The Council Of Travelers -UPDATED INFO-

UPDATE: Due to some shipping delays that were confirmed just a bit ago, the release date is now planned for Wednesday, DECEMBER 12th, at 9:30 PM EST. So the drop is now on 12/12/12. I'm sorry for the date hopscotch, but shuffling things ensures that we have everything on hand before the sale, and I don't like taking chances with the increasing holiday shipment backup from overseas.

Leading up to the new date we will be posting some special things that have never been made public before, from production color mechanical drawings (and DIY files), to completely forgotten sketches and pics of lost sculpts.  Kind of like the Twelve Days of Christmas, but Glyos style.

I hope you guys are OK with the date change. We promise to make the extra time leading up to the release well worth it!

Sorry for the delay! Photographing these colors made my eyes cross -as per usual! The "Plum" color is especially challenging to nail consistently, mainly because old PMS 3375 is in the highlight role again. I figured we had to end the year with that hue somewhere in the mix! It just screams "sci-fi" to me. The Plum color has a special place in the internal history of Glyos, originally being the first color selection for a specific character back in the early days of production. Can you guess who it was? This combination was what inspired the Dimension Drifters Custom Corps, which was also influenced by the Sentinels from X-Men, those glorious mutant hunting bastards!

This round has a few "contained" builds that will be available straight from the store, fully assembled. The cost is simply the sum of all the components combined. We have received numerous requests to offer these types of builds in their complete form, so let's see how it goes! The Council Guard Phase Defender is made from parts that are only available in its particular build formation. Gendrone Legion Argen MK VII (a nice mouthful) in his Rig Killer form will be available in a complete form and also as the separate components. I look forward to seeing what you guys think.

There will be purchasing limits on select items:

  2. What a line up of stuff! Some really cool colors too.

  3. Gorgeous work! Those builds are amazing! Love the purples, very grape soda-y. I won't know where to jump in on drop night. Great work Matt!

  4. Shit.... Meet pants.

This looks amazing. I'm a HUGE fan of offering the contained builds and having the biggest yet, with some special paint options no less, as available to buy is just awesome. It really adds something special in terms of "character" plus gives us all sorts of ideas as to what can be done with building.

The purples and teal color combos are just gorgeous! Was worried I might miss this drop as I'm out of town without internet more or less, but I just had to find a way to make it happen!

I'm a big fan of the teal color that's been in most of the waves this year, too. I hope it makes an appearance as one of the colors in some future vinyl build heavy wave!

As always thanks and keep up the awesome work.. now excuse me as I spend the next several hours working out a purchas list :)

  5. My, but those are pretty. No separate sets for the plum stuff? Truth be told, that only makes them a builder's paradise!

Still not sure what I can afford this drop, but you know I'll be in for at least some of the metallic blue!

    1. Adding that the center Council Guard may now be my favorite contained build you've done to date. There's so much going-on with that bruiser! Will there be better pictures of the guard trio at some point? I'm just dying to try and make one m'self!

      Delete
    2. One more minor add: that same Guard in the center? Is that based on Samus Aran?

And oh crap, just noticed that there are Stealth 'Vors. Add that to the Day-Glo Sarvos-Crayboth pair...oh, is this gonna be tough to fit under $60!

  6. I cried happy man tears when I saw that list and those pictures. My wallet and wife will hate me. Those are great colors. Was plum the first color used on phanost? I'm really interested in finding out the history of teh plum color. I've seen it used as a test shot color a couple of times. How was it first used in glyos?

  7. This is gonna be my second purchase of glyos and I am pumped! Making a build list and making sure that day is absolutely free.

  8. Not that it matters because we'll be able to make any of them, but what configuration will the council gaurds be delivered in? Or will it be a random 1 of the 3 shown?

  9. Holy crap I wish the move back to Florida hadn't wiped me out haha. These colors are fantastic. The sentinel homage is right up my alley. The gold and blue are beautiful as well. Nice year end assortment Matt!

  10. This is pretty much too much for me. The color schemes are all exactly where my mood has been lately... Not sure if it's the excitement over the new drops or if it's legitimately stars aligning for my favorite colors to be combined, but it's been happening a lot lately with your color choices. The black and gold in particular is a color combo I've been greatly enjoying with non-Glyos stuff, to see it here is nuts. I can't wait to go bankrupt on this drop.

  11. My mind has been blown. Easily my favorite drop since Passcode.

  12. Well, there goes my plan of a Syclodoc and a Hi-Phaseon to finish out the year! I absolutely love purple, especially dark purples, so Naspoth and/or Ullexono is a definite thing, even if it means getting a Phaseon Caliber instead of a Gendrone Legion Hi-Phaseon.

And it might just be me, but that clear magenta certainly reminds me of the prototype Phase Arm / Gobon Blaster sets! I have a Gobon ball piece in that colour, and it looks pretty close! On the subject of colours, I'm not willing to take apart my Hades Styre, but if I was, I would love a mixed gold-and-black traveler set!

Ironically, the original Rig Killer build was what convinced me to buy Glyos in the first place, but I don't really like the build in-hand! Personally, I love building Hi-Phaseons and the like myself (even if it does cause some serious hurting on my fingers, especially with axis joints and Hub pins!), but it's cool to offer them pre-assembled, and I'm sure plenty of people will jump at the chance, like with the Deep Space Glyans from a ways back.

