Back from the Past

To keep pace with the chaotic unknown that continues to unfold across the planet, we're going to spring a little surprise release out there tonight, April 17th at 9:30PM EDT with the intention of offering a temporary space to have a bit of fun within the current hell capsule that we're all navigating.

This will be a proper mini assortment, so we'll officially call it Wave 106, though it's a bit different than our usual rollouts, as it features a couple "countermeasure" figures that contain parts from long retired molds in combination with currently active ones.

Back in 2012 and 2013, we disposed of the original Govurom head mold (final runs in 2012) and the first Exellis head/chest/pelvis mold (final runs in 2013). Right before we closed those molds down, we produced some secret runs of the parts, holding them back for all these years, waiting for the right time for their release. Though assorted Govurom heads have popped up as random freebies in orders over the last decade, we never ran a "Standard" Govurom full production figure that reflected his appearance in the first Passcode and the first Custom Corps

Well, after 13 years, Govurom finally gets his moment tonight, decked out in extra paint, poncho armor (thanks Jesse D and Erwin) and a soft goods "Renegade" cloak. Accompanying the craggy half-Traveler/half-Sincroid will be the "Last Exellis", using central components that were run back in 2013 and never released until now. To round out Wave 106 we'll also have a third figure available, which connects directly to the ultimate fate of old Govurom.

If you're a longtime fan of Glyos, then this little assortment might be an extra special one for you.

  1. This seems like quite a monumental drop, small but mighty. Cady's previous rendering of Gearius had him staring into the Granthan sunset like Govourum once did, and now they even sport similar ponchos! My money was on an infiltrator buildman for the third figure but seeing Gorivoll tagged has me second guessing.

I'm guessing the current hell capsule is making international shipping less and less likely to return?

  2. Now that is some dedication to the craft Matt; sitting on figures for over a decade for just such an occasion. I still remember New York Comic Con 2010 when you debuted the Axis Joints sets that included a blank gray Govurom head and how crazy it was to get him. I've been reorganizing my Glyos as it's gotten out of hand over the years and I have been seeing some old figures, such as Spirico Exellis, pop up that I'd forgotten all about.

You've definitely caught my attention with this one and I'll be there tonight to see what you've got in store for all us "Old Guard" Glyos folks.

  3. What an incredibly exciting announcement. The original Exellis and Govurom have always been favorites of mine so I’m excited though simultaneously a little sad at this opportunity to get my hands on the final run of them, and with Govurom in his original colors no less!
I’m especially interested to see the details of this ultimate fate of Govurom. The encounter on The Cliffs of Granthan represents one of my favorite scenes in Glyos and I’m thrilled to be getting more from it. I’ve always wondered if Argen wasn’t the only one in that scene destined for more than this… a thought that has intensified with the enigmatic Gorivoll cropping up in recent years.

  4. Go Go Govurom!!

Please tell that you have some of that luscious red on hand to match a certain Colossal wave that bubbled up recently. The Nine Feline Riders have left Minas Morgul disguised as kittens in black (and tabby and white) and we poor Hobbitlites of the Shire do dearly ask for aid.

I wish you well in these far too interesting times.

  5. Exellis!! Lamentably I missed the early days and thus spend most of my time admiring pictures of the early Exellis releases and scouting the various, at times hazardous, glyos internet cantinas for parts. Thanks for providing a break from the rollercoaster! LHB.

  6. Something about this feels very glyos in its execution it's wonderful as ever even if that's brought about by uncertain times. As is tradition even though I'm certain it's not the case can a glyan be expected on deck this wave?

  7. Yes! Words are not adequate to express my excitement for this wave. For years, I have tried to figure out the parts to build a standard Govurom, but never had a head that was quite right (there were a couple in the Big Rig wave that were close). When I saw Gorivoll in dark red and yellow some waves back, I thought he looked mighty familiar. And then in the last drop, a couple of old Govurom bonus heads made it into the box, which I found VERY intriguing. (I even made one into a Govurom wearing a pirate coat.) So happy to see all of these theads finally coming together- and to see a fitting farewell to the OG Exellis.

  8. Oh man. An unrelased Govurom head was the first surprise part I ever received from you in an order years ago, around the time of Task Force Volkriun. That was one of the last OG Excellis releases too- just four more after. Still one of my absolute favorite headsculpts to this day; Redlaw hangs out on a shelf where I can wake up and see him every morning. :) What an exciting time for newer and older fans alike! Glyos has evolved so much both in toys and media, and somehow still managed to keep its mystique. Yet I often find myself drawn back to those earliest Passcodes; they're like the condensed form of that mystique in one place. Thank you, Matt. Truly looking forward to seeing what lies in store.

  11. From a narrative perspective, is Last Exellis his final incarnation in that form before he shifts to Elder Exellis?
