  1. Nice, these colors, assuming they are whats coming, are awesome. Looked back at your Skate Wars posts and they totally look like stuff I drew in 7th grade as well. Was always in spired by ninjas, Boba Feat, and motor cross/BMX gear. Other than riding a bike was never into that stuff, but the helmets and padding all looked like future warrior stuff to me. Can't wait to see the goods!

    1. ha, spell check did me wrong, of course I meant Boba Fett!

    2. We definitely dig the same stuff!

It was so great riding bikes, even though I operated a highly ridiculed black Huffy "Thunder Road 42" as a kid. Where the hell were those other kids getting their tricked out Redlines from? It was a mystery only for those of us relegated to owning bikes purchased by single working mothers (though I did really love that Huffy).

Maybe we should make a BMX Ninja themed wave.

    3. Dude, I would have killed for a Huffy. My bike was kinda awesome though in Bicentennial colors. And my skateboard was a banana board I got in a trade. Very unforgiving once the elbows met the asphalt. But man, what fun times going down the "big hill"!

    4. Aw man, one of my friends growing up had that bike, had the sign on the front of it. Another kid cracked his and he went ape! I had a Pro Thunder BMX. I was so misguided, it was 4th grade, my friends were getting Predators, but I was like Huffy is so legit that cereal companies give them away, they gotta be good... and they were the cheapest so my parents didn't give me any options. I rode that goofy black and gold bike for years. Eventually it was stolen, don't know why anyone would steal that...maybe put me outta my misery? Skateboards replaced bikes anyway, I never really rode or owned one again until I was married.

A 80's bike inspired wave would be funny, Huffy especially put out some crazy themed bikes in some cool colors. "Thunder Road" Pheyden in a black/blue/grey and orange colorway would be neat!
C'mon Matt, we need a "Sweet Thunder" Noboto!

    5. My first real bike was a Huffy White Heat in neon green, white, and black. I had that bike through three moves and 1500 miles before someone chopped it up in the middle of the night. Still miss that bike.

This may call for a Huffy color scheme drop. :)

    6. I had that same darn black and gold Huffy and it was the bomb cuz it was my first bike! My grandpa bought 3 of them as Christmas gifts for me, my brother, and my cousin.

  2. Funny that your old sketches from back then turned out to be a glyan body, sarvos head & the crossborg head for the Stryker locke figs.

I love seeing the stuff that comes out of your head on paper. thx for sharing with us.

    1. I'm happy you like the connections!

The core designs you've mention have always been interesting to me, right to this day. Definitely has everything to do with being a kid in the late 70's and early 80's!

It's the best talking with people about the things that have influenced them, particularly in regard to the specific toys they really enjoyed as children.

      What were your big favorites?

    2. Personally as a kid growing up in the mid to late 80's and into the 90's my big toy collections were
      1) Aything w/ Dinosaurs: especially Dino riders!
      2) Anything monster related: Ghost Busters, Monster in my pocket, My Pet Monster, Boglins, Maddballd etc
      3) Anything mutated/anthropomorphic: TMNT, Toxic Crusaders, Bucky O'hair, Thundercats, Food Fighters etc.

  3. Anytime grey and orange pops up I know I am putting a 5th mortgage on my house. Super excited! Any vinyl in the works?

    1. There are a couple different color themes in this wave, with a little extra focus on the "Skate Wars" selection shown above. Variations of gray and orange seem to be meant for each other!

No vinyl in the assortment, but all the PVC accessories (Phase Arm, Axis, Swing and Hub) will be available in the Light Warm Gray for building.

  4. Shall we see an armorvor return?

  5. The colors are awesome, though I can't unsee the skateboard deck on pavement.

Part of me is sad to see that there's no cartoon skull, however. Hah!

    1. We came dangerously close to slapping that old cartoon skull on these guys, but in the end we decided to spare everyone the horrors of my demented drawings from the past.

It was tempting though! We even tested out a "crossbones" version of the design shown above as we hammered things out.

    2. I would love to see some WIP of those test ideas! Especially that crossbones version!

  7. I'm really intrigued to see this drop. I tell people a lot that one reason I love Glyos is how connected it is to it's creators and their imagination. Seeing how much of Skate Wars influenced the Onell universe and how far back the designs go is incredible. I'm glad it's all come full circle.

  8. I will be checking out the drop as always, but I've got to know if there will be any visitors from the Birnkrantverse this go round....!

    1. There will indeed be a visitation, and not as a secret figure (that's reserved for something else).

This particular OSM giant is definitely no petunia!

    2. I was thinking the exact same... thing! Cool!
we'll see in less than 12 hours!

    3. wow - I am all screwed up - I was on the site last night refreshing for 5 minutes before I realized it was only the 3rd, not the 5th.

  9. Do the colors in this drop (specifically the orange, grey, brown) match any previous drops?????

    1. The production hues always have a little variance, but the Skate Wars colors have seen production before (the light and dark warm grays and the light orange). We're fond of gray here in the Northeast!

    2. Exellis colors, then, or the dark warm grey from the stuff last year? (I honestly don't remember if one matched the other.)

      Delete
    3. Exellis was dark warm gray and sand, so maybe not exactly the same combo we've seen before.
Regardless, I love the warm grays. I thought the pic was the Odesskar colors, but now realizing they're the two shades of warm gray I'm preparing for an expensive night.

  10. Any chance we'll see a cross over, maybe a Glyan or Axis joints in the smokey Cosmic Guardian colorway from the last Battle Tribes drop?

    1. No translucent color matches in this round, but that Cosmic Guardian clear smoke does line up very well with some of our older runs in that same hue.

  11. Orange and Gray are the colors I've been rocking in Mass Effect Andromeda... So Sign me up!!!

  12. Please ... I have no idea what "Laser Case" or "Skate Wars" is all about?

Will someone please clue me in??? lol

    1. I think it's all based on story/universe ideas Matt had as a kid.
