Microshow Nanobots

The little "Nanobots" shown above are another few refugees from the old Microshow booklet. The size on these two is extra tiny, with joints raided from the forgotten Robo Wheels line by Mattel (with designs by PLEX). Their bodies are sculpted from plumbers compound and the backpack on Nanobot Korec (the brown one) is made from cut and glued fake leather.

Having "companion" mini robots running around is a classic concept, so naturally I could not resist slipping the idea into the jumble-rama that was the Microshow.

This pair spent a ton of time in my pocket (they were built in 2004), yet somehow managed to survive all the travel. Seeing them next to the Glyan up there is kind of a trip, as they look like some kind of mini mecha munchkins.

  3. I know these are where they should be, with Matt and family... But I gotta say...
"These belong in a museum!" *in gruff Harrison Ford voice. :)

  4. Great to see these little guys again! Really impressive stuff. I bet they'd also be right at home in a Starcom playset or such. :D

  5. Killer stuff. Some of these old posts make a guy wish that we could see Glyos-compatible production pieces along the same lines. Having a version of Aulis (?) to beef-up with Hub parts would be fun, no doubt.

  6. Starcom! The scale reference next to the Glyan really makes you appreciate the detail that went in to these little buggers.

  7. Wow, they're really small! The Nanobots were my favorite entry in Microshow in both concept and design. I like the idea of robotic partners with a human personality imprint as a contrast to the Neo-Sincroids, which are kind of like an artificial life form.

  9. HA! I remember Robo Wheels!!! I had a bunch of those little figures, they were really awesome. I dunno if they went the big A-way during one of my collection purges, but if I still have some I'll have to bust'em out.

It always blows my mind how much detail you're able to cram into a such a tiny sculpt. The fact that these are SMALLER then a Glyan and still as details is amazing.

I also love the idea of miniature robots/figures, companion/side-kick figures are awesome additions & add a lot of play value.
