Thank You!!!

Thank you for a truly excellent end of the year rollout! It's always a little hectic releasing a new wave in December, but the holiday madness seemed to kick things into overdrive, as we saw a record number of folks checking things out over the span of the last week. Once again, we owe the Crafsman a continued debt of gratitude for the influx of all the new faces. This has been the first wave that we were able to really juice up the production numbers to try and match the altered flow. So far the general supply and demand has lined up pretty well, barring just a couple selections.

Bringing back the Venjorun wolf head was a big one for us, and thanks to the continued work of the incredible Jason Frailey, the end result really seemed to hit the bullseye. Jason's natural abilities are so off the charts that I'm perpetually amazed by what he can do, and he's such a tremendously intelligent and kind person to boot! Thank you once again, Jason!

Extra special thanks to our brother Ralph, for delivering brand new supercharged artwork all throughout 2019 (with one more beauty squeezed in above). With each month's release, Marc, Michelle and I are like kids waiting for Christmas in anticipation of Ralph's new illustrations. Ralphus, thank you for making all these waves infinitely cooler and "complete" through your outstanding art!

As of this writing all orders, including all internationals, have hit the post and are on their way to you guys (except a handful that came in late yesterday/today). With the significant increase in orders it's been taking us a couple extra days to process everything, hence the slight lag in our usual speed. Michelle pushed it harder than ever and is absolutely the unsung hero when it comes to getting all this stuff out the door. Triple Peej came down for a massive assist and had the Paper Palace running in full effect! We mostly had The Mandalorian (we're obsessed) running on loop in the background, though some Dire Straits did sneak in near the end of the packing frenzy.

Wrapping up, we'll be diving into 2020 with a new assortment for late January, featuring a couple twists on some crossover action. Should be a fun way to get things rolling!

It was one of our best years yet, thanks 1000% to each and every one of you!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the whole family!

Beyond the Pond

After a super fast sellout of their online Power Soldier selection this past Monday, the Four Horsemen have posted that they will be offering a second chance to get them for those that missed out.

An excerpt from the latest 4H blog entry:

We’re going to put these figures back up for pre-order for those of you that missed out, and you’ll have 72 hours beginning Thursday, September 19th at 3:00pm to place your pre-orders. We’ll then run however many orders for each figure that we get during that time period. Once the sale ends, the ability to get those two figures ends. These figures will have stickers on the outsides of their poly-bags which will be numbered #251 and up (the figures that have sold so far are numbered 1 to 250) and will be placed into orders randomly.

This presents a great opportunity to still get in on this line at the ground level.

With what the 4H have planned for the rest of this year and into 2014, Power Lords is definitely a line to watch.

Took these guys for a little walk after packing and shipping yesterday...

The Mixed Match

Pictured above is a Phase Defender in a mixed color scheme. The big guy is accompanied by Operator Cane, who is sporting some Black Hole inspired jumbo blasters.

Still on track for 9:30 tonight!

Exercising the Possibilities

Adding two Swing Joint Sets to a Glyan allows for a few new dance moves! The height and dimensions remain almost the same, just a tiny bit beefier. I imagine that in the story, the Swing Joints act as an upgrade for the Glyans, to help take on bigger challenges, and maybe even a Rogue Traveler or two.

The pics above show the most basic application, the crazier stuff happens when you start taking the joints apart.

There are 6 main parts and 6 Switch Pins per Swing Joint Set., for a total of 12 individual pieces.
A full breakdown and more details coming shortly.

Also, the complete list for the upcoming release is very close to being done, aiming to post it tomorrow night!

Wrapping Up!

Just a few packages left and everything from the drop will have shipped out!

Once again I want to thank my sister for working like a maniac all week long. Michelle was also a one woman super force as she processed everything that came through the system.

I would be living inside a box under a bridge without the efforts of these two.

Above are a couple of pics from before the packing started. The little Hub Jumper that Cane is standing on has been my companion since the stuff came in. I'm more obsessed with the contained builds than ever before.

The crazy Wedge construct that Sullkren is "taming" is what happens when you try to replicate the old Rubik's Twist snake. You can actually fit a Block perfectly inside the middle of the "ball" formation.
Marc and I have had a blast rolling this thing around the driveway when it is connected end to end in a circular form. It acts like some kind of crazy frisbee/bio wheel and is pretty durable under the stress of play. Maybe we'll get a quick video of it in action next week.

