So let the flash by flash guessing begin! Skeleden (Yellow & brown. Zombie?), the new teeth tampo on the Quallerran is rather vicious, blue Zombie(?) tampo Noboto, Skeleton-looking Pheyden, and an orange-reddish Glyan. Seems like a fitting line-up for a pre-Halloween drop or I just have the undead on my mind.
Definitely a Halloween/monster theme for this round, with a couple callbacks to previous waves mixed in as well.
It's funny how much our generation particularly loves Halloween. Must have been all those old Ben Cooper costumes bleeding Samhain dye into our brains! I remember so clearly opening those awesome boxes and still dream about my Baron Karza set. It was much cooler than the year I wrapped myself in ace bandages and strips of paper in an attempt to approximate a "Space Mummy" (or maybe I was subconsciously trying to be a Tusken Raider).
Ok, I really want to see a comeback of the Hub Set R2-D2 build in proper colors and a golden C-3PO Glyan to go with him. Ha ha. If we're getting a Kenner '77 mystery theme then I'm all for it. Telescoping lightsabers, please!
Those cheesy plastic Ben Cooper costumes which you wanted so bad until it was raining and cold outside with a heavy coat over it. Man, those bring back some memories. Even Maxx Steele got the treatment at one point with blue/white instead of black/white colors. I think that's why my mother switched to making the costumes for the next few years. I remember well made Care Bears and Shirt Tales costumes sewn together and the younger sibling getting the hand-me-downs. I won Jetfire at a costume contest at Skaggs-Alpha Beta which was the greatest Transformer ever given it was also a Robotech (Macross) veritech fighter.
You're a madman, Aaron! No Rechlen and Aves this time, but I really appreciate that you still dig those two Space Trappers! When they do roll out, hopefully they'll be worth the long wait.
Got him on the after market scene. Just got my only reverse halloboth just last week, my pod is still not complete, need 2 more. Are all the supercrays vinyl?
Maybe you're hallucinating from spending too much time in the desert, Jasen! I'm sure that cantina over there will have something to quench your thirst.
I've been sculpting on multiple projects, but a couple in particular are really in focus now. One is maybe something you'd expect, and the other, maybe not so much.
No soft goods in the Thursday mix (Jesse D is now the reigning soft goods king), though you can expect a full complement of accessories in one specific color.
LSA are still causing trouble out near the Edge of Space.
This wave is a definitely a contained little bundle in many ways. Most of the figures are $12 or under with just a couple that cost a bit more.
Our last 2 assortments of 2018 (October and late November) are designed to be less monstrous in size, but still filled with fun options.
So happy to hear you will be putting out some new vinyl in 2019! I commented before the last release about vinyl (Rig Runner, Armodocs, etc.). Found out about Glyos a little over a year ago via Tjomega’s fantastic series on YouTube and I’ve gotten in on every release since. But, being new I missed out on so much vinyl (and PVC) greatness. Thanks for having an open convo with your fans, Matt! See you Thursday.
Now we just have to determine what colors we would all like to see if we do a more expansive wave. I'm always partial to EMD, but also wouldn't mind some black with gray accents. There were a number of unused vinyl wave ideas as well that we have discussed revisiting.
EMD or Black w Gray would be awesome, honestly I just get excited about new Glyos stuff no matter what the color is. I assume real type would sell better, but I was always crossing my fingers for a Rig or Supercray in the Sunstorm colorway! I picked up the Core Block aftermarket a while back, and the colors are pretty striking. Something like that with a bold primary/secondary color w black accents would be a lot of fun, and it'd provide a matching Rig for my Sunstorm Varteryx pilot.
You said previously a new Cane/Ruger type character will develop over the next few drops and last month featured a lone survivor on a dirtball world for the story. Are there any new hints you can give us yet?
Matt! I saw you talking about our generation and Halloween. I think you may be right about why. I remember Halloween 1985 vividly! My dad coming home with a brown paper bag, he pulls 2 super gross rubber masks out; one each for my brother and I. I still remember how they smmelled inside. Halloween is always my favorite, and dropping the your Halloween wave on my birthday no less! Super cosmic! Can't wait! Hope you're well, my friend. AC
Very psyched to see your Halloween offerings for this year, I think I missed out last year and I know the Halloween themed Super Crayboth eluded my grasp.
Halloween is literally Beth & I's favorite holiday and every year since 2003 I have friends over for our "Halloween Hangout". Saturday will be my 15th Annual Halloween Hangout so it blows my mind we kept it going since I was in my early 20's.
I also think why Halloween is so rooted to us because it's an every man's holiday that anybody anywhere can celebrate.
I always enjoyed dressing up as otherworldly creatures, as a kid I was fascinated with monsters, goblins, ghouls etc. I remember being chased around a family friends house by their eldest son wearing a rubber mask and feeling scared but elated by the rush of trying to get away. So having the chance to embody those thing's that go bump in the night gave me the thrill of being the one to scare others.
Frankenstein's Monster was my favorite as a kid, but my most fond costume was a Werewolf my aunt helped sow for me...even well into college I was still making costumes out of cardboard, even went as far as spray painting card board in my bedroom (for a Robot Demon costume) while living with my dad in a tiny apartment...he came home to toxic fumes permeating the entire apartment, I still remember him shouting " You can smell the fumes down the hall!" LOL!
Ooh, I'm really digging this!! You're going all-out with the Halloween fun this year :D
ReplyDeleteAny hints as to what the new mystery line will entail? I'm excited to find out, no matter what!

