Our 11th anniversary wave is all set to roll out next Thursday, July 12th at 9:30PM EDT!
But before that, make sure to check out the Toyfinity store later tonight at 7PM EDT, as John will publicly debut an all new Toyfinity character with some very interesting connections to what we have cooking for Wave 74...
Finally, Hades V Argen rematch! Just in time for that 11th anniversary.
ReplyDeleteDoes the connection mean expect some crossovers from the extended mechanical family?
Hopefully a little time has gained them each some perspective (at the very least it's gotten them some new decos)
DeleteThis release will focus on a special project that we've been working on with Toyfinity. Over a year in the making!
Maybe Argen and Hades put aside their differences long enough to work on something in response to the Villser threat? Maybe something with the original crew of "Renegade" robots, even?
DeleteA guy can dream...
Revolution, Reinvention... Reconciliation? Argen seems to be on a path of redemption that I was hoping meant he'd reunite with Hades (and finally be in Hades Force colors) but if Hades is wearing new colors as well I'm curious how this is going to work out.
DeleteAny Gobons in the mix this time around?
ReplyDeleteGobon fans will hopefully be happy, even though there are no original Gobons in this wave.
DeleteProto Gobon?
DeleteOr some kind of new chapter in Gobon's existence? We never did see what became of that Gobon Renegade "Bell" sculpt from a few years back, after all...
DeleteYes, a renegade gobon with all the lines in the bell and the "true" or what was thought of as the "true" head for those that refuse to be deactivated. Hope I have the history right?
DeleteIf this is what I think it is then I am very excited.
DeleteI have missed Gobon. Hopefully I shall be pleased! I still want Halloween and Christmas themed Gobons. Also, a sky blue one.
DeleteNow that's a symbol we haven't seen in a long time.
ReplyDeleteWill we ever get to see a translation for all the Gendrone symbols, by the way?
It seemed fitting for what's on deck.
DeleteYou think folks might like to see the secret translations of our weirdo symbols? Let me check with Argen.
Just saying, it'd make for a great birthday gift. Hah!
DeleteThere goes my paycheck!
ReplyDeleteThrowback to the future! Maybe this time Argen can kill Hades!! Or they can put aside their quarrel and play parcheesi.
ReplyDeleteThey prefer Hungry Hungry Hippos, Zen.
DeleteNo one plays parcheesi any more.
DeleteJust saying, BitFigs would make for excellent Parcheesi pieces. Someone just needs to make a custom board.
Deleteand i would have thought them more the Mousetrap types...
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be sooo broke before vacation, but it's sooo worth it!
ReplyDeleteWe would LOVE to see the secret translations of the gendrone symbols!
ReplyDeleteDoes this maybe mean a return to the Villsercore minty fresh green, perhaps in the Villser sculpt? Crossing my fingers for black swing joints!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, it's gonna be a long week waiting for this! The vs waves have always been my favorite, looking forward to updating some of the evergreen factions in our collections!
ReplyDeleteWhat if it's not a versus, though? I mean, it seems like the Gendrones have been pretty chill with the Glyans for a couple of waves now, whom presumably Hades works for.
DeleteMaybe it's a reset on Hades' and Argen's relationship?
Between the faction symbol in use, the Gobon hints, and the shape of the new Zetonian's base... Dare I hope for production Renegades?
ReplyDeleteRenegades would be a welcome surprise, and at least with those new parts if we don't get it, we can certainly build our own!
DeleteI'm probably going to date myself by asking this, but what toyline are you referring to, TJ? The only "Renegades" toys I can find that have to do with robots are from Gobots, but that doesn't quite match up with the parts you mentioned.
DeleteRenegades were a series of Custom Corp Gobons that were bulked out with extra parts and given new, heavily sculpted heads. They used the same emblem that's teased on the silver image on this post.
DeleteSee also this comic for more info!
DeleteAh, thanks!
DeleteWith the recent hints of the Amorvors being off searching for new tech from the Delphi, I was suspecting we might get some new Hybrid Amorvor/Delphi sculpt...however with this drop looking more like a focus on the Gendrones, that seems unlikely, at least for now... To be honest I feel that the Delphi may remain elusive.
ReplyDeleteMatt, how does Govy fits into this drop? Will we see some additions to the build station utilizing Govy's head as the primary build?
The Delphi are a mysterious bunch, indeed. I imagine that when they do return, it will hopefully be worth the long wait.
