Mini Mission Details

The Crayboth have found an interesting rhythm around here this year, after lurking in the background for the majority of their collective existence. This mini release gives the little (and now sometimes big) guys one more round in the spotlight before the year comes to an end. Themed to coincide with the upcoming Halloween festivities, we just couldn't resist the opportunity to make a jack o'lantern inspired Crayboth! Rounding out the assortment of Crays for Sunday night's release are a few other Autumn born color selections, as well as a throwback color mix from our early days (Spirico).

Exploring the different angles of a familiar landscape is very much at the core of Glyos in general, and can sometimes be a divisive aspect of how this project operates. Reproducing the same basic design and finding ways to evolve the source material is a challenge that we still really love around here, and the specific production limitations can actually promote creativity in unexpected ways. After all these years, I still carry a figure around in my pocket no matter where I go, and I do it every day. That small piece of plastic serves as a connection to the dreams of my youth, and reminds me that I never gave up on chasing them. I personally hope that you find something that makes you smile around here, something that makes you feel creative, and that you know the people behind Glyos still absolutely love sharing this strange world with you.

We are still on track for Sunday night, October 26th at 9:30PM EST.

  2. Wait a second...is that Super Cray articulated at the waist, or is that just a trick of the camera angle?

    1. Yes, it is, but Super Cray' have always been articulated at the waist.

    2. Ah, okay. I never realized that. I thought they were the regular 5 piece construction.

  3. Oh man Matt, Tracker Sarvos looks GREAT! And I can't resist a Sarvos release! Hopefully it won't sell out too quickly and I'll be able to grab a Tracker, and ore two figs from buildstation I've been meaning to pick up. Looking forward to Sunday night!

  4. Spirico Returns!

Spirico Exellis was my first Traveler and is still a strong favorite. Awesome news!

    1. Here's hoping it's a harbinger of a Spirico wave to come! I know we had the Volkria run a while back, but those didn't quite pop the way that the Spirico greens do, alas...

    1. Hey Missy, we miss you too! Another SRGM show is being kicked around, so I hope we can time that as a possible mini get together opportunity again.

  6. AWESOME! This release is super exciting. I'm so glad everyone can now have a production Tracker Sarvos. If I remember when this comes in I'll try to get pictures of the production version next to the original CC version.

    1. That would be awesome. I still remember when you revealed that you'd nabbed it, too.

    2. Thanks, Brian! It will be great to see that comparison pic, from the true owner of the original version. I hope you like the production type when it gets to you!

  7. Oh dear lord. That Super Cray' looks thoroughly wicked. Another broad selection of Crayboth to wallow in and Graver should mix-and-match nicely with earlier build colors.

"The Crayboth have found an interesting rhythm..." Yeah, that rhythm is the pulse of my wallet. :P

    1. And the usual question: how do the magenta and orange hues match up with previous releases?

      Delete
    2. Cappy!

The magenta is more on the red side of things, and doesn't exactly match anything from the recent years, though it does look kind of neat with the Neo Gatekeeper purple.

The orange matches very closely to the recent Granthan LSA, as well as the Vanguard base PVC from John's Robo Force line.

The Graver Crayboth is the result of a recent test batch of metallic/pearlescent gray, which came out looking like some kind of silverstone material. It has unique qualities that seem to be best appreciated in hand.

  8. Wow! Those Crays are totally unexpected, and look like they'll be welcome additions to the 2014 collection. Are the "face apps" going to be standard going forward?

What's most exciting, however, is that Tracker. That there will be accessory packs in different colors means that, for those of us wanting something closer to the original, we can swap out bits and pieces for the left shoulder and arm, and that is awesome. Not to mention that we'll be able to have palette-swapped Trackers with all of the extra sets, too.

Well done. This is possibly the best small drop anyone could've asked for!

    1. Thanks Roy!

The face paint app on the Cray is not a permanent thing, but it has been fun to explore the option. We have Jeremy and Brian over at Spy Monkey Creations to thank for being the first to do it in full production!

The Tracker set has some interesting options that are very much in line with your thinking. Later today you'll see some of those alternate Tracker forms and what you can create with the parts.

I'm happy you like this round!

  9. Does the Tracker Sarvos match any recent blacks? Like the Rig Crew Black? I'm really hoping, cause that'd introduce a lot more build options.

Even if no recent black matches it exactly, I'll still be hunting down a Super Crayboth!

    1. Hey Josh! The black matches up very closely to the Rig Crew black, looking maybe just a pinch less saturated. I've been mixing the two runs, as the intention is to have particular color compatibility between the Crayhunters, Rig Crew, Trackers and the upcoming late November/early December release.

    2. Excellent! Looks like I'll be buying a little more than originally planned then. Can't pass up that Tracker now.

  10. Oh man, red, gray, black!!! Colors from my favorite drop ever!!!

I've been so busy that I kept forgetting to check on updates in the last couple weeks. Imagine my excitement(and luck) to discover that a drop was happening TO-NIGHT. I can't wait to get ahold of both of the travelers, and whatever crays I can afford.

Thanks again for knocking another out of the park, Matt and co.! It's an absolute joy to be a part of the magic that is glyos.