Can't wait to see the line-up on Thursday.
Rechlen and aves. Please please please.. I know I always ask for this but they are what I have been waiting for ever!! You guys always rock!!
ReplyDeleteYou're a madman, Aaron! No Rechlen and Aves this time, but I really appreciate that you still dig those two Space Trappers! When they do roll out, hopefully they'll be worth the long wait.
DeleteOooo, there's some interesting decos in those flashes. That one on the Glyan seriously gives me Kamen Rider vibes which is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThat Glyan has a real bone (and wing, and tentacle, and claw) to pick with his wave mates.
DeleteBio-mass-like?
DeleteMore OSM-like.
Deletethat hint is a deep one, isn't it?
DeleteKnock knock... Who's there?... Boo... Boo who?... Boo who if we don't get a Supercrayboth for Halloween!!!
ReplyDeleteSome vinyl is set to return in early 2019. Though we did do a Halloween themed Super Crayboth a few years ago.
DeleteGot him on the after market scene. Just got my only reverse halloboth just last week, my pod is still not complete, need 2 more. Are all the supercrays vinyl?
DeleteAll Super Crayboths are rotocast vinyl.
Deleteseems like a great opportunity for another Birnkrantverse crossover.... didn't I see one teased last month....?
ReplyDeleteYou're intercepting the right signals, Tad!
DeleteAny gobon action this time around? A clear guy with a painted inner head could be suitably gruesome.
ReplyDeleteNo Gendrones in this wave. Though there are certain colors in the assortment that I have a feeling you will specifically dig.
Delete8 different PVC colors in total will be featured (5 of them in accompanying Axis Joint Sets).
More Buildstation items?
DeleteWould one of those 5 colors include Black? Still crossing my fingers on getting a few sets of black swing joints?
DeleteBlack Swing Joint Sets and black Axis Joint Sets will be available before this year is over, 100%, just not in this wave.
DeleteSome new Buildstation items will pop up in January/ February 2019.

ReplyDelete"speaking of star wars..."
Deletethose colors look very light saber-y to me.
Maybe you're hallucinating from spending too much time in the desert, Jasen! I'm sure that cantina over there will have something to quench your thirst.
DeleteWhat, that wretched hive of scum and villainy? Not a chance, last time I drank there a dude lost an arm and another guy got burned to a crisp.
DeleteNo Droids allowed!!!
Deletethe beauty of Glyos is severed limbs snap right back on.
Deletenot sure about the burned to a crisp though.
Well, gonna have to miss this one for obvious reasons. :P But good luck on the drop! I'm sure it'll be awesome!
ReplyDeleteHuge congratulations, Roy! The whole family sends our best!
DeleteWill we be seeing the return of the Villser gang this round? I've got to imagine that there'd be some wicked paint apps for those monsters as well!
ReplyDeleteThe Villser are currently in regeneration mode so they can prepare for what's approaching in 2019.
DeleteOh boy, I'm hoping that means some additional parts to the Villser build system! My wallet will thank you for the delay on that.
DeleteSo it seems we looking at a nice small array of paint heavy figures, any soft goods to add to masquerade?
And while I'm asking, might we get a surprise appearance of any older molds this round, LSA by chance?
DeleteI've been sculpting on multiple projects, but a couple in particular are really in focus now. One is maybe something you'd expect, and the other, maybe not so much.

ReplyDeleteWe'll be starting out slowly, but if the response is good, vinyl production can start to pick up the pace a little and then open up more selections.
DeleteExcellent news, I would love to see a healthy dose of Vinyl in future drops. 2-3 per year would be a dream come true!
DeleteNow we just have to determine what colors we would all like to see if we do a more expansive wave. I'm always partial to EMD, but also wouldn't mind some black with gray accents. There were a number of unused vinyl wave ideas as well that we have discussed revisiting.

DeleteYou said previously a new Cane/Ruger type character will develop over the next few drops and last month featured a lone survivor on a dirtball world for the story. Are there any new hints you can give us yet?
ReplyDeleteThat survivor has a little story to tell, and his name is Halkenn...
DeleteCan't wait to see these tomorrow!