Glyos United

More Zorennor

Some contained building.

I've been playing with that Hi-Phaseon like crazy, having it chase old renegade Beanbots around, trying to steal their parts.

9:30 PM EST Tonight

We are on track for a 9:30 PM EST launch tonight! An extra half hour gives us a little bit to finalize a couple things that we think will be worth the wait.

In the meantime, I will post a few of the more out there builds I have been working on since the Blocks came stacking and chopping their way into our house!

First up: Heavy Armored Block Trooper-Cane's Custom Version!

This meatball was created by lots of cutting and fitting, but using no adhesives. Everything was measured and installed using a knife and heat gun. Temperature manipulation makes things 100% easier when customizing with vinyl (and the regular PVC parts for that matter).
This figure is comprised of Armodoc parts, Rig parts, Block parts and Runner parts. I'll have an exploded view up in the next few days. The Phase Cannons can slide off, revealing Armodoc arms. The Phase Blockers can be removed, as well as the Block "skirt" -which rests over an Armodoc inner pelvis assembly. The "head" is made from the back of the Runner (WARP Bike) and was originally conceived to be used for things like this. You can actually see a trace of a mechanical looking Pheyden face on this small piece, right down to the three "teeth".
Makes sense that the front of a Warp Bike has the tough face of Callgrim and the bum is based on Pheyden's bulbous noggin!

At Work

Ramping up for the drop on Friday night (looking like the standard 9 PM EST time), the Glyans are busy at work, enjoying their temporary Block Base and developing new uses and configurations for the Block itself.

Overseeing all of this activity is Operator Cane, who stands more than ready to test fly one of the Block Fighters the EMD Technicians have assembled.

Little does he know how dangerous his first flight will prove to be...

Battlegripped Blocks!

On one of our great friend Phil Reed's many trips out this way he showed me a very cool technique that he created in which he can render just about anything in a cool geometric 2-D design style. This approach gives an almost cel-shaded look to whatever he puts his Battlegrip on!

Over the past few days Phil has been posting some awesome renditions of the Block builds that I have been shooting back and forth with him, over on his Battlegrip.com site. These visuals have really done wonders to help "illustrate" (ha!) the Block's potential for those that think I've lost my mind with this project (which I no doubt have).

Thank you Phil for taking the time to create these excellent works of art. They truly add a much needed dimension to understanding what the Block is -even for the goon that made the thing in the first place!

Mission Details

Before I get to the specifics of what's coming next week, I wanted to once again give my sincere thanks to all of you guys for being so positive in regards to the Block. I have had a lot of mixed feelings about actually bringing something that is pretty abstract (even by my standards) to full production, so seeing that there is some interest in this project is humbling. You guys are the best.

A surprise or two might be in store as well...

The expansion of the vinyl stuff is a work in progress and will be tweaked depending on how everything shakes out after the drop. We're trying to keep the prices as low as possible and the margins are pretty tight, but I personally really want to offer something different and attempt to share the fun of messing around with all these larger vinyl parts.

Let us know what you guys think and we'll continue to twist the dials until we hit the right mix.

1.12.2012

Experimental Mechanics Division

I personally hope you guys get a kick out of this strange new addition to the Glyos ranks. There is something about holding one of these things that brings back a flood of memories for me. From playing near the ocean with the rocks, to customizing Star Wars Mini Rigs, to flying around Micronauts capsules and even overloading the old M.U.S.C.L.E. plastic trash can with piles of tiny Godzilla figures.

The idea of chopping these up to customize might be a horror to some of you, so all black "Buildstation" style vinyl Blocks and parts will be online when these fully painted versions go live next week.

This is still an experiment, so we did not produce a ton of these. If the response is good, then we'll make more for the next drop (sometime in late March). There will be a run of matching Rigs and Rig Runners (Glyan WARP Bikes) available in this wave as well, for those of you still wondering about what the hell the Block is and what it does. Ha!

More details on the January 20th (next Friday) release will be up tomorrow, including prices, full assortment and more pics!

Thanks for checking this stuff out during the past week!