DeleteIn the meantime, another group is poised to rumble into the picture this week!
There is a special Govurom project in the pipeline, but he won't appear in this wave (he's tied to another assortment).
It's amazing that after so many years, there are still characters from the Custom Corps runs that can capture our attention so well.
DeleteGood to hear that ol' Govurom is set for another appearance!
“Rumble” hmmm...any one else think that word might be a hint, if it refers to the new Roboforce Zetonian sculpt, or something else...
DeleteBlack metallic?
ReplyDeleteSilver metallic, but we tried to get a closer match to the old Gendrone Revolution type from the original run in 2011, with a deeper and slightly darker appearance.
DeleteCame out pretty neat!
Sounds great! Will it also have black accents like the original Revolution run, or will another color be added to the mix?
DeleteHow many different PVC (Vinyl???) Colors will we get this round?
DeleteThere are technically 9 different PVC colors in this assortment.
DeleteNo vinyl this time, just PVC.
Oh crap!! Must be a yuuuge drop!
DeleteCan’t wait for reveals!!
DeleteThe focus is on the special project & there are 9 PVC colors in the drop mix; Are we getting the new figure in more than 1 color on Thursday like the Villser debut drop?
DeleteThe new figure will be available in two colors on Thursday (each style will also feature a good amount of paint applications).
DeleteOh dang, that's cool. Maybe Hades will get his longtime partner back after all...?
DeleteSo it will look like this?
Deletehttp://database.glyos.com/2011/06/axis-armored-argen-mk-iii.html
That, my friend, is the best news on Glyos since the Villser reveal.
Color-wise, I mean.
DeleteThat's right in tune with what the silver metallic looks like, but with a different accent color.
DeleteAny metallics this time? This drop is a day after my birthday, so I'm tempted to go all out!
ReplyDeleteSilver metallic will be on deck for the usual accessories and a couple of figures.
DeleteAny LSA, Excellis, or Dark Traveler in the cut this time around?
ReplyDeleteNone of those guys are in the mix this time, but they will appear before the year is over (they factor into a later wave).
DeleteThe same wave as Govurom's project, perhaps?
DeleteI think you might be on the right track...
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of exciting, I remember the Dark Traveler had some connection to the Villser so it was strange to see he wasn't factoring in yet.
DeleteWe have some plans for the Dark Traveler that also connect to another crossover project that's coming into focus over here.
DeleteI love everything you guys do it is always amazing what you are coming up with. I am still holding out that rechlen and aves will show up this year. Thank you
ReplyDeletei can't wait!! but 9:30pm drops are hell on early day workers... *yawns*
ReplyDeleteAny more Toy Pizza? Those last guys were excellent! Would love to see more.
ReplyDeleteNo Toy Pizza crossovers this time, but keep an eye out in late August/ early September for more of that action in these parts.
DeleteSounds good! Can't wait for Thursday.
DeleteThis is my first ever comment here! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI really hope the tag of "Hades" was intentional, because I would LOVE to have one. I don't yet, and missed the only wave in my Glyos collecting with him. Also, ARGEN! Gendrones should be in every wave, at least until I get an army of them. :) And when is The Gendrone Chronicles ever going to be continued? Will it be?
P.S. I assume "Matt" means Matt Doughty (I hope I spelled that right). These kinds of websites should have an "Admin Notice" or something.
Matt Doughty reporting for blog duty, prepared to answer the Unknown!
DeleteYou will definitely see both Hades and Argen return for this wave, 100%.
As far as the Gendrone Chronicles go, Ralph, Marcus and I hope to eventually complete the second part of that arc when we pull all the various elements of the long in the works super book together.
You'd probably be surprised by how many unseen comics we've generated over the years, but we are truly working on finally getting them out there.
This is the most exciting news I have heard in long time. Any chance this “super book” might launch this year or next? I am beyond hyped for this thing to come out!!
DeleteI second that enthusiasm, to have an Omnibus of Glyos lore, oh what a treasure that would be!
DeleteWe've been working on gathering all the older works like a Gear's Edge reprint (with extra stuff) and a combined Rechlen and Aves book as well. The amount of drawings for both those projects alone could fill multiple books.
DeleteThe major focus, however, is the collected Ralph art/comics big book. Ralph and I are working on getting together so we can really make it happen.
