Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave 20
Marty "The Speedwalker" Hansen's 20th assortment of his long running Kabuto Mushi MK II is available now, over in the GodBeast Store.
Always pushing the spectrum of color, Marty's eye for crazy PVC combinations continues with his Cosmic Instar selections. The swirls of light really look trapped within the different hues of this wave, and the running theme of shared (and pretty complex thanks to the talented Pat Bussey) tampos rounds out the biomechanical vibe. I'm crazy about the green shown above in particular, mixed with the "crystal smoke" swap!
Another great round featuring a true classic!

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave 17
Marty "The Standard" Hansen has just released his 17th (!) assortment of full production Kabuto Mushi MK II figures, just in time to celebrate Halloween!
Continuing with his series of classic MOTU color design homages, Marty has a wild new Modulok inspired edition available, featuring not only a double set of Axis Joints, but also a separate matching "Mod" Crayboth sidekick. Marty and I worked together on a special contained build that you can check out over on his blog, as well as few alternate forms. Modulok was a really unique entry in the original MOTU toy line, and possessed the key element that the foundation of Glyos was built upon, that being its core interchangeability. To make this "Mod" Mushi even more authentic, Marty had new eye spray masks created to better echo those creepy old reptilian peepers that Modulok sported. All in all, a pretty cool entry in the growing Kabuto Mushi MK II MOTU subset.
Another noteworthy part of Marty's new round is the inclusion of the Kabuto Mushi MK II Standard MK II! A bit of a mouthful, I know, but what a killer figure! This edition represents MJ (Marty's son) Hansen's special Kabuto Mushi Comic cover art, and stands as the definitive version of the popular character. Lots of paint and a great combination of brown, green and black land this version as one of my personal favorite KMs yet. The green actually matches up with the "Aka" TMNG green that we just produced, so building between the colors yields some good results. To add a little extra fun to the mix, another color matched "Kabuto" Crayboth was also run, standing at the ready to watch KM's back! Hats off to MJ and his pop for working together to bring this one to life.
Marty's latest selection is topped off by not one, but two Transformers tributes that flesh out the ongoing Insecticon inspired KM subset. If you've been looking for the right opportunity to check out the vinyl Titan Mushi in hand, this October offering is just about the perfect style to start with.
Hard to believe that it's been almost 3 years (come January 2017) since the Kabuto Mushi MK II landed on the scene. Marty has been pushing himself since day one, and I'm looking forward to the next phase of the GodBeast's evolution. I've even heard some bad guys might be crawling around behind the scenes...
Congratulations to Marty and his boys on another great wave!

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave 15
Marty "Prince'" Hansen has prepared a very special wave of Kabuto Mushi MK II figures for sale tonight, JUNE 17th, at 8PM CST.
If you have known Marty for any significant amount of time, you would know how much he likes the late musical genius, Prince. I remember that one of our first conversations many years ago involved how much inspiration Marty found in the music and style of Prince. It makes perfect sense that a wildly creative, provocative and sometimes controversial artist would resonate with the Godbeast.
For tonight's release, Marty has paid homage to "The Purple One" with a pair of figures that celebrate the incredible career of another extraordinary musician that was taken too soon.
Along with the two Prince tributes, Marty will also have a very cool super deluxe "Buzzer" Mushi available, which draws from the great Masters of the Universe classic figure line. Rounding out the selection comes the "Hopper" Mushi, featuring a color combo lined right up with our fairly recent Keytrius figures.
All in all, a very personal and extremely cool new assortment.
Wave 15, Marty! That's a hell of an achievement in these hyper competitive and unpredictable days of collecting!

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave 14
The color selections for this assortment feature some PVC colors that date way back to our early days. By combining the different hues found on each Mushi, you'll be able to form Rothan, Halos, Gatekeeper, Gatekeeper Reverse and half the Crayhunter (redorange) versions of the classic Mushi design. Marty swapped the parts around for the final selections and the results are looking good! The pricing is also set up with the builder in mind, landing at only $11 USD. This is a great time to check out the formidable customizing potential hidden inside the Kabuto Mushi MK II design.
Another very cool addition to tonight's sale is the latest Titan Mushi, with a full on Micronauts inspired color combination that should have old school toy fans smiling. The tight paint applications layered over the juicy rotocast orange vinyl turned out awesome. As a huge Micronauts fan, I find these crazy colors hard to resist.
Good luck tonight, Marty! Thank you for keeping us old timer toy fans in mind on this launch!

