a doubt an integral piece of toy history, and I believe as the years roll on, it will become much clearer just how unique of an accomplishment bringing the OSM back to life has truly been.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

As we brace for another big snowstorm that is due to arrive early tomorrow morning, I wanted to start 2014 off with a few pics of a couple pocket survivors that have been hanging around with me since December. One point of interest is the head on the blue build, which comes from the legendary Mel Birnkrant's awesome design for his Outer Space Woman, Horroscope. I'm crazy about the look of this particular head, as it screams classic sci-fi with just a dash of Lovecraft mixed in. The Four Horsemen did an excellent job sculpting Mel's concept, and the finished product is really fun to incorporate across the lines.

The metallic red Protoclone is a little upgrade to the Gatekeeper Protoclone shown a few days ago, now sporting a more fortified form. The knee construction on this little brawler allows for some neat posing options, and overall the build holds up well to extensive play. I've had Little Red here in the rotation nonstop since putting it together.

Speaking of fortified forms (ha!), our long time collaborator and extended family member Marty Hansen, AKA The GodBeast, will be releasing his very first full production figure, Kabuto Mushi, this Friday night! The road to Kabuto Mushi's PVC form has been filled with some great moments, and I'm very happy to have been along for the ride. Marty's worked like a maniac for many years and been through his fair share of trials and tribulations. He might be a fiery son of a gun sometimes, but his heart beats for the right reasons. Friday night should be pretty fun.

More on Kabuto Mushi as Marty leads up to the release!

Silver and Chrome

Lots of activity in the month of December from our plastic slinging brothers!

The Four Horsemen have posted some sneak peeks of their special Outer Space Men Holiday Edition Silver Chrome armor accessories, which come with the brand new 2013 OSM Holiday Editions. These newly decorated versions also just happen to be beautifully painted up by the previously mentioned Ni!

As I  reviewed the parts (hence the pics), the whole assortment started to look like a Micronauts inspired fever dream! We now finally have the option of outfitting the latest wave of OSM with chromed parts!

Seeing Gamma X in clear colorless PVC sporting silver chromed armor and blasters is something directly from my "Nerd Book of Things I Wish Would Happen"!

The silver completely turns Jack Asteroid into an OSM/Adventure People/Micronauts super fusion astronaut!

Of course, then there is Colossus Rex, now made even more fearsome with a shield so reflective, you can see your doom all the clearer when he approaches.

I freaking love the OSM!

Always have, always will.

Beyond the Pond

After a super fast sellout of their online Power Soldier selection this past Monday, the Four Horsemen have posted that they will be offering a second chance to get them for those that missed out.

An excerpt from the latest 4H blog entry:

We’re going to put these figures back up for pre-order for those of you that missed out, and you’ll have 72 hours beginning Thursday, September 19th at 3:00pm to place your pre-orders. We’ll then run however many orders for each figure that we get during that time period. Once the sale ends, the ability to get those two figures ends. These figures will have stickers on the outsides of their poly-bags which will be numbered #251 and up (the figures that have sold so far are numbered 1 to 250) and will be placed into orders randomly.

This presents a great opportunity to still get in on this line at the ground level.

With what the 4H have planned for the rest of this year and into 2014, Power Lords is definitely a line to watch.

Power Play

The Four Horsemen will have their Power Soldiers available for purchase over at Store Horsemen today, September 16th, at 5PM EST. Priced at $10 USD and limited to 5 per customer, odds are these will be vaporized lightning fast!

Congratulations to the 4H crew on these first  production run Power Soldiers. I've been playing with them for days and they are absolutely the real deal. The team in the pics above even survived the rocks of Gloucester, which have claimed many a toy over the years!

NOTE: The White Elite Power Soldier in the middle has been swapped around with the Black Standard Power Soldier for fun, their actual default assemblies are single colored plastic with painted accents.

Cosmic Cousins

Took these guys for a little walk after packing and shipping yesterday...

Power Point

Today, September 14th, the Four Horsemen will be releasing the very first full production versions of their fantastic Power Lords Power Soldiers out at Power Con in Torrance, California!

If you will not be able to attend the show, there will still be a chance to pick up these brand new figures over at the 4H's store within the coming week.

Crossworlds Part 2

Another example of the Four Horsemen's new Power Lords figures combined with some of our parts.

It's been fun trying to simulate the base dimensions of the original Power Lords limbs on these cybernetic builds.

Also, the Ggripptoggs are pretty big bruisers, standing just a smidge taller that a Syclodoc!
