The test shot shown above of the Four Horsemen's Elite Power Soldier has extremely solid joints and a super satisfying feel in hand. All the parts hold together, even under intense play and repeated movement. These figures can truly survive the pocket.
My favorite aspects of the new Power Lords are being able to still build and modify the core figures, even though they don't show any really obvious signs (outside of the back hole) of using our interface. The primary engineering goal of this endeavor was to not compromise the traditional "action figure" look of the characters, yet retain the interchangeability we've used for years. We wanted to create another option that could be applied to new projects across the boards, when the abstract approach might not be the right fit.
The Four Horsemen have some excellent things in store with the Power Lords that I think you guys will really love. Soon you'll be able to put together teams of Power Soldiers, to battle or befriend anything living on your shelves or hiding in your storage bins.
Also, that Ivorinium DSG up there is from our next release, which will be in early September. More details and pics coming this week!
I love the juxtaposition between the hyper-detailed Power Lords figures and the more stylized Glyos guys.
ReplyDeleteI am now painfully curious to see how Outer Space Men parts mix with Power Lords parts.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Glyos parts could easily be used for "cybernetic upgrades" for the Power Lords. Giant claw hands abound!
ReplyDeleteAnd more Ivorinium? Most excellent!
That's exactly what I was thinking! Bionic/cybernetic add-ons! They look like they were totally meant to be! Now my eagerness for Power Lords has increased dramatically!
DeleteI've done some playing around like this with the test shot I own...the Crayboth arms look great attached at the elbow...! :)
ReplyDeleteMan, that's a cool pic.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete! The Power Soldiers photograph really well.
DeleteI was inspired by this post. I had to try it out myself.

Does the Elite Power Soldier have a new neck piece?
Great upgrade! Reminds me of Nirasawa's designs!
DeleteThe neck is the same on the Elite Power Soldier, Standard Power Soldier and Adam Power. The Glyos fit function is at the bottom of the neck, and the top is a ball joint. Lord Power does not have a separate neck joint, so the look would not be compromised by a break point.
The prototypes that were sold around SDCC are quite special, as we had to alter a few of the peg sizes on the final production designs.
The elbows and ankles are now the micro Glyos diameter peg size, and the holes on the bottoms of the feet are also sporting the micro sized female fits. These changes were made to make the connections stronger and take stress off the wall stock in the thinner areas. We also strengthened every other standard connection point throughout all the figures.
If you did manage to grab one of those prototypes, you are in possession of something very unique and extremely rare.
With the new changes, these Power Soldiers are super durable and ready for action.
So much for my Crayboth forearm trick. :)
DeleteOh well, I was actually wondering about the wall thickness being a possible issue about some of the areas when I was handling mine. You could see they were pretty super-thin in places where the opaque ABS was nearly translucent in the light, particularly on the feet. That's reassuring to hear these areas have been fixed, even if it is at the expense of a few standard Glyos joints.
*picks jaw up off the floor* Zshaksss Auhghmazzzink!
ReplyDeleteThat upcoming DSG looks great.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get a few PL figures.
Do the Glyos heads fit on the Power Lord bodies?
Thanks!
DeleteI've been able to squeeze production Pheyden, Phanost, Sarvos, Scar Pheyden, Neo Sincroid and LSA heads on there.
The area is tight, but there's just enough room for a number of our noggins.
Um, did you just say production LSA head?
DeleteI caught that too.
DeleteHa! Nothing sneaks by you guys!
DeleteProduction LSA are now real (I'm looking at a test shot right now).
We're working on multiple surprises for the September release. As of now, we're planning for September 8th. Multiple colors beyond the Ivorinium are on tap.
Great scott, Matt. Just don't keep us in the dark for too long. Suspense is a dangerous thing!
DeleteThat will be an AMAZING 30th birthday present for me! More Glyos!
DeleteWOOT!! LSA!!! Now finally my Exellis figure will have his army! They did indeed seem lost for all these years, I am glad they were finally found. :-D
DeleteAnd to think they were under the seat cushions of Matt's couch this whole time. Of all the places in the universe...
DeleteI really need to get an Armorvor when this new release comes out. I keep missing them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Sept 8th is two days after my birthday.
DeleteSo, I know what my birthday present to myself is going to be.