Titanic Intentions
I've been watching the creative process of this new "Titan" Mushi unfold since back in 2011, when Marty first started working through the early stages of the Titan's development (as well the first runs of our collaborative Bio Jumpers project and the original Kabuto Mushi concepts). Initially, the sculpt was quite a bit larger than the one you see above, sporting a massive horn and a very stout body. Through a series of revisions, the dimensions started to change, resulting in a couple variations to the overall design. With each passing year, the core aspects of the Titan would alter a little bit, leading up to a heavy round of joint concept work in mid/late 2014 (some of it shown above) that resulted in a more concrete basic look.
It was around this time that Marty began sculpting his new monstrosity, spending weeks working out the details and attempting to incorporate a "folding" mechanic he came up with that would allow the Titan to transform into a quadrupedal form. Many hours were spent pushing the lines and tightening the look of the overall figure, and at DCon 2014 Marty delivered a resin cast Titan to me in person for final review.
It took nearly a year from that point for the Titan to hit the production phase, due to the wonders of timing as well as a number of technical issues that we had never faced at our factory before on a vinyl project. Marty, being a maniac, decided to disregard the specific limitations that I had given him for when he was building the Mushi, resulting in some big challenges to overcome.
There were three main no-no points that were supposed to be avoided:
-No T-Crotch.
-No hard right angles.
-No extremely small protruding design elements.
The Titan Mushi master, of course, had all three of these to the maximum degree!
It took some doing to bring everything together, but thanks to our factory engineers and an intense reworking of the Titan resin master while I was recently visiting them, we managed to make it work. I personally sculpted and sanded on that little bugger for about 30 hours inside my hotel room during the stay in Dongguan. Jesse was inhaling resin dust while he slept! Luckily, he's nearly indestructible.
To see Marty's Titan Mushi come to life after all the back and forth over the years is a really satisfying thing, and even though it was tough to pull off, I'm happy that Marty pushed the limits of what we could do in rotocast vinyl production. The resulting figure stands (or crawls) with a look all its own.
It was an honor to collaborate with Marty on his latest character, and I'm looking forward to seeing what folks do when they get their hands on this latest addition to the Glyos family.
Congratulations Marty, from the whole Onell crew!

Glyosar Party
The new store is LIVE!
REFRESH: onelldesign.com/store
Huge thanks to the resident Van Gogh from Under The Mountain, Jesse Moore for the amazing painting shown above, and to longtime friend and all around musical cyborg Glen Schricker (aka Circuits and Brains) for the awesome tune! We'll have a little story to tell as the week rolls on, and the creative combination of Jesse and Glen gets us off to a great start.Note: Please place only ONE ORDER WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR tonight. We usually see an increased volume of traffic during a new release and need everyone's cooperation to ensure things operate smoothly. After the initial dust settles, we will lift all limits. Thanks for your understanding and support. Have fun!
Mission Details
You'll notice that the prices on the majority of the special painted figures are higher than usual, which is due to the extensive spray masks combined with full detail lines (and in some cases additional paint washes/ wipes on the Skeledens armor parts and possibly something else).
In general, the larger price tags shy us away from running assortments like this anniversary selection, as the risks run much higher all across the charts. With that being said, we felt like there was no better occasion to attempt a deluxe wave than in celebration of our 8th year of manufacturing these little buggers!
Regardless of what shakes out, it's been a extremely satisfying group of figures to work on, and a lot of fun finally seeing deluxe painted versions of the Skeleden and Noboto/Protoclone molds. We have never produced figures with this much decoration! They actually feel a little heavier from the loads of paint and lines. Plus, since we are running a special edition of the Kabuto Mushi we had to make sure that we hit the high bar our favorite Paint Warlord, Marty "VITAS" Hansen, continues to set with his great figure line. Thank you Marty for letting us give the old beast a spin!
But before I get into some of the specifics of how we landed on the colors you see above, let's cut to the list!

The Orkmogg color pattern pays tribute directly to the classic hues our friend Eric Treadaway put together for the 4H's Mythic Legion Orcs, which were originally going to be a Glyos compatible line. Though the 4H ultimately chose to bump up to a larger scale, we wanted to honor the years of solid discussions and good times (we're still having them!) we all had planning out potential battles between our respective toylines. Our guys will just have to ride on each others shoulders when the lines finally meet!
My apologies for the list being posted on the day of the release, but all the parts of the machine had to be in just the right places to nail our actual anniversary date (and the wedding anniversary of Michelle and I). July 21st is a pretty big day around here.
Thanks for your patience! I hope the wait was worth it!
PS -There will be some surprises...

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave Seven
Continuing his recent theme of famous Japanese character homages, Marty has put together some very clever combinations utilizing an assortment of all new spray applications. My personal favorite is the Cyborg Mushi, which is shown above surveying the Frozen Zone that has taken over most of New England.
Cyborg Mushi also makes a good rival for Redlaw Argen, as they both pay tribute to the excellent classic Henshin Cyborg series by Takara (thank you Paul L. for maintaining the best link).
Head over to Mushi Central to check out the rest of TGB's latest offerings.
Congratulations on another unique and exciting wave, Marty!

