The Quallerran

Across vast and forgotten galaxies, the multidimensional beings known as Quallerran have explored the mysteries of the cosmos for untold generations. Located on the ancient world "between space" called Quallerra, their origins can be traced back to a time even before the birth of the Glyos System.

In an effort to optimally evolve their species by combining powerful alien lifeforms with their own metamorphic biology, the Quallerran sent numerous special research expeditions into the great unknown to discover such specimens. Those selected for these inherently dangerous missions accepted that they would most likely never return home.

However, the sacrifices of the brave were not in vain, as psychically charged beacons capable of telepathically transmitting critical data through time and space were developed and encoded within every Quallerran Explorer. When activated, these "Syncrobine Links" allowed for unlimited information to be relayed directly back to Quallerra, as well as a detailed record of the sender's experiences, thoughts and emotions.

It was one of these lost expeditions to a volatile young galaxy that eventually brought the Quallerran directly to the Glyos System ...

Vipers in Boston

Quick update from MADD HQ:

Flying Vipers play show #2 this Friday in Boston. We're supporting Big D and the Kids Table as they play through their album Strictly Rude, 10 years after it's debut. Going back another 10 years, I was a high schooler rocking out to the very first Big D album, Shot by Lammi. Nowadays we're friends and even share band members... Boston is tight like that.

Portsmouth zine The Sound also just posted an article and interview on our latest, The Copper Tape. That's it below, featuring a tiny scribble I made that Matt turned into a glorious scribble.

Lots more happening in the coming months, including a couple new vinyl releases... stay tuned.

Battle Tribes: Wave 5

We're a little late, but Spy Monkey Creations has some brand new savagery currently available over in their store, just in time to do battle with the latest East Coast snowstorms that have been wreaking havoc around these parts!

The Steel Warrior Cyclops Battle Tribes figure shown above looks particularly fearsome when trudging through the snow and ice covering our backyard. SMC's Jeremy has always been a massive Cyclops fan, and this specific head has some pretty deep connections for him. I remember way back when we first met, Jeremy had some great Cyclops themed custom figures floating around in his backpack, so seeing the legacy of those early days manifest in the BT Cyclops is especially awesome.

Sometimes I think it's easy for folks to forget just how personal these toy lines really are.

The Bitkeeper

While mapping the various otherworldly planes that the last remaining Dimension Gates still had access to, Gatekeeper Viyer discovered a world unlike anything ever recorded before, even within the esoteric Gatekeeper Codex.

Upon crossing into this odd place, Viyer and his companion, Gatekeeper Varriun,  found their appearances drastically altered. Within an instant, every curve became angled and hyper defined, their very beings totally compressed and reformatted into geometric patterns. They had become captured "bits" of information, completely stored within cube-like forms.

After a prolonged exploration into this incredible "Bit World", it was decided that Gatekeeper Varriun would remain to collect more information, while Viyer would return back home to document what, and whom, they had uncovered on their expedition.

Varriun remains to this day, a Bitkeeper beyond the Gate.

New release coming to the Culture Pirates shop this Saturday, February 4th at 9pm ET!

Outpost Odesskar

With bold yet tempered authority, Commander Nillin sternly oversees the rigorous operation of Outpost Odesskar.

Assigned to monitor and secure all activity within the dimension bending Vector Triangle, the majority of Outpost Odesskar's personnel are selected specifically for their rare ability to function normally within the Vector Triangle itself.

Those not possessing this special immunity inevitably begin experiencing strange hallucinations when they enter the Vector, haunted by the overwhelming feeling that they are slowly being pulled into an alternate reality beyond all comprehension.

This so-called "Vector Effect" seems to have no noticeable influence over either Travelers or Sincroids.

Galaxxor: 002

The notorious Vinyl Pirate of the Windy City, Ben Spencer, reopens the cosmic spaceways to the Lazarus Sector with a brand new edition of Galaxxor, available right now over in the Galaxxor Online Store.

The color combination on this figure came out looking extra sharp, and truly delivers a great realization of Ben's unique eye for color. My personal favorite to date (and CC's as well)!

