A Haunted Addendum

It's no secret Matt and I love all things creepy and crawly, and this last round of Glyos deviants is high on my list of personal favorites. Extra fun was had during the launch, creating some bonus pixel mutations, and eventually a full sticker sheet of sprites plagued my screen.

A small run of new sticker sets are available now from the Culture Pirates shop! These will ship by themselves in a super sturdy flat-mailer to ensure safe delivery. Twin 4x6 sheets are included with each set for a total of 14 stickers.

I haven't finished watching The Haunting of Hill House, so Halloween is still in full effect over here!

Much more Bit Figs related news to be revealed at DCon...

Bit Figs: Printables

Now available for download: Bit Figs coloring pages!

We've opened a Culture Pirates Etsy Shop, where new printable items like this will be offered.

Etsy is a community of independent creators and supporters that embrace the do-it-yourself work ethic. Back in my middle school punk rock days, DIY was our motto, and that attitude still filters through my daily life.

In addition to the coloring pages, there's also a set of Valentine's Day cards that can be downloaded and printed. Packs of Bit Figs vending series are listed as well to expand their online presence and introduce Etsy-goers to our little world.

We have more printable pages and activities in the works as we explore new markets for kids, parents, and teachers. If this is something you're interested to see more of please let us know!

Passcode Flashback

We hope everyone is having a fun holiday season, and that the new year brings a fresh wave of creativity and inspiration.

The video above is a little flashback compilation that spotlights some of the moments we've shared together throughout the Passcode series. Creating these over the last decade was a true labor of love, and they still stand as some of the best projects that I've had the pleasure to be a part of.

Cheers!  -Marcus

Bit Figs: Animal Series 3

Get ready for wild mini-adventures with Animal Series 3: Safari!

Five all-new characters to collect, each available in five unique colors. Look for them in vending machines across North America this fall (featuring the elusive painted figures), and grab mystery 5-packs now at the Culture Pirates shop. Also check out the shiny, new hologram eggshell stickers just added.

Matt and I had a lot of fun creating this series, which features some of my personal favorite Bits to date. Tiny travelers hopping across crocodile heads can finally be played out on my desk! Thanks once again to Josh and the Dumphy family at SSM Vending for helping us bring these pixels to life.

It's pretty exciting to see the fourth series of Bit Figs hit the streets in the span of one year. We are equally thrilled knowing there are more to come by early 2018... the next round may take things to another dimension.

Bit Figs: Wave 7

A new round of goods is available now at the Culture Pirates shop!

Two new glow-in-the-dark sets are on the menu, along with a very special item to commemorate 10 years of Glyos.

Since the release of the very first wave, I've had the honor of working on each color mechanical for every Onell Design figure produced. Along the way, Matt and I have discussed what a DB Pheyden would look like, and countless offshoot Travelers from beyond. It felt appropriate to finally pull the trigger during our decadal year. The resulting Pheyden, Matryx, has ties to the Bit Figs origin story (in addition to a handheld gaming system from my youth), and features our first ever 5-color chest paint tampography!

We're also excited to offer the Bit Figs Ninja Series 1 blister pack, which includes all five deluxe painted figures as seen in vending machine displays. Another SSM Vending collaboration we have in stock is the complete set of Animal Series 1 stickers.

Drift over to the Pirates shop and have fun exploring!

Passcode Playthrough

In celebration of officially hitting the 10 year mark, we've put together a special Passcode Playlist that covers almost every entry in the series!

Creating each installment was always a labor of love, even when finishing things would take hours or days longer than expected (like the Glyaxia Incident of 2010). For anyone that may not have completed a game, or wants to rewatch the stories on the big screen, there is now over an hour of video to stream on YouTube.

Extra special thanks to our friend Rich Vreeland, whose music became not only the soundtrack, but the inspiration for many moments throughout the series.

Michelle, Matt and I are SUPER excited to debut the new figure tomorrow. There will not be a new Passcode this time, but check back for big reveals leading up to the launch tomorrow night at 9:30 PM ET!

