This "new" head is another deep connection point between Jason, Marty and I and serves as a special dedication to the years of collaborative work we did together on the Armorvor project.
Some longtime folks will recognize the core design, which has been updated for full production (now one of the most complex glue-in parts assemblies we've ever done for a single noggin).
This head is built directly from an authentic Godbeast cast of the original amazing sculpt by Jason, tightened/tweaked and separated by me for tooling. Our usual triple attack methodology.
I've personally wanted to bring this character into full production for a long time -a true bucket list item.
Marty and Jason are the best, and this head is especially dedicated to them, as well as all the fans of the Armorvor and the truly classic Battle Beasts line.
Vors have had some interesting story beats that seemed to start with Venjorun and the Delphi appearing in Wave 88; appearing without a Black Core, bearing Glyaxia insignias and working alongside Varteryx. Curious to see if this new addition will add to that story or start a new one.
And Silent Stones doesn't seem to refer to Volkria so I'm guessing this cool cat isn't one of the three cats from there? Perhaps the Delphi interfered with another race on Granthan? Looking forward to seeing them!
I really appreciate that you have been keeping track of the Armorvor arc throughout the years.
A brief nutshell story pathway:
-The Delphi find the original indigenous Armorvor species on Planet Volkria and "adopt" them as an extension of their "evolutionary experiments", granting them Black Core based technology and "psychic education".
-The Armorvor, led by Venjorun, rebel against the rules and systems of the Delphi (under the control of the Elder Masters) and war breaks out. Many Armorvor perish in the fighting, but they collectively refuse to surrender.
-The Elder Masters order the Delphi to exterminate all the Armorvor and leave no traces of their existence.
-Deeply conflicted by the order to destroy their "children", the Delphi move the surviving Armorvor into the Zorennor Rift to a secret planetoid they name Armorrea, a refuge that will eventually also shelter other oppressed lifeforms.
-Due to the inability of the Elder Masters to "see into" the Zorennor Rift, the Armorvor remain hidden.
-To keep the the Armorvor safe, the Delphi in turn rebel against the Elder Masters, scattering throughout time space and going into hiding, but not before sealing the Zorennor Rift.
-Eventually, the Zorennor Rift reopens and the Armorvor, once again led by Venjorun, mount an assault on all of Glyos in an effort to reclaim what they believe is their true homeworld, Planet Volkria.
-Many battles are waged across Glyos, which is now under the watch of the Travelers, who the Elder Masters "created" to replace the Delphi.
-Realizing that their numbers and strength are not enough to win the new war, Venjorun brokers a peace deal with Glyaxia Command and the Travelers, agreeing to join their system in exchange for free passage and trade for his people between Armorrea and Glyos.
-An uneasy truce remains in place, but there are those that still believe that the Armorvor should take back their rightful place as the true inheritors of the Glyos System.
-One such outspoken voice is the battle-hardened warrior known as Liocarrus, an orphaned cub raised and trained by Venjorun himself.
There's some exciting hints in this expansion of The Record of the Delphi. With Armorrea housing other lifeforms, is it possible that this new head is tooled with some other new Vor species? (Assuming this is new and not a replacement to current tooling) And with the uneasy truce hanging in the balance, will Vors start appearing in Mimic colourways again soon?
Katsuichi sensei? One eye. Leonine look. Ticks all the boxes from the neck up. Of course it’s not an Usagi Yojimbo homage…
Even if it’s metallic pink.
Any chance that the Delphi’s adopted children will be mixing it up with their Kydrothi and Waellex sibling rivals? Keeping the interstellar conflict in the family, as it were.
Or maybe that’s just what Viyer looks like under the helmet.
That’s enough bad takes from me. Hope the snow hasn’t been too terrible for you.
Zen! The Armorvor seem to be on a collision course with their cosmic "uncles and aunts" for sure.
The rumor amongst the Travelers is that the Armorvor have developed a "Traveler Killer" weapon, which if true, shifts the playing field in favor of those beasts from Armorrea.
Or maybe my remaining brain cells are just frostbitten from all this damn snow.
I get the feeling this might be an ambush. Can we expect some camouflage or other earthy tones to keep these predators concealed, or will we see something a bit more colorful worn by these new felines? Also very interested to learn who the progenitors of this species are, maybe the Delphi are enlisting some new talent to fend off their brethren? - Witchwitchwitch
The Delphi continued to "assist" other species in their accelerated evolutionary programs, even after rebelling against the Elder Masters.
Over time, Planet Armorrea grows into a blended society of many different creatures, all sharing genetic markers with their "parents", the Delphi, capable of reproducing across the different species.
You'll see 3 Armorvors, 3 Travelers and 2 Crayboth tomorrow night. Also, some matching Axis Joints for select figures. Each figure factors into a new story arc we've been cooking up.
This image…Glyos Royalty, as in King of the beasts! If he shows up in white = instant Battle Beast (think Invincible universe)…but any colorway he debuts in will be a must-have.
Since the topic of colorways is relevant (unrelated to the Pirate Lion in the room), definitely wondering if there'll be some stragglers of the Buildborn variety in the future. Definitely needing some Rig Killer and Argenesis action going on...
Along with the new assortment of figures will also be the extra stock from the Reorder Preorder Infinite Pheyden wave. This includes the Infinite Sarvos Buildborn, Infinite Pheyden Standard and Infinite Anti-Pheyden Phrangoss.
This wave and most likely all the waves for 2026 will continue to be on the smaller side, to keep things fluid and not overwhelm as the world continues to spin in weirder ways.
I know everyone is excited for BB colorways and so forth, but here me out. This King and Kugarrec... Kilrathi, Kzinti. Basically I need some warring space cats lore for my younger self who read Niven and played Wing Commander. Even before WC became FMV enhanced games with Mark Hamill.
Cats, large and small, are very loved over here as well. I had Hutch for 20 years and still think about him just about every day. You can bet that felines will stalk and sneak around Glyos for as long as this ship keeps sailing.
Will complete pink and blue infinite pheydens be available this drop or at a later date? I have been unable to complete these figures alongside many other collectors. Thanks and looking forward to the drop regardless.
Been keeping track of the requests and currently the amount of people that have asked for the bonus figures to be available for purchase has not been high enough to justify running them without a preorder.
The current plan is to potentially run said preorder within the next couple of months.
Additionally, we will most likely not run bonus Infinite parts again and will shift back to other items for the stowaways.
It was fun to do for the initial waves, and I'm grateful we were able to share the parts for free in some form.
Very exciting reveal! The original lion head is one I’ve dreamed of seeing in production for a very long time. The potential of what Liocarrus will unleash on the Glyos System has my imagination churning.
Any chance we see the Delphi return? We've seen a Dark Delphi in the very distance past (CC). Any chance we see them return? i'd love to see a production Delphi with the bio-phantom milky head with red eyes and black armor make an appearance.
DOUGHTY! Nice to see what I think this is finally emerge! Color me excited! I'll be at the drop will bells on, I have to grab at least one of the new guys, always fun seeing the spiritual successor of Battle Beasts show up in the shop. If you need suggestions for another head to give the production treatment, I vote for that sick Alligator head Frailey sculpted. That or the bat head would be killer.

