Hades has put together a special team to take on the Armorvors. Above is a look at a scarf wearing Buildman named Jorvannic and a beefed up Gobon with a name that may be familiar to a few of you, that moniker being Cerberus. The build on the Cerberus is a contained build using one Gobon, two Phase Arms, two Gobon Blasters and one Hub Set. I still love trying to push those contained builds.

This a pretty straight forward release, with maybe one or two small possible surprises when everything goes live next week. Even though it's a simple round, the color combination of the black plastic, the aqua green accents and the white tampos really pop. I particularly like the Hi Phaseon and Axis Buildman (with scarf!) in this color combination.
It's scarf mania over here.
More pics later today!
UPDATE: I tweaked the colors in the photos a bit to enhance the green a bit more. The accent color is another one of those chameleon hues that's tricky to photograph.
The new stuff looks amazing! I wonder if my landlord will mind if the rent's a little late this month...
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay! Don't get evicted! Ha!
Deletei love this colors!!!!! i cannot wait for the clears!!! beaaauuuttiiifffullll that aqua is gorgeous on that black. thank you!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Eric! I imagine some intense dye baths are being planned for the clear Armorvors. I'm looking forward to seeing the customs after this stuff lands.
DeleteWow, that blue really pops on the black! Will there be a DSG this round, or just a small run of painted Hubs?
ReplyDeleteThanks Roy, and congratulations on your recent custom drop, all the stuff looked on point!
DeleteThe DSG is a possibility, just squaring a couple things up before the 5th, but they may sneak in the mix...
The blue tint pops a bit more that the greenish hue in the pics, but I have updated them with some tweaks to the color. The accents are actually PMS 3375 C, but look a little blue under certain lighting.
In hand the colors do pop!
is impossible...every time better than the previus.....
ReplyDeleteThanks Kal! I hope you like what is on deck for November as well. You'll get to meet a special Council of Travelers...
DeleteWill there be GiTD scarves too?
ReplyDeleteThere will be GITD scarves, but not necessarily in the store.
DeleteI've gotta say Matt, even though you consider this drop low-key, for me, this has got to be the most enticingly beautiful drop EVER. The high contrast colors, new pieces, variety with the spectre and sleath parts. I really think you've outdone yourself this time and I know this will be my biggest order ever.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you dig this round! You and I seem to share an affinity for black armored aliens. I'm psyched to see you photograph some of these new guys.
DeleteA straightforward release and I thought it would be straightforward budget for me.... then you throw in glow pieces. And then a clear Armovor! Acck! I say again: acck!
ReplyDeleteWe have something cooking for NYCC that may trump everything else we have released this year, in terms of the Cappyverse.
DeleteO_O....And I thought I was looking forward to NYCC a lot already this year, I do so love surprises. I still have vivid memories of NYCC 2010 when the 1st Axis joints came out & how they literally blew my mind. To this day, they're still one of my favorite PVC things you guys make.
DeleteWill the hubsets be painted this time around or will there be another specially painted DSG? I only ask because of the shoulders to the phaseon build! Or is the DSG one of the surprises that I may be ruining by asking this question :X
ReplyDeleteAnd these are AMAZING looking! It's almost too bad that this is a smaller drop.. and I say almost, because I would have had to declare bankruptcy after a larger one with these colors!
Can't wait :)
Thanks Rez! Painted Hub Sets have been produced, how they appear will be revealed on the 5th!
DeleteOut of curiosity, what would you prefer to see?
Holy smokes!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks incredible!
Great colors, sir.
Thanks Ben! The simpler approach seems to work out the best on general when it comes to the black PVC. I really prefer it without the detail lines these days.
DeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this colors combination! It reminds me about the new movie of TRON, and the camo Armovors? Gorgeous! :D
Nice! I loved Tron Legacy, especially the color choices. I think I've watched it about 20 times now. I'm happy you like the new stuff!
DeleteThank you!
WOWZERS! O_O That's a really nice color contrast and I'm really digging the scarf on that Buildman- it really adds alot to the look. Aside from parts I need to get for building NYCC exclusives, I will be getting more Armovors for sure. Awesome stuff as per usual. :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! I've wanted to put that scarf on a Buildman for years, but it never would work just right with the urethane versions. This new PVC scarf adds that little edge, especially on a Buildman. When you start flipping the scarf around and upside down you will get a kick out of what starts to take shape. It can convert a Buildman head into a futuristic looking knight when upside down. You'll come up with some great uses I'm sure!
