A crossover project that Mori and I have been discussing behind the scenes since back in 2011, Stryker Lock has finally come to fruition, with the first edition rolling out in Japan last month.
Stryker Lock was designed to continue merging the aesthetics of RealxHead and Onell Design, with a compact structure comprising of 11 separate parts and 10 points of articulation, packed into 4 inches of Japanese produced soft vinyl. These figures are meant to travel across our combined story arcs without limits, whether as mutant hunters, titanic watchers from beyond or simply armored warriors surviving within The Zone.
We are excited to announce that the first domestic edition will be popping up in the store this Wednesday, April 15th, at 9:30PM EDT.
There will be two types available:
Stryker Mohawk -White Soft Vinyl w/ Black paint rub and Metallic Blue Visor $30 USD
Made in Japan by RealxHead
Stryker Crossborg -White Soft Vinyl w/ Black paint rub and Metallic Blue Visor $30 USD
Made in Japan by RealxHead
As far as compatibility goes, due to its smaller stature Stryker Lock possesses a uniquely sized fit function system, with the head, lower arms and lower legs designed to be easily swappable with future Stryker Lock releases. We did add a few cross compatible features, the biggest one (even though it's very small) being a right hand that can firmly hold a Glyos peg (Glyos Grip!). This means that you can build a variety of blasters and assorted phase hardware from your existing Glyos parts to give your figure some additional firepower.
Mori's mastery of soft vinyl production was in full effect throughout this project, as he solved a number of challenging puzzles to get everything to work just right. The smaller scale and multiple part construction feels tight yet robust in hand, and the sculpting truly captures our original concept and design principles. The master of RealxHead, as always, put on a clinic.
Thank you Sensei!
More pics and information on the development of Stryker Lock will go up later today.

That's an astonishingly low price for so many pieces!
ReplyDeleteThese look awesome. And the price is low enough that I'll be biting for sure.
ReplyDeleteOne of my only concerns is that these being Japanese vinyl will they be able to hold up with a lot part swapping/play?
I'm quite a newbie in the sofubi world but most of the pieces I do own I don't play around with them too much due to my fear of over stressing or tearing the vinyl.
Is swappability an afterthought or is it a prominent part if this line?
Just basically wondering about the durability.
But super excited for this line.
In general, Japanese soft vinyl is just about unparallelled in terms of quality and durability, and these figures have been experiencing nonstop play for well over a month. I think you will be happy with how they hold up!
DeleteThanks!
Happy Birthday to ME !!! You guys always know how to treat me GREAT. See ya Wed. :)
ReplyDeleteMatt,
ReplyDeleteAny word if the dome piece on the Hub set could fit with these figures? Or will only the fist fit with Glyos pegs?
Hey Harlan! There are definitely some possibilities for cross combining the PVC and the JP vinyl, particularly with the Buildman parts (the Buildman backpack side cylinder parts fit right inside the Stryker Lock female shoulder points firmly).
DeleteEven though the diameters on the Stryker Lock figures are different than our normal rotocast vinyl, the doorway to alternative customizing is not closed because of it.
I've been making blasters and mechanical replacement arms from only Buildman parts with pretty good results. Some pics will pop up later today.
I need both in my life I can't deny it... So excited.
ReplyDeleteNoooo. I'll be at work at that time. I guess I'll sneak away for a moment
ReplyDeleteI want both so bad, but I am so broke. So, I'll gladly settle for one! These are built to hold up, right?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait! I've always loved the looks of RealxHead stuff, but could never afford one. I can't wait to add one to my collection for such an awesome price. Now, which one do I get?!
I think I gotta go with Crossborg.
These look really neat, definitely on board, really dig the Stryker Mohawk. I could see him as a kind of galactic enforcer or a ballast type figure, making sure order is kept and that things don't get too imbalanced in the Glyos system. He's the guy you don't want to see when things get bad, because if you do it's all getting cleaned up...he wipes the slate clean!
ReplyDeleteI don't own any RealXHead pieces or anything like it really, so thanks for making it possible. Can't wait to see where this arc takes us.
Matt, any chance we see these in plastic on a smaller scale, as a standard Glyos figure? Hell, I'd love to just see a Glyos compatible head.
I am absolutely right there with you on that. I would LOVE to see both Stryker and Lock figures in the smaller Glyos scale OR just even make the heads available as additional heads for Glyans since the body type is pretty similar.
DeleteYes!! Spread the RxH love in the USA!
ReplyDeleteI have several of the 6" RxH figures and a couple the Chaos CC figures, so I can't wait to add these guys to the mix and have a full on Glyos vs RxH blow out!
ReplyDeleteSo can anyone fill me in on the Stryker Lock backstory, if there is one to share? I so want mythology for these guys
ReplyDeleteThese sculpts look so killer and that color combo is great!