ReplyDeleteNew 'vors to usher in the new year! Though it does seem like we might have to wait a bit longer to find out what the Kydrothi might be cooking up...
ReplyDeleteThat head definitely looks all new, is it finally time for a White Leo homage?

I'm also wondering about that name. Does Liocarrus refer to a mythological son that meets his downfall by ignoring his fathers advice?
DeleteWill there be any Armorvors in this drop?
ReplyDeleteAffirmative.

ReplyDeleteThe Glyans are currently working on some new tech.

Deletea thrilling tease! I've got 3d models of battle beasts weapons ready to upscale and print for the eventual pirate lion homage release!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Armorvor will decide to take up more traditional arms later this year.
DeleteThose Delphi engineered Survival Suits probably get a little boring after so many battles.

ReplyDeleteSuper excited for this next wave! Any chance the Delphi are making a return to check in on their furball children? -Brett B.
ReplyDeleteHey Brett! The Delphi will appear later this year.
DeleteGreat work on your Toycast pod with Gordon. What an outstanding resource for creating homegrown figures, run by two truly unique megaminds.
Finally! Missed out on all the Delphi drops so far, only makes sense they'd enter the picture again with new Armorvor developments.
DeleteDoes make me wonder if they'll also reunite with their Elder siblings around that time...
I'll be refreshing this page daily so I don't miss the release :)