DeleteAwesome! I love futuristic knights & stuff. There's just something sooo cool about merging genres together like that. Ahh I love this toy line. ^__^
DeleteGorgeous color combination!
ReplyDeleteThanks Seth! The accent color is one of my all time favorite hues, PMS 3375C!
DeleteWow, Matt, the blue really pops on the black! Can't wait to try the new scarf on a Govurom! I was thinking i would be getting just a figure or two, but now it looks like it'll be a slightly bigger order. Still pretty small for me, but I can't pass up Stealth Armorvors for dyeing, regardless of what my budget should be. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Connor! Using the GITD Hub Sets to build with has been surprisingly fun. There are still so many colors to run that little pile of parts in.
DeleteWhat color will you dye your Armorvors?
I'm going with green fading to brown on the hands and feet, to continue my Garden theme, like he's been working in the dirt, and maybe a Glyaxia (of course), or a blue with a fade to darker blue on hands, feet and head. But that might all change when I start, I often get hit with inspiration for something else entirely at the last minute.
DeleteAnd of course, you know I'd love to see a Hub in yellow with blue paint to make a Glyaxia DSG. Or everything Stealth to dye-up my own. :)
That Gobon gun is fantastic! Actually the entire Gobon build is great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete! That Gobon is in the Renegade vein, designed as if they had access to the Hub Sets.
DeleteSo the new GITD crays don't have aqua painted eyes?
ReplyDeleteNo paint on these GITD Crays, just straight glow PVC. Eventually there will be a painted version.
DeleteFollow up thoughts:
ReplyDeleteI second Seth's question -- not even painted eyes on the Spectre Cray'?
Any panel lines painted on these black figures?
The beefed-up Gobon build is sweet, although I'm included to turn those Gobon spheres around.
You describe the accent paint as "aqua green", but it looks quite blue in the pictures. And quite gorgeous.
Paint free Spectre Crays!
DeleteNo panel lines on the black PVC.
I like the reverse Gobon Blaster look for some reason, maybe because we could never really do it before.
The original photos have been tweaked a little to hopefully better reflect the true colors, but this hue can float either way on the spectrum depending on the light source. Sometimes it looks pretty blue, and then it can look totally aqua (which is most of the time).
Thanks Cappy!
May the toy gods smile upon me so I can nab just one stealth and one Hades Armorvor!!! AND I gotta get that scarf, it's all the rage this fall. :)
ReplyDeleteYou will definitely get a scarf, even if you don't pick up a Hades. We have to keep your Glyans fashionable!
DeleteThanks Nate!
Wow. This is gonna add up fast. So when is Matt going to add a "One of everything new, please" bundle option to the cart? :) That'd make things easier!
ReplyDeleteHa! A few years ago Marcus and I almost put something in the store called "The Button". It would have done exactly what you are mentioning here. You would have also gotten a special t shirt that just had "I pressed The Button" printed in 8 bit font on the front of it. Logistics squashed the idea.
DeleteMaybe one day...
That would be a useful button
DeleteLoL that's an awesome idea, but I could see how a hundred people could push the button and the store inventory would just go *ka-blooey*.
DeleteI can't think of a better way to put Matt's kids through college, and/or get me a swell new t-shirt.
DeletePlease add the button. I repeat, please add the button.
DeleteProduction scarf!!! Good lord.
ReplyDeleteGlad you dig it Jesse!
DeleteGuhh, why am I always flat broke when the best drops happen?
ReplyDeleteI think things will hang around for a bit!
DeleteWell maybe everything but the Armorvors!
Oh wow. The accent color here really pops against the black. Hades being my favorite of the Travelers, I'll be excited to add this new version to stand alongside the Axis Armored Hades I've already got.
ReplyDeleteI'm also super excited to see the black Armorvor. I love these figures, don't get me wrong, but I had never really bought a figure for the figure itself. Only for build possibilities. The Armorvor changed that. Its the first figure I want just to keep as is.
