Flying Vipers x Easy Star Records

Back in 2015, my brother JBo and I started a studio side project to release a cassette of lofi music we had made with a friend. No demos, no rehearsing, just hit record on the tape machine and see what happens. We asked the Big Guy over here to draw us a snake with wings, and the Flying Vipers were born.

Today, that scrappy band – and that scribbled drawing – are still thriving, and we're excited to announce we've signed with Easy Star Records! Based out of NYC, some may know this label from their Dub Side of the Moon release, a full reggae version of Pink Floyd's masterwork LP. We loved it in college when it came out and have been supporters of their output since. To now be a part of their roster is one of those full-circle moments that we are incredibly thankful for.

Today is also Bandcamp Friday, and you can pre-order the new single digitally or on vinyl 7" directly from us, and Easy Star star will ship them next month.

Many thanks to those of you that have been supporting all my musical endeavors over the years - this is just the beginning of a new chapter, next Vipers LP is on deck for 2025!

Order in Exile

We hope you had a great set of holidays and are feeling good as we get moving into 2019!

The crew over here spent some quality time recharging together throughout the break and we're psyched to connect again and dive back into the mix.

This year should be another fun one, with a solid array of projects coming to life across a number of platforms, featuring new action from long time Glyos makers and fresh talent alike.

To get things started around these parts, our first assortment of 2019 (Wave 78) will roll out next Thursday, January 17th at 9:30PM EST.

Spectral swords and cursed battle axes shall clash!

Galaxxor: 005

Our friend Ben Spencer currently has a great new yellow edition of Galaxxor to check out in his Galaxxor Online Store. Be sure to also read Ben's latest installment of the continuing adventures aboard the Space Fortress Cerberus while you explore his site!

Galaxxor: 002

The notorious Vinyl Pirate of the Windy City, Ben Spencer, reopens the cosmic spaceways to the Lazarus Sector with a brand new edition of Galaxxor, available right now over in the Galaxxor Online Store.

The color combination on this figure came out looking extra sharp, and truly delivers a great realization of Ben's unique eye for color. My personal favorite to date (and CC's as well)!

Galaxxor: Monster Hunter Robo

The Space Warlord of Chicago, Ben Spencer, has just released an awesome new trio of "standard" Galaxxor characters (Galaxxor 001 and Gorgax are shown above) that showcase the very first deluxe paint jobs on his full production figure. You can find them right now, over in the Galaxxor Online Store.

Ben has a great sense of color and design, and these special versions of Galaxxor, coupled with a fun story synopsis, serve as a great jumping off point into his Monster Hunter Robo mythos.

Love the choices for this rollout, Ben!

Galaxxor Emerges!

Something special is set to emerge from the far reaches of deep space tonight, May 25th at 8PM CDT, as Ben Spencer's mighty Galaxxor finally materializes in production rotocast vinyl form!

Fully compatible with all previous Glyos vinyl releases, Galaxxor is an awesome addition to the Glyos family, and a long time in the making.

Huge congratulations to our friend Ben, who has guided his character through many phases on its way to tonight's historic release. Big props as well to Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen for his role in bringing Galaxxor to life over the years, as Ben and Marty worked very closely on the now classic series of excellent Galaxxor resin editions that really set the stage for this new frontier.

Good luck tonight, Ben!

45 Spinners

On New Years Eve, my brother John and I closed out the year revealing a new vinyl-compatible custom piece. The vinyl this fits however, is not of the articulated type, but audible.

Years back after a particularly hazy night of spinning old Jamaican 45s, John began sketching new designs for record adapters. Most people are at least familiar with this iconic item even if they've never used one, but there was a time when these mini plastic "spiders" were ubiquitous with any music collection (allowing 45 rpm singles to jump from jukeboxes to turntables). Their popularity may have peaked a few years before we were born, but after inheriting our father's 45 box at a young age, we've always had a fascination with 7" vinyl.

Since 2015 was the first year we recorded a cassette-only album in over 15 years, it seemed fitting to cap it with another tribute to anachronistic technology. It also happened to be when our bandmates 10 Ft Ganja Plant booked a very rare live performance and asked John to DJ the event. I'll spare the details of the big steps our country made this year in states like Colorado, too... let's just say the timing for this particular design felt right. Long story short, we finally had the means and inspiration to see this project through and began producing them in the weeks leading to the NYE show.

Thus, the first batch of 45 Spinners are here!

Big thanks to all who have supported my side quests with Music ADD and Bit Figs. These adapters are just a tiny portion of the things we've been developing and 3D printing over the past few months. Much progress has been made on the Bit Figs front, and we'll be sharing the next part of their plan in early 2016 as well. Stay tuned!

Deconstructed

Thank you to everyone who sent in their emails over the weekend. We now have a solid idea of what to add to the reorder of the recent Stryker Lock release, as well as a general sense of who's truly interested in Stryker Lock for future runs. The information has since been relayed to Mori and he is excited to roll out another round for all those that missed out. We're probably looking at a mid June return of the white version to the store.

Thanks again for taking part in this little experiment! We'll keep you updated as things roll along.

Thank You!!!

