Swing of Things

Old concept, new application.
After many years of playing around with the prototypes, a new item we call the Swing Joint Set is prepared to enter the mix.
Pics of the parts in action coming shortly.
Also, the list for the new April Wave is almost done and will be up at the end of this week.
We're excited to get back to it!

  1. Wow. I have a feeling my Extra Sets will be receiving some new limbs shortly. Is this green a test shot color, or a colorway for this drop? And what's that lurking in the top corner?

    1. Hey Pete! These are just the test shot colors, the actual wave is run in PMS 185C Red (a bright "Fisher Price" red) and a Warm Grey 4C (which we have not run before). The third color is PMS Black with red accents.

All the colors build well together and have no detail lines. This is the sequel to the Sonesidar Wave and is specifically designed to mesh with that assortment color wise.

I worked out a few new small Contained Builds to try putting together for this round as well.

    2. Red and warm gray? So how similar would it be to the original Venjorun colors, perchance?

    1. Thanks Nate! Elbows and knees add some new twists to the standard figures. The Glyan in particular looks kind of neat fully integrated with these new parts.

Just a tiny nudge in the evolution of these mini melmans! Ha!

  3. Hey Ghost - Thats the top of a painted hub set (DSG Helmet, if you will) in orange and black...

    1. That is a beefed out Hub build indeed! Though the color is more of a red (PMS 185C to be exact).

    1. Thanks Charles! I really think you are going to build some very intense stuff with these new parts. The mechanics lend themselves to Terminator endo-monstrosities and more classic angles. I imagine your style will bring these pieces to all new places!

I've had a beefed up Glyan riding around since the test shots came in and everything has held up nice and tight.

  6. Cool! Can't wait to see these in action, especially since they look to have a 90-degree angle when in a "neutral" position. Should lead to some innovative builds.

What are the odds we'd see some of these released in older colorways, though? I'd personally love to see some in the colorways from the last drop, if nothing else!

    1. Hey Roy! The angles have been pushed to more traditional points of movement, but you can still connect the small Axis balls and parts of the Phase Arm flush to the inner walls. This made for some small compromises as far as preserving a thicker look, but the measurements being compatible was really worth it.

The goal with this project was originally to make a more traditional option for articulation, yet maintain the building abilities of everything else that we have done.

These parts were actually developed some time ago, and the physical prototypes have been floating around the desk for about 3 years! The Swing Joints almost went into production once before, but it took until now to get everything to feel just right.

Hopefully you guys will enjoy them!

    2. Compromises only lead to creativity, at least when you look at it a certain way. I'm curious to see what you mean by the small Axis and Phase Arm comments, though. And what new Contained Builds will be coming down the pipe now?

  8. This drops colors sound great, very amped to see them. I've been hoping to get to add more red to my shelf, that seems to be a color not often seen in the Glyos universe. Will we be seeing a red/grey Gobon like the one from the concept sketch post a few months back?

Can't wait to see the new joints in action!

    1. In general we don't run a lot of red, but now seemed like a good time, especially with the intense Fisher Price obsession going on over here!

Gobon, Phaseons and Buildman are sitting this one out once again, but will return in the next few months. With the Swing Joints rolling out, we didn't want to overload everybody with too much in the store in the way of molds. You will see Travelers, an Armorvor, Glyans, all the accessory sets and a new Syclodoc.

The size of the release will be very similar to the Sonesidar assortment but we have increased the quantities across the spectrum. Not crazy increases like the upcoming Buidstation, but higher than the last round.

  12. Hey everyone, NEW TOYS !!!
Dammit Matt, you're making it real hard to keep to my Microman roots and only buy clear figs. I spent the last few days hoping the next wave would be a color that I would not want. BUT that red... so much for my plan. AND new joints... I luv you guys. Hey about the new Syclodoc, will he come w/both heads or was that a special thang we got with the 1st one ???

  13. Oh geeze, red/black, my FAVORITE color combo. I'm dead.

  14. Awesome news Matt!! It's cool to see the traditional joint enter the Glyos universe. I'm hoping these joints will be integrated into new figures as time marches forwards. I'll definitely have to pick up a few of these to test them out. I'm thinking they'd make excellent hinges for cockpit doors or safety bars on exo-suits.

Could these also be used to make Doctor Octopus-like tentacles or Omega Red tendrils? I.e. do they connect together top-to-bottom? If so, I know if you make these in silver I will totally have to buy enough to make some for a Glyan or too. Ooooo...an Omega Red Canne'boid would be sick! O_O

  15. From Matt: "...you can still connect the small Axis balls and parts of the Phase Arm flush to the inner walls."
and Chris "Bah'glenn" Negri: "Could these also be used to make Doctor Octopus-like tentacles..."

These ideas crank heart rate -- I suppose to get more blood into my swirling brain.

I'm going to end up with a million of these things... I hope you ran a lot for the first batch, because they're going to sell out in seconds

I can't wait to have Glyans with actual elbows and knees