My little brother, being a 9-year-old, is WAY more into the building aspect of Glyos than me -- he loves to combine them with all of his other building toys (LEGO bricks, K'nex, etc.) and create huge spaceships and buildings for his Glyos creations to interact with. He's sure to get a kick out of all the metallic blue in this drop, since blue is his favourite colour!

Finally, I'm amazed at all the new stuff constantly coming out! My first drop saw the Core Blocks and Rig Runners, then there were the Hubs and Tri-Wedges, and now a new Armodoc head! It's been a busy year, and here's to many, many more years of Glyos!

....and regarding anything I might have said in the comments for the last post, just ignore them. I really don't know what I was thinking rambling like that about nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Eep! I know I tend to ramble at length about things I'm really, really excited about, but sorry about that huge comment!

  14. WHOA! Awesome colors!! I was just about to go to bed after playing Skylander Giants WAY to late, but these colors are looking really really slick. I'm digging the new Armodoc head, I will try to grab one of those for myself as well as some Hub sets. I didn't see it on the list, unless I missed it, but will there only be the metallic blue HUB sets or will the purple hues also be available?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I believe, based on what Matt said, the purple Hubs, Phase Arms, and Axis Joints are only available in $22 sets, which is rather disappointing for lower budgets, I'm sure.

I'm not that big of a builder, so I don't really mind. But I'm sure plenty of people will.

    2. I'm strictly a builder, and that news is a bit troublesome for me. Though I suppose those contained builds are made up of things I'd end up buying anyway, which alleviates some of the sting. Not to mention there are a bunch of Metallic Blue pieces to buy up as well. It at least streamlines any shopping lists people have put together!

Excellent colors in this wave, nonetheless.

    3. @Josh: It helps that the contained stuff is just pairs of the things builders would get anyway. If nothing else, it makes things easier for us symmetry nuts who like having even numbers of everything, just in case!

      Delete
    4. That's what I was thinking it was, just wanted some clarification. Okay, so I'll be getting some of these sets then to get the purple Hubs, I have some plans for that colorway.... :-D

      Delete
    5. But for those of us who like Phase Arms more than Axis Joints and Hub Sets (not least of all for being half the price), it's a bit of a bummer for anyone wanting to make some of the amazing Phase Arm / Gobon Blaster / Traveler builds from days gone by.

I wouldn't have the budget for it this drop anyway! But one of these days, I'll get a couple travelers and a bunch of Phase sets all in the same colourway.

    6. Honestly, unless I was able to order more than one of the Council Guards, I'd be gutted to dismantle it for parts. Its definitely one of my favorite contained builds that we've seen on the blog. Painted Phase Arms are kindasorta blowing my mind. It was a delayed reaction.

      Delete
    7. @KDC: I'm sure that there are folks willing to split the Phase Defender set up, if worse comes to worse!

  15. Oh, ouch. Payday being Saturday is really going to hurt this time around. I'll live vicariously through pretty pictures, no doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  16. GOLDAR ARMORVOR! He will be mine, just need wings and a sword.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love that the colors also have a winter feel to them without moving toward the trite white, red and green palette typically used. The clear Block backdrop is perfect as an ice fortress too.

When I saw the Phase Defender, my first thought was 'oh no, is that the only way to get the accessory kits?' But I guess it is made up entirely of accessory kits, so it's a good way to pick up a bunch without all the clicking.

Crossing my fingers that it comes through for Friday!

  18. Matt, don't worry about the delay! Things happen, and so long as you always are consistent in delivering the highest quality of product (which you always are, without a doubt), there will never be an issue! Good luck, and can't wait to see what happens in the coming weeks!

    1. That said - I love the metallic colors in this drop. They're like my dad's old Archer Space Men, which are dear to my earliest personal SciFi concepts. And the Red Comet Armodoc is right up my wish-list of color combos. Thanks, Matt!

  24. Delays happen, but that seems pretty long. It's actually the day after I have my finals, so I hope I'll be able to make it! On that note, will you be taking requests? Personally, I want to know all about the concept and history of the Villsers.

  25. Great colorways, loving the Dire Wraith guys. All the extra touches this drop are amazing, from painted Phase Arms to the eyes matching the metallic blue for great mashups in the lineup, you've really stepped it up a notch again. With the new stuff this time, and the array of colors like an old drop, this has brought the whole Glyos timeline together very nicely.
More pics and cool stuff leading up to the drop!?! Nice. Always worth a wait, but this turns the delay into a good thing.
You're not going to hit us with a name like 'Council of Travelers', a new armodoc, and great colorways, without more of the story, right?? :)

  27. PERFECT !!! Thanks to the later drop date I can relax and get ready for my X-Mas shopping. If the drop was this Friday I would've needed help with my order... no on-line access at home...
    TANX Matt ;P

  28. I'm loving the colors and the figures, but I think I'm the only one who's not happy with the date change. I got my wife to agree to buy this drop as my Christmas presents.

  29. It's all cool on delaying the release. I've almost completely gotten rid of the shakes since the last drop, and I'll be looking forward to a couple of weeks of sobriety before getting my next plastic fix.

    ReplyDelete
  30. oh man... I'm going to have to be careful here... I need the armodoc, travelers and armorvor... those complete builds look sweet too... I can't buy many multiples though...

I love them all though, especially the armorvor
