Mission Details

This list was a bit of a roller coaster to put together, as I received everything later than planned (I always check the goods in hand before completing and publishing the official release specifics). My sincere apologies for the late posting of the final details.

It's hard to believe that it was four years ago that we first met the original Rig Crew, introduced in one of our longest Passcodes, Soul of the Traveler. I remember working around the clock with Marcus and Rich "Disasterpeace" Vreeland, as we collectively went a little more bananas with each passing day. The end result was an absolute and complete collaboration, and I'm still very thankful for how far Marcus and Rich pushed the limits to make something that I still believe holds up after a pretty good amount of time. That project will forever be one of my favorites, and the outcome of our triple attack produced something that transported the three of us into a very satisfying and creative dimension.

A couple notes about this new assortment:

-The painted accents on Gearius and Klace feature the first decorated Dark Traveler chest piece (they should know better than to mess around with that armor).

-There are four PVC colors mixed between the Travelers, consisting of Brown, Dark Brown, Black and Sand (the old Gear's Edge hue).

-The Armorvor wolf head officially makes its exit after this round.

-The Glyans once again are configured in the "Hunter" build, utilizing the Dark Traveler outer scarf and belt to beef things up.

We are still on track for this Sunday, September 7th at 9:30PM EST!

Marcus and I have been wanting to run a new version of Gearius for a bit, and this year lined up to be the right one to bring the old Traveler back, along with Klace in some Real Type hues. Speaking of hues, the subtle combinations of browns and grays in this wave took a number of attempts to get just right, and definitely ranked high up there in the challenge department. We hope you like how everything turned out!

Thanks for reading this word whirlwind!

  1. I was wondering what those pheyden were doing wearing the DT armor! Now I am a little worried about them.
This looks to be a great drop, though. Are the crayboth, with their new super-siblings, taking a more active role in the events of the galaxy?

    1. Ummm... I'm not seeing the brown/brown Pheyden listed in the mission details, nor the parts to build him?

    2. Hey Cappy! The double brown Pheyden can be assembled from the alternate parts that come with Tracker Durleryn Sarvos, by swapping the head, chest and pelvis.

There are two of those Pheydens in the pics shown above, assisting Tracker Durleryn with his Axis powered upgrades.

All this Axis Tech experimenting seems to have summoned a Villser hunting Crayboth Pod...

  4. Hmmmm... which brown matches the original Rig Crew colors better, the brown on Gearius Mk-II or the dark brown on Durelryn?

    1. The regular brown that is throughout the majority of the figures matches the old brown the best. It is kind of neat to pop Gearius into his original Traveler form by using the darker brown Pheyden parts that come with Tracker Durleryn in combination with the black parts from the new Gearius.

If you want to make your special Axis upgraded Traveler, you should be good with these new brown Axis Joints and maybe a paint pen to add the lines that you like.

  5. Yep! This drop IS epic!! Thanks for bringing back this team for us newbies to get easily. Quick question Matt. How many axis joint sets ate needed to build up the character like in the Wingwalker entries? And how many are needed to build that Rhytemitter backpack for the Rig Crew? Thanks!

    1. Thanks Dan! The Wingwalker/Rhythemitter are one in the same, just reconfigured. You need four Axis Joint Sets to make it, and it is contained when accompanied by the Axis upgraded Traveler.

  6. Lookin' good! Quick question: are the hands and lower legs on Durleryn dark brown, and the upper limbs are light brown?

Also: those Crays. Wow, can we ever hope to see an accessory set wave in those colors?

    1. Hey Roy! The hands and lower legs on Durleryn are indeed dark brown, and the upper arms and thighs are the regular brown. It's subtle, but a little more pronounced in hand. Klace's upper arms and thighs are also the dark brown.

  8. The 'soft grey' Rig looks great, and the Crayboth are stunning, but that Sarvos! He'll fit right in with my existing Rig Crew.
4 Years!? Hard to believe indeed. Great revisit to the Rig Crew!