Thank You!!!

2017 really hit the ground running thanks to all of you! Between the positive turnout and smooth operation of the new Shopify store, the night of the release had a balanced rhythm that was very welcome, especially after all the twists that surfaced over the last year. Packages started hitting the post yesterday and all the orders should be completely out the door by tomorrow afternoon.

We are very thankful for an energizing start to the year. Our gratitude to each one of you is real, and it echoes throughout every choice we make with this project called Glyos. A project that is inextricably linked to our everyday lives over here. We're clear eyed and absolutely present in the understanding that your shared interest keeps this weathered (but not detail lined) mothership going.

Personally speaking, I know that the unorthodox methods we sometimes put into effect don't always resonate across the collective, but without subtle shifts in the order of things, we would never have survived an extremely challenging -and ever changing- collector's market for nearly a decade.

Each year of production represents a chapter in the evolution of what we've all worked on together, and the current year will be no exception. My hope is that over time, when we look back at the entirety of the line, we'll see something that continues to ignite that creative spark within each of us.

Heartfelt and genuine thanks goes out from the whole Onell family. We're super excited to share in this 10th anniversary year with you!

A Little Bump

We are nudging the launch to 10PM EST, so we can finalize a few things with the new store.

Thank you for your patience!

Glyan Tracker Commando

Specially trained in the the esoteric discipline of Dimensional Relativity and biologically augmented to operate at a Traveler's pace, the Glyans selected for duty within the Tracker Unit are some of the rarest soldiers in all of Glyaxia Command.

Though they represent the very best of the Glyan Forces, Tracker is secretly wary of his new partners, harboring suspicion about their true mission objectives.

Neo Tracker Unit

Tasked by Glyaxia Command with the investigation of a mysterious disturbance near Outpost Odesskar, Tracker journeys with two specialized Glyan Commandos to the remote destination, located just inside the classified "Vector Triangle"...

Flying Vipers - The Copper Tape

New sounds from the Flying Vipers! Instrumental dub in the classic Jamaican style, produced using the latest in cassette recording technology.

The artwork was once again delivered by Dark Santa, aka the Beard Lord or simply, Matt. Thanks Brojack!

This follows up last year's tape, with a heavier focus on drum & bass. And lots more trippy, drippy effects.

And more cowbell.

Bonus: One of these tunes is ripped from an old Sega game circa '92. The box art featured a painting by Clyde Caldwell... first to name that cartridge wins a free download!

Enjoy!

12.27.2016

Happy Holidays!

Wishing you the best from the whole Onell clan!

I also wanted to send a special thank you out to Cady for the awesome figures shown above (Space Ninja and "Nona")! You even captured my receding hairline and eternal shorts, Bubba!

Kabuto Mushi MK II: Wave 18

Marty "Krunk" Hansen completes his 2016 KM program with a compact Wave 18! This round features not only Kabuto Mushi, but also a crossover pair of Pat Bussey's brand new Bio-Mass Monsters, all produced in matching neon "builder" color selections that must be seen in hand to fully appreciate (they were a bear to photograph due to the almost otherworldly brightness of the PVC). Each figure also comes with a matching set of Axis Joints to further mutate these monsters into whatever form your diabolical mind desires. You can find Marty's latest color spectrum defying assortment over in his shop!

Awesome work, Marty and Pat! These have been a real blast to reconfigure and mess around with.

Thank You!!!

Thank you for an excellent final release of 2016! We'd been working away on the new store interface for months and seeing everything finally come together without any major implosions felt like an alternate reality. No inventory crashes, no wonked out loading times, no mysterious double charges and no store closures in the middle of the release! Marcus and Shopify, we salute you! All of us over here deeply appreciate the solid feedback that was sent throughout the launch, your reports really helped us stay on top of things. We've been invoicing and packing all weekend and the first packages will be hitting the post throughout today and tomorrow.