I've been interested in running a tabletop rpg set in the Glyoverse, so an organised collection of lore would be invaluable
DeleteIt'd be amazing to have some Glyos books back on the shelf after so long. Here's hoping we see it come to fruition!
DeleteWelllll Mr. Unknown, I am working on a toy-based RPG book as we speak. And Glyos toys are in their too. I think there are stats for Travelers (1st & 2nd Generation varieties), Armorvors & Rigs last I checked. But with all these other new things Matt has been cranking out lately, I have to get to writing up more entries!
DeleteThere's actually 2 different unknowns here, because I'm the first one, and that second one is someone else. I should put in a name or a picture, probably.
DeleteDoes Hades have a new look as far as color goes?
ReplyDeleteSame basic color selections from before, but some new locations that are a little callback to a test version Hades that I painted while visiting the factory years ago.
DeleteI think I remember that Hades!
DeleteIt’s funny to see glyos posted on eBay after the waters have settled from the most recent drop. You know everyone is starting to look over their collections to see what they’re willing to part with in order to prepare their funds for the next drop! Lol also, interesting to see Hades on eBay go for like $36 and now another hades drop right after!!! Looks like everything comes back around eventually!
ReplyDeleteLOL, i've gotten a lot of what I need cuz people are selling collections. i did bid on that $36 Hades, but didn't win, again LOL. Never would have thought Hades would resurface, now I just need one reverse hallow both to complete my pod, never seen one on e-bay.
DeleteHaha Yeah. Over the years I've started to see the patterns. It's funny how the same figures can be released over and over again with a color change and the craving to consume never subsides. I guess we are all completists. I'm a bit worse though cause I need duplicates to build!
DeleteHope swing joints are going to be available?
ReplyDeleteSilver Swing Joint Sets will be available.
DeleteWaiting Patiently...
ReplyDeleteTo big questions: Might we be seeing the debut of more than one new figure this drop, say something in the 1/12 scale from 1000toys? And will there be a mystery figure this round?
ReplyDeleteThe 1000Toys project is set to rollout at the upcoming DCon event in November (judging from the test shots, this is going to be a fun one).
DeleteThere will absolutely be another mystery figure in the assortment, PLUS an additional small mystery bonus selection that's meant to add a little spice to the mystery figure itself.
We wanted to keep the bonus optional for folks so the price on the straight mystery figure is still in line with what we've been doing up to this point.
The mystery bonus is not necessary to complete the look, but it's a lot of fun to mix in. Basically something I really wanted to do for this particular homage and couldn't resist!
Do you mean a mystery Accessory Set? Or am I misreading you here, Matt?
DeleteBecause oh man, that would be interesting...
Mystery Glyarmor Set, specifically.
DeleteThat is freaking awesome, love the idea of bonus mystery Glyarmor. Speaking of extra sets, any chance we’ll be seeing that Villser extraset this year?
DeleteMystery Glyarmor...score!
DeleteGlyarmor is really one of those accessories that I really love because it is simple, fun and very easily bulks out an exisitng Glyos figure giving it a completely new look and feel. Annnd, since the armored head that comes with it has a removeable neck, you can totally put a small axis joint in it's place to give it some more neck articualtion. Plus the Varytex head is really cool too.
DeleteI've been steadily working on those special Villser parts and zeroing in on exactly what will be in the final mix. They're connected to a specific story arc that will have some action at the beginning of next year, so probably around that time you'll see what's been cooking.
DeleteI didn't catch this question amidst the comments until now!
It hadn't even occurred to me that the parts were still WIP. Awesome to know that they are still coming, and no worries with the lag on responding, I've been posting my fill of Q's here, and this one blog post has become quite the bear with 90 comments! Is that a new record?
DeleteWow, this drop is gunna be hype! Everyone is excited!
ReplyDeleteWill the new “Gobons” in this round include the complete Zetonian figure or will it be a mash up of Onell/Toyfinity (parts)? Also, will there be any “Toyfin Gendrones” in this wave? Thanks Matt, can’t wait for this to go live!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised there hasn't been any reveals today other than what has been leaked(?) on social media as per this "Vlixden". I don't like suspense...it can kill me.
ReplyDeleteSuspense is good for business. Sometimes. Nabisco does this all the time with Mallomars. Bring them out for a month or two and get people looking for them all year long. When, inevitably, they can’t find Mallomars in the heat of summer, they’ll buy Oreos instead.
