The Rig
The first production Rigs have landed... along with some extremely hostile Armodocs! The feel and functionality of this new addition to the ranks are solid and tight. A standard Glyos figure fits right inside once you take it apart at the waist. My favorite Hades is actually inside the Rig in the above pics. It's simple, but pretty fun to play with. How you look at it determines what form it takes, the transformations are all about perspective and what you feel like tinkering with. It can be a walking mech, an armored spaceship, a battlesuit or even a ground tank. Messing around with it reminds me of when I'd spend time with a Rubik's Cube, the shifting of shapes all contained within a simple structure and suddenly (or after many mind crushing hours) a collection of colors would come together. It's also fun to combine with the Armodocs, especially the new ones that are right around the corner (GITD Red and another highly requested color). We'll have a small batch to check out at SDCC, with the full release available in the late August big drop.

You know, this might come as unexpected, but this thing is ridiculously cute. For some reason, I expect the first configuration to have Wall-E-like vocalizations, and maybe the third to have "grumpier" sounding blips and beeps.
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note: arms and waist, but are the legs on a swivel joint, too, or inert?
The Rig is beautiful and the Red GITD Armodoc is great news. I hope the Requested color Armodoc is a Mk III Powered Armodoc (still need to get one)
ReplyDeleteI hope enough of the Rig/ Red GITD are produced so it'll be available long enough for those who want them.
They look fantastic, Matt--just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteholy shit, that looks amazing..... matt i love how you're bringing all these new, different types of aesthetics into it, it brings everything to the next level every time out.
ReplyDeleteThe rig looks rockin' painted up with panel lines and all. We've got to get a clear one down the road so we can see the driver.
ReplyDeleteIs the highly requested Armodoc color new or rerelease? I could really stand to see some more Standard and Reverse coming. While I'm thinking about it, is there any chance of upping the production numbers of the Armodoc like you did the Gobon? I know the Gobons are still in the store but the Armodocs sell to the vinyl crowd and seem to sell out super fast (especially the GITD and clear).
GAH! so beautiful... I love this thing so much... so simple and complex in one toy...
ReplyDeleteI might like it more than the armodocs.. is that blasphemy? seriously though... the organic mech nature of it, the multi-sided-ness of it.
sadly I won't be at comic-con.. but I'm sure there will be more
Does this thing come apart and can its pieces attach to the standard figs at all?
ReplyDeleteHey Matt, how much will The Rigs at the SDCC cost? Just curious because much like last year, one of my friends will be there and is willing to pick stuff up for me again. A price estimate would be very nice sir. : D