DCon Details 2016

Designer Con is upon us and we're super psyched to invade Pasadena for a third year in a row! The convention runs from Saturday, Nov. 19th 9am - 6pm to Sunday Nov. 20th 10am - 5pm and is located at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Echoing the floor plan from last year, we'll once again be surrounded by our extended family, featuring the united super powers from Tokyo, RealxHead, Studio Uamou, Skull Toys, Punk Drunkers and Goccodo!

The Glyos family will be represented by Marty "Nemesis" Hansen (Kabuto Mushi #1001), John Kent (Toyfinity #1002) Spy Monkey Creations (Battle Tribes #1003), Jesse DeStasio (Knights of the Slice #120), Mark Vasquez (Mystical Warriors of the Ring #1001), Nemo Campisi (Nemo's Factory #1002), Ben Spencer (Galaxxor #1001) and the newest addition to the mayhem, Pat Bussey (Bio-Masters #1001).

Holding down the Glyos compatible 3D printing fort will be the ABS master, Pj Bartlett (Spaced Out Design #1002). Pj has been practically living at the shop over the last few months while refining and building his new selections. Those in attendance will not be disappointed with the results of his latest experiments. He's even printed a few vehicles!

Also showcasing his own range of 3D printed figures in row 1000 will be the architect of the extraordinary Mecha Zone himself, David White (#1005)! David continues to innovate and inspire with both his 3D work and 2D illustrations. A monster talent, indeed.

Deep, deep thanks goes out to Ben Goretsky of 3DRetro for all his hard work this year and for allowing all of us to have the opportunity to come together in such an excellent location. We also want to thank the legendary October Toys for always supporting us throughout the years. We've shared a great decade of friendship together and we look forward to 10 more!

For those of you who make the show, please swing by booth #1002 and say hello!

Thank You!!!

Thanks to all of you, we've just made it through one of the most intense weeks around here since the Paypocalypse of 2013.

Before I get into the specifics of what occurred last week with the store, I personally want to express how grateful I am for the repeat turnout as we muddled through our mess. The fact that you guys still have the dedication to come back and check out what we're up to is what fuels the main engine, especially during mishaps with our eternal frenemy, PayPal. It can't ever be said enough how much we love doing this with all of you.

The TMNG wave proved to be a good one, and there will definitely be another small visit to their subterranean world in 2017. It was an extra special assortment for Marcus and I in particular, as we bonded originally over our mutual admiration for the old TMNT comics, toys and video games of our youth, back when we first met while working at Beantown Toys. What an incredible and enduring world Eastman and Laird created together all those years ago. The latest round of Glyos stands as Onell's tribute to their inspiring legacy.

Following up on the previous posts about our recent store issues, we can report that the PayPal shopping cart system and inventory control failed not only on the original night of the launch, but also on the relaunch of our store last Friday afternoon. Upon contacting PayPal to check on how we should proceed with the situation, they recommended that we close the store down for at least 48 hours, then reload the entire store (with new buttons) for a third time. This was not going to cut it, so we got out the scratch pad(s) again and went to work old school style, marking each item down that was sold as your orders appeared in real time. This process completely felt like the old days, long before we ever had an online inventory system, with crazy counting going on at a rapid fire pace. The experience was once again humbling to say the least.

Now that the dust has finally settled, we are preparing to finally roll out an all new shopping cart interface through Shopify, so be on the lookout for some changes in the checkout process over the coming week. Marcus has been test running this system with the Bit Figs site, and so far the results have been solid.

Going into the last two months of 2016, we'll be attending Designer Con in November for the 3rd straight year, and we're super excited to catch up with everyone in person again. This is an excellent convention run by exceptional people, and we're honored to participate in the madness that is DCon in sunny Pasadena with our friends. We plan on having some sneak preview stock from our year end early December wave available, as well as a few other little bits.

Well, I've succeeded in making another text tidal wave, so I'll clip my rambling before you all fall asleep on your keyboards. Thanks again for all the worlds that you continue to allow us to explore. Having a place these last 9+ years to share our weirdo ideas has consistently given us hope and happiness, no matter how many virtual stores have exploded along the way.
