Eidrallim Scout Pod

So I have officially gone bug crazy. The more I build the deeper the hole gets. So, I don't even know how many Exellis Hyper figures gave their lives for this "Scout Pod" but I'm guessing about 35. The front hatch opens to reveal a clear green Eidrallim pilot. The pod wings can be folded out and swiveled around. Another huge pile of joints so by default the thing moves like crazy but stays nice and tight. Many different configurations can be created if you get bored. Pheyden can fit in it as well and the hatch comes down and hooks in place on the nose of the pod. It feels very solid and really looks like a giant bee fighter in the round. Finalized the standard Eidrallim worker as well. These guys don't have the powerful double arms of the soldier class but can move quick and last longer at work.

Reflex Suit

Following along in the crazy evolution of building new stuff from the Exellis Hyper figures I have arrived at the Reflex Suit. This beast consists of:
27 calves
27 pelvis units
25 chests
30 left upper arms
24 upper thighs (left and right)
The whole suit can move all over the place and stays together tightly. Pheyden fits in the top and locks in with a kind of roller coaster bar over his shoulders. I have been dreaming about making something like this out of these parts for a long time. Seeing the results of the combined figures has me reevaluating some of the direction for the Glyos line. In a good way.

Eidrallim Evolution

These insectoid configurations resemble a species from the Glyos System called the Eidrallim. Upon maturity, these bug type soldiers bathe in an ancient underground lake filled with a metallic liquid that permanently coats their bodies. This process gives them protection from the harsh surface of their home world, the planet Eidrallis. Eidrallis holds a strange connection with the quarantined planet Issaris.

Monkey Fresh Magic

Check out the review on ActionFigureInsider.com posted by Spy Magician and Fresh Monkey. Cool review by one of the best toy customizers we know. Just a footnote, the figures are made of super durable injection molded PVC plastic. Thanks again Jeremy and Bill.

Hyper Crossbreed

Going further along with the whole mash-up project, these bizarre formations continue to get weirder. I'm a huge insect fan, so that influence sneaks in there quite often. I think a bit of Antron from the Micronauts when I look at a few of these cosmic creatures. Still carrying around the Eclipse Pheyden.... I really like the black plastic for some reason. More to come...

Chiller Theatre, Parsippany, New Jersey - October 5th-7th

Our friend (and master of arcane toy knowledge) Roger Harkavy will be at the Chiller Theatre show this weekend in New Jersey with a batch of Glyos System Series figures and Super 7's Ghostland vinyls for sale. Roger will actually have the Reverse Exellis available as an exclusive for this event, marking the first time this version has been available since the San Diego Comic Con (only a few were produced). If you are in the New Jersey area check out the show, and make sure to track Roger down and test his powerful brain with an assault of Japanese toy questions- I have yet to see him struggle for an answer on any subject. I think he may be a robot...no, I know he's a robot. Thanks Roger and good luck at the show!

Callgrim Fan Art

When I saw these drawings pop up in my email I made a bee line over here to get them posted. These are some shots of Callgrim from Gear's Edge as seen through the eyes of artist Christopher Boivin. Chris has a great creative mind and a very steady hand and I know that Jesse and Ciaran will especially like this version of Callgrim. Thanks Chris, this looks awesome- keep them coming!

Capture Suit Exellis

This version of Exellis is the result of another mash up of figures. I used the Standard Version Exellis chest and pelvis and the arms, legs and head of Reverse Exellis to get this look. I wanted to try to bring the flavor of Aves in his grey Capture Suit into the figure. When the whole main body and upper arms and upper legs are the same it gives a different effect that I kind of like. I have been carrying this guy around for a few weeks. By the way, the Reverse Exellis may not be available right now, but that will change later this week...

Crossbreed

Sometimes I forget that the parts of Pheyden and Exellis can be swapped. This strange looking amalgamation is the mash up of a bunch of black prototypes I had made earlier this year. The other guy is Eclipse Version Pheyden, and he is the mash up of a Reverse Exellis chest and pelvis, a Standard Exellis set of upper arms and upper legs and the head, feet, and hands of the super rare Black Pheyden(only 10 produced). His eyes are painted in a special way that make him look tougher and more sinister. Maybe he's Pheyden's angry older cousin -we all have one after all.

The Labor Machine

Here is Megan getting the work done. I had to make her a special Pheyden so she wouldn't kill me for asking her to help me again. Those left-handed types can be dangerous.

Quality Controlled

All the figures that get sent out, whether wholesale or direct, get put through their paces to make sure that no garbage gets in the mix. Sometimes the paint from the factory is a little bit "loose" and things need to be refined or just cleaned. I would like to thank my sister Megan who has stayed up into the wee hours cleaning piles of toys with me on many nights. Megan, you are a machine!

'Living a Toy Story'

The local newspaper in Acton MA, the Beacon, recently did an article on Onell. We, meaning Matt, Michelle, Cady, Jesse & myself (Marc), are very grateful, and Matt is very flattered. I think he was slightly hesitant about mentioning it here, as he had only read the hard copy- until now of course... If only they had included the photo of the Beard Lord's mug sittin' up there in the Toy Tower ...priceless. Anyway, more posts to come.

Gamma Goes Glyos

The Beans from Beantown Toys have been a major project for the last year. Working with my partner in crime on Bean character design and illustration at Beantown Toys, Marc Beaudette, we have created well over 90 characters. The process that we go through to bring a Bean to life consists of a conceptual drawing (me) that is rendered with Illustrator into a finished piece (Marc). Sometimes we wonder what these little guys would look like if they ended up in the Glyos System. Well, here is what the Space Bean Gamma may look like if he crossed over.

Special thanks to Jesse for helping design Gamma.

Pheyden appears on Toy Break ep. 12

Big thanks to the crew at Toy Break for the kind words about our little figures. Make sure you catch the whole program- some very insightful commentary, made by some thoughtful and funny toy fans.

Callgrim

A sneak peek at the sculpt for Callgrim from Gear's Edge. The core design of Callgrim was done by artist Jesse Moore and his 9 year old son Ciaran. Ciaran was actually only 5 when he first sketched him. Imagine what he will do as he gets older... The figure was hand cast in urethane and painted with Tamiya colors by dry brush technique then wiped. The cape is from old dirty socks. Really.

Aulder Infestation

The Aulders are capable of slipping through different dimensions in search of their life energy source, known as "Space Rain". This Space Rain may give life to the Aulders but it is deadly to almost every other creature in the Glyos System. These 2" figures were hand cast in urethane and painted with automotive gloss. The background is scratch built from plaster and crushed paper.

Capture Suit Shuffle

To deal with the challenges that each trapping job presents, Rechlen and Aves use a variety of "Capture Suits". These specialized outfits can customize to their surroundings and include an automatic response system that protects the user from harsh conditions.