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave Six
Almost one entire year of Kabuto Mushi MK II has passed, and to celebrate, Marty "Totino Bold" Hansen will be rolling out his final wave of 2014 in his store tonight, December 14th, at 8PM CST!
Consisting of some fun color selections that pay tribute to classic Japanese characters, Marty's new assortment has a little something for everyone. Of note is the first time production of a brand new metallic emerald green (Kamen Rider Green) that really pops in hand, as well as a metallic light blue (Bio Boosted!) that matches very closely to the Gendrone Legion figures we produced back in December 2012. If you like Transformers, you're also covered, as a very cool Insecticons homage is also in the mix.
Lots of consideration and effort were put into the selection process of these new Deluxe figures, really broadening the spectrum of what Kabuto Mushi can become. It's pretty neat that 2014 opened up with a green Mushi and now closes with a fresh take on Marty's favorite color, evolved and ready to journey into 2015.
Congratulations on the success of year one, Marty! The whole Onell family has enjoyed watching Mushi grow, and I personally can't wait to see where you take things in 2015.
Long live Totino! Stay Bold!

Designer Con 2014
After a number of years without a proper visit, we're headed back out to the West Coast, this time to attend the legendary Designer Con which happens this weekend, November 8th and 9th (Booth #401).
Located in Pasadena, California at the Pasadena Convention Center, Designer Con is loaded with tons of incredible artists that cover many different aspects of the independent toy world- from all around the globe! We are extra excited that our extended family from Tokyo will be in attendance, with RealxHead, Uamou and Skull Toys all rolling out fresh selections of sofubi magic.
This particular Designer Con will also mark the gathering of multiple members of the Glyos family of full production figure makers, with Marty "Full Throttle" Hansen (Kabuto Mushi), Spy Monkey Creations (Weaponeers of Monkaa), Jon Karis of LRG and Plastic Imagination (Rise of the Beasts) and new addition Mark Vasquez (Mystical Warriors of the Ring) all in attendance.
Hand casting machine Pj Bartlett of Spaced Out Design will also be there, debuting his brand new (and resin heavy) creation, Quarzenic!
Nemo Campisi from Nemo's Factory (who currently has a figure in the tooling process over at our factory) plans on showing his fantastic Robot prototype (produced by the masters at True Cast Studio, creators of the Glyos compatible Walking Dud figure) as well as some incredibly innovative hand made felt creations that need to be seen and handled to be believed.
The elusive Jesse Moore will be at the show in spirit only, as he continues to build his Screen Printing Death Star up in Beverly. Even though he's had to take an extended hiatus from production for most of this year, Skullface's daddy still has a few tricks up his sleeve. We'll miss you on this mission, Gimli, and will eat multiple In-N-Out Burgers in your honor.
The rollcall of talent lined up for this show is pretty intense. Here is a list of this year's vendors.
We want to send out a gigantic thank you to our great friends George and Ayleen of October Toys and Ben Goretsky of 3DRetro for putting such a powerhouse event together. Marc, Megan and I are very excited to be part of the action this year. Michelle and the girls will hopefully make it out for the next one!
Thanks for reading through this link bomb of a post!
Please come by Booth #401 and say hi, and we hope to see some of you real soon!

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave Five
This wave marks the very first Kabuto Mushi MK II (Sectivorus Supreme) to feature detail lines, which truly does bring a different look and feel to Marty's sculpt. Over the years I've become equally interested in both detail lined and straight PVC, so getting to have the option to check out both styles is very satisfying. Variety will definitely factor more into the equation as we close in on 2015.
Well done Marty! These new additions were absolutely worth the risk of your investment. I'm looking forward to seeing the next round of Knights!

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave Four
Showcasing five "Frosted Fade" neon hues, this fresh batch of Mushis also features some new configurations, available for the first time assembled directly from the factory.
Usually, I'm partial to the old Voss color, but the new faded neon orange and yellow combo has actually been the mix living on my desk since everything arrived. There is really a solid variety of warm and cool choices to check out!
Congratulations of the fourth assortment of Kabuto Mushi, Marty! The new colors are an awesome addition to the family!
6.01.2014
Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave Three
Once again Marty's eye for color has resulted in a some great color combinations, focusing on the first tinted translucent editions of Kabuto Mushi. Familiar hues such as Infection Clear Red, Neo Phase Clear Green, Mordireus Clear Pink and good old Smoke Clear Gray will all be available for the first time on the fan favorite Mushi. To spice things up, Marty is offering some PVC color swaps in the mix, with the "Watermelon Twins" taking center stage in their robust pink and green final forms.
The Glyaxia colors also return for a fresh run across another of the extended Glyos family molds! It's been a lot of fun playing with the two figures shown above (and in recent posts). The samples luckily arrived right before I had to break down Block Base, so the twin Kabuto Clones managed to just sneak into the mix.
As we were planning these latest assortments together, Marty and I discussed a story arc that involved Glyaxia Command snatching some Kabuto Mushi specimens, with the intention of cloning them aboard Block Base. I actually play out all these stories like some overgrown goof, and having the base still intact to greet the latest KM assortment was really fun!
The crew over here wishes you luck tonight Marty, congratulations on another wave of Kabuto action!