Tremendous thanks from both Mori and all of us here at Onell for the strong response to the first domestic Stryker Lock release.  It definitely turned out to be another intense run on our system, with an unfortunate shortage of supply versus the actual demand. Since the manufacturing process for Japanese soft vinyl is a much more laborious affair than Chinese rotocasting, the initial production run was based on how our previous RealxHead crossover releases had sold in the past. This number was then increased in anticipation of potential new interest in the RealxHead brand by folks who may have just discovered the magic of RealxHead. Clearly, the production numbers should have been even higher than what Mori and I had planned for, but walking the line between too much and too little is an increasingly difficult tightrope to navigate.

So, we are going to attempt something a little different with Stryker Lock. If you are interested in another chance at the white with black rub edition that we just offered on Wednesday night, please send an email to us at: info@onelldesign.com

Just let us know which style you prefer (or both) and if you would like multiples. Please include your name in the message and write Stryker Lock in the subject title. We will then see if we can adjust the rerun edition to cover everything that's requested and determine what the true demand actually is.

Mori and I consider the white version sort of the "Standard" color type, and Mori has already run two larger rounds over the last few months in Japan (our domestic run is actually the third production run of the white type). The new (4th) run will be virtually identical to the previous 3 editions, with some possible minor variations to the paint rub (Mori and the legendary Goto San apply everything by hand).

I'm not 100% positive that this will work seamlessly, but we are willing to try a different approach to get this new series out to all of you who dig it. Mori and I sincerely want anyone who'd like to check out Stryker Lock to have the chance to do so. The core concept behind this project is to supply a hybrid series that combines our two worlds into one that's easily accessible at a solid price, wherever you reside.

Thanks again for sticking with us as we adjust the dials over here! Together, I think we can tighten the system and most importantly, keep things positive and fun.

Lock On!

The new store is live!

The response on Stryker Lock has been absolutely intense, and we will be placing another order with Mori for a second edition of these two figures this week. We understand that the stock was burned through extremely fast, but please be patient as we adjust to meet demand. This is the very first domestic run of this series, and the numbers were already four times higher than anything we have previously run with RealxHead. Please leave your feedback here on the blog and we will collect all the information to relay to Mori.

Thank you for the positive response to this new project.

Stryker Lock

A crossover project that Mori and I have been discussing behind the scenes since back in 2011, Stryker Lock has finally come to fruition, with the first edition rolling out in Japan last month.

Stryker Lock was designed to continue merging the aesthetics of RealxHead and Onell Design, with a compact structure comprising of 11 separate parts and 10 points of articulation, packed into 4 inches of Japanese produced soft vinyl. These figures are meant to travel across our combined story arcs without limits, whether as mutant hunters, titanic watchers from beyond or simply armored warriors surviving within The Zone.

We are excited to announce that the first domestic edition will be popping up in the store this Wednesday, April 15th, at 9:30PM EDT.

There will be two types available:

Stryker Mohawk -White Soft Vinyl w/ Black paint rub and Metallic Blue Visor $30 USD
Made in Japan by RealxHead

Stryker Crossborg -White Soft Vinyl w/ Black paint rub and Metallic Blue Visor $30 USD
Made in Japan by RealxHead

As far as compatibility goes, due to its smaller stature Stryker Lock possesses a uniquely sized fit function system, with the head, lower arms and lower legs designed to be easily swappable with future Stryker Lock releases. We did add a few cross compatible features, the biggest one (even though it's very small) being a right hand that can firmly hold a Glyos peg (Glyos Grip!). This means that you can build a variety of blasters and assorted phase hardware from your existing Glyos parts to give your figure some additional firepower.

Mori's mastery of soft vinyl production was in full effect throughout this project, as he solved a number of challenging puzzles to get everything to work just right. The smaller scale and multiple part construction feels tight yet robust in hand, and the sculpting truly captures our original concept and design principles. The master of RealxHead, as always, put on a clinic.

Thank you Sensei!

More pics and information on the development of Stryker Lock will go up later today.

Banimon Havvacor Tank Unit

Took the Banimon Bunkerbuster for a spin on the rocks, accompanied by a Banimon parts only "Multi Mech" build.

Banimon Bunkerbuster!

Gigantic congratulations to our great friend and creator of Banimon, Boris Savic, on the impending release of his long awaited rotocast vinyl Banimon Bunkerbuster Tank, which will be available August 24th (tonight) at 7PM EST over in the Banimon Store! Also, check out his latest online comic, Banimon #4: Killer Science, HERE.

Boris has been working on his Banimon Tank project for the greater part of two years, tweaking and modifying the core design in an effort to make something functional and fun. Having a front row seat for the development of the tank has allowed me to really appreciate the creative process that Boris goes through, and his attention to detail truly shines through when you hold the Bunkerbuster in your hands. The overall aesthetic blends seamlessly with the existing Banimon PVC figures, and builds out the current Banimon universe by allowing a even larger spectrum to come into focus.

The tank is 100% compatible with all previous Glyos vinyl fit functions, and even has some PVC compatible ports located around the tank surface as well, which is a first! The play potential should find an interesting rhythm once this armored armada starts landing across the country. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of configurations surface using these new parts. Some color crossovers are definitely going to be in order.

Way to go, Boris! Here's to many more releases of this awesome new addition to the family!