That being said, I'll definitely be buying enough stuff to whip up a few builds. This shade of black is looking particularly nice. Excited to see how I can get my hands on some of those painted Hub Sets! I'm hoping its not a surprise DSG, that'd make my plans go a bit awry.
Looks to be a fun drop as always. It'll be nice to actually participate in one on the levels I used to.
I'm really interested in what you come up with after messing with the matching parts.
DeleteI feel similarly about the Armorvor, as it was designed first and foremost as a stand alone figure. Part of the coolness of Jason sculpting the piece is that he brought his classical approach to the core design, meaning that that he was not thinking as much about whether the pelvis could double as a fist or face. Jason mainly wanted the figure to be visually striking, which I think he nailed!
The Armorvor leans more towards the OSM, which emphasize looks a little more than pure building potential (although Gemini is loaded with crazy parts). I love having all the options to play around with, from each different line. Wait until you see the new Spy Monkey stuff coming out at the end of this month. You will LOVE what those brilliant mofos are bringing to the party. Tons of all new parts that will shake things up!
Matt (or any fellow here), can you confirm that 9:30 PM EDT is the same than 9:30 PM EST? Thank you by advance!
ReplyDeleteIt's the same. EDT is Eastern Daylight Time, which switches to EST after daylight saving cycles through and we roll into the winter. This time classification is mainly observed during the summer on the East Coast.
DeleteYou had me at Aqua on Black.
ReplyDeleteYou've gone a long way to ensure that this new customer stays on the hook for a while. You just seem to be getting better with each drop.
I have to ask though, how long does the Cpre Stuff normally remain available during a drop? You've got me right in the middle of class and I hope to get at least a Hades and a few other things.
Thanks Steve! The majority of the new items should still be in the store by the time you get back from class, with the exception of the Armorvors and possibly Hades, which if previous patterns repeat themselves will sell at a decent clip (I hope!).
DeleteMatt! You are a MACHINE! I love this new stuff alot. The Black and Teal is a real Boss colorway combo. I am definitely going to grab some up. Those Stealth Armorvors Kick so much butt, and the production scarves. Those Scarves are a really nice touch;)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you like this combination! It kind of reminds me a little of Scourge from the Transformers, which was always a neat color match up.
DeleteOh yeah I am not going to miss out on that Hades Pheyden! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteHey Matt, for some reason I can't directly add on reply to my comment from before BUT:
ReplyDeleteAs long as painted hub sets come out in some form I'll be happy! They're all going to the same place after all :)
That being said some of my favorite releases have been the ones that incorporate contained builds into the release! So a DSG, or a new configuration including painted Hubset and -other thing- would always be welcomed by me! Things like Axis Armored glyans, Axis Buildmen, and the DSGs are among the greatest releases ever- and also allow people that maybe wouldn't take the chance on the "upgrades" to see what they're all about :)
Of course I know you also are a fan of everything for as cheap as possible, so it might be good to mix in drops where they are sold seperately so builders can amass them without having a ton of extra glyan parts they might not want.
Point is, the variety is great and you are always switching it up so just keep it coming!
Thanks for the feedback Rez, it's always greatly appreciated to read what's on your mind.
DeleteThose little painted Hub Sets will definitely make it out on drop night, one way or another!
Will Jorvannic be beefed up as shown in the picture or just a regular buildman? same question for Cerberus Gobon.
ReplyDeletealso. will the clear armorvors come with a wolfhead?
Jorvannic and Cerberus will be offered in their basic forms, so to beef them up you would have to pick up Axis Joints, Hub Sets and Phase Arm Sets to replicate their builds (which are fairly easy to assemble).
DeleteThey are both "contained" builds, which use all the parts from specific sets:
Jorvannic- 1 Buildman and 1 Axis Joint Set
Cerberus- 1 Gobon, 2 Phase Arm/Gobon Blaster Sets and 1 Hub Set
Selling the components has worked out the best over the years because it allows more options for creating your own custom builds.
Hope this makes sense!
Will there be a 3 figure limit on each of the armorvors again? if so i am going to have to make some tough choices on which of my godbeast heads to give bodies to! one of the better dilemmas i have been faced with, i cant complain ;)
ReplyDeletewill klace have the sarvos chest with a groove in the middle? is that why the hades extra set has a standard pheyden chest instead of a sarvos chest?
ReplyDeletethank you
