    1. Oh, but is this the December drop, just a little early?

    2. Metallic Copper VS Clear "Cranberry"! Both of these new hues took a few rounds to get just right, particularly the clear cranberry.

    3. Copper? I'm guessing not the same color as the Sendollest Gendrones or the Villser Warlord, from the sound of it.

Can't wait to see the new hues!

  3. Cool, any Supercrayboths in the mix any time soon?

    1. No Super Crayboth in this wave, but that meatball is set to return in early 2018.

    2. Awesome, can't wait to get "da meatball", and his little roly-polies . New colors sound great!

  4. Hmmmm... So after the battle with Hades we have the parts of Argen taken to create Cinar, and then whatever was left of Argen. So one regenerates into Argen and the other becomes Argenesis. Guessing our new Argen is a reformatted Cinar, that explains why Argenesis has so many new components. But did he pull himself together or did someone rebuild him?

I like speculating on this stuff!

    1. I like your theories! It's curious that Argenesis only seems to manifest through accessory upgrade configurations at this stage, almost as if the entity is specifically avoiding any original Buildman components...

      Delete
    2. That's a terrifying thought: any accessory-only build could be possessed by Argenesis, like a vengeful spirit or sentient computer virus.

Speaking of, is there any story behind the Phase Sentinel build that uses most of the same structure?

      Delete
    3. Does the true essence of Argen exist within the body, or the core program of his being? Maybe both?

The Phase Sentinels serve as extensions of the Argenesis entity, though not simply as mindless drones, but as gradually individuating sentient vessels, created to share separately acquired knowledge and experiences directly with Argenesis itself.

Phew! That was a mouthful of mecha-mumbles!

    4. Existentialism and the mind-body problem, courtesy of your friends at Onell Design.

So the Sentinels are sort of like Argenesis' offspring more than just a hivemind. Wonder if any have the ability to rebel against their creator...

    5. So, does that basically mean Argenesis can 'transfer' himself from one Sentinel to another? Kinda like Agent Smith could morph into any of the other Agents in the Matrix?

    6. Where's the line between a set of ultra progressive predictive algorithms and actual psychic abilities that allow one to "see the future"? Is fate a program that can somehow be downloaded?

Could a mechanically based lifeform ever evolve enough to actually manifest "supernatural" powers, or would it forever remain bound only to super math?

Playing with a calculator as a kid seemed like magic to me, and at its most basic level of functionality felt like an oracle of numbers that always supplied your question with the perfect, unarguable answer. The idea that a little mechanical device held even more information obtainable only to those with the intellect to conceive the new questions (folks who were not dopes like me) would give me headaches when I tried to wrap my mind around the possibilities.

Argen's arc explores a few of these concepts, particularly the idea of an ever evolving "psychic machine".

See, now I have a headache. Ha!

    7. Also:

-Yes, the Sentinels could potentially evolve beyond Argenesis and rebel, but Argenesis would welcome this.

-If Argenesis is still comparatively the most evolved entity within its loop, it has the power to transfer into a Sentinel and take control. However, it may be possible for a Sentinel to evolve to a point of being able to close the pathways to Argenesis, but since Argenesis is always receiving the collective data of the Sentinels, the chances of Argenesis being overpowered are nearly impossible.

      Nearly.

    8. Interesting thoughts! Also leads to the similar questions about determinism (especially since organisms are, in a way, machines running off of a genetic program) and emergent AI (because at what point does sapience begin, anyway?) in the present day. (Total side note: I forget the publisher, but there's a series of pop culture-meets-philosophy books out now that look to be good reads. Maybe Glyos will make it into one someday?)

To the last point: what would happen if a Sentinel's AI was severed from the loop by an external entity? I could see, say, Viyer making an attempt, Glyaxia most certainly, and possibly the Varteryx if they didn't want their Glyarmor designs to be so corrupted. Also, are the Crayboth powerful enough to influence a mechanized being psychically?

Beyond outside influence, however, maybe all it would take is an AI that could learn how to selectively withhold information, maybe to the point of believing in its own deception. A machine that learns how to lie, if you will...

  5. Metal and light collide... sounds like everything I love about DC Universe these days XD And those of you who've known me since I started collecting all those years ago know how much I've based my customs on DCU characters, especially the Lantern Corps. I think I need a good Argen custom for the shelves now... but who in the DCU could I base him on....?

  7. Always happy to see more glowy bits. I don't suppose you guys have had any progress towards bringing back Solaris, have ya?

    2. Copper Glyans are on deck, as well as a variety of clear cranberry selections (figures and accessories).

    3. Will there be another Mystery figure this round?

      Delete
    4. 100% Mystery figure confirmation, continuing with the same (not so) secret theme of 2017.

Also, prepare for some expanded exploration of said theme, focusing on a "what if" iteration that starts to build upon the original AP homages.

    5. Hmmmm, I had a hunch on that "expanded exploration" after seeing the artwork from the recent Bio-Masters drop!
