Small Crawlers

A few more Contained Builds, with a mini-mech insectoid theme this time! Each build seen above is contained and made up from mixes between Axis Joints, Phase Arms, Gobon Blasters, Hub Sets and even a few with the new Swing Joints.

These builds were inspired by Megabug Gladiatiors, Sectaurs and of course, Shirow's Tachikoma.

I imagine these critters being sent out by the Reydurran Forces to collect information and explore the Deep Ruins on Planet Reydurra itself. They can also function as personal guardians for when things get dangerous.

Space Glyoid Scorpikoma

A little story has been starting to form involving these "Glyoid" characters. I imagine that at one point this mean looking red and black Glyoid was partnered with the white Glyoid from earlier posts. That they actually shared a form together and became separated during a mission, each thinking the other had perished. In time they each evolved, one becoming more aggressive and the other continuing to follow its primary programming, that being the exploration of alien worlds and the preservation of peace in Glyos..

I also wanted to see if I could combine a little Shirow with some Zeroid aesthetics and see what happened. The end result is an evil Robot from Lost in Space fused with a Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell. Those Axis Joints make transformations a lot more interesting than before, at least from a building perspective.

Axis Heavy Armor

Another big influence on me has been Masamune Shirow, who is best recognized as the man behind Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell.

I first saw his work back in the 1980's (around '85) when I discovered a bootleg copy of the animation Black Magic. The designs were very unique, with an organic quality to the mechanical style that looked unlike anything I had ever seen before. When I eventually saw the manga for Appleseed my brain exploded and I've never looked at a mech the same way since.

This build is a tribute to Masamune Shirow's incredible worlds, without which Glyos would have a lot less round stuff to play with.