2016 was a year full of change, on many different levels, but manufacturing these little guys continues to be done with true passion and the same attention to detail as when we started, after almost a decade in the toy trenches. A lot of concentration was focused on pushing the paint and individual figure design this year, as opposed to larger builder waves from 2015 and before. It's been exciting to explore not only our "Standard' style color combinations, but also some dedicated homage waves -particularly over the last few months (TMNG, Capture Run). 2017 will see even more full production experiments and crossovers, as well as some further expansion to our nebulous narrative (I'm looking at you Quallerran).

Marcus, Michelle and I have been discussing and reminiscing about the lifespan of Glyos more than usual these days, due to the 10 year mark steadily approaching. We've seen a lot of twists and turns, but there is still a fire burning in the furnace and some interesting new things in store for 2017.

Thank you for sticking with us and continuing to inspire our creativity, through all 60 waves!

Glyninja Runmaru

Another video game love that we couldn't resist paying homage to in PVC form, the color selections for Glyninja Runmaru shown above may resonate with some of you button mashing NES fans out there.

More pics of Wave 60 will be popping up throughout the day, featuring a mix of 80's tributes as well as some new (and old) original color combinations. We had a lot of fun working on this assortment!

A Winter Welcome

Lining right up with our first snow of the winter, Wave 60 is on track for this Thursday, December 8th, at 9:30PM EST.

As 2016 comes to a close, we will be traveling through a new doorway together, with the unveiling of our fully redesigned mobile friendly store (now live), courtesy of Bit Master Marcus and Shopify. It's been a long time in the making (like most things around these parts), but we are finally ready to explore some new territory and hopefully welcome an easier and less unpredictable release night experience for all of us. Marcus has outlined some important details below that should really assist in making the transition easier. -Matt

Finally! Before heading in, a few words on the new digs:

One of the big improvements with this platform is the responsiveness, and the ability to auto-format for all devices and screen sizes. When we started diving deep into Google Analytics about 5 years ago, we were surprised to see nearly 20% of people ordering from mobile devices. Fast-forward to the most recent launch and the number of mobile users has doubled. The last Bit Figs wave received 49% of orders from phones!

Another new feature is user accounts. We highly recommend everyone take a few seconds to create an Onell.Store account. This will make checkout super fast, and is a neat way to keep track of your activity. You can still checkout using PayPal, too. While we've had our troubles with them, the fact is they've helped us process every single order since day one, and as a Payment Gateway, they are quite reliable. Now that we have shopping cart specialists on our side, we're feeling confident to continue working together with PayPal.

We hope you'll have a chance to familiarize yourselves with the new system prior to the launch. Click an item to see important info such as order limit, parts count and full product details. Once added to your cart, a "Continue Shopping" button will appear to zip you back to the previous page. When finished, click the top cart icon to checkout. It's a bit of a different process than before, but we feel it's a major upgrade to loading one giant page of heavy scripts and separate windows.

Matt, Michelle and I will remain on high alert during the launch, but we're hoping this will be a smooth transition for all, and in the end a fun experience. As always, leave feedback below, or email web@glyos.com, and thank you for the support. -Marc

Green Dreams

Direct from the Edge of Space, Phase Pheyden has once again materialized, now available in 100% official Bit Fig form over at the Culture Pirates shop!

Clear green has been a long time favorite for both Marcus and I, so seeing the Mega Bit Pheyden mold run in this familiar hue is a really special thing for both of us. A permanent position on my desk has been granted to this little green dream.

DCon Details 2016

Designer Con is upon us and we're super psyched to invade Pasadena for a third year in a row! The convention runs from Saturday, Nov. 19th 9am - 6pm to Sunday Nov. 20th 10am - 5pm and is located at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Echoing the floor plan from last year, we'll once again be surrounded by our extended family, featuring the united super powers from Tokyo, RealxHead, Studio Uamou, Skull Toys, Punk Drunkers and Goccodo!

The Glyos family will be represented by Marty "Nemesis" Hansen (Kabuto Mushi #1001), John Kent (Toyfinity #1002) Spy Monkey Creations (Battle Tribes #1003), Jesse DeStasio (Knights of the Slice #120), Mark Vasquez (Mystical Warriors of the Ring #1001), Nemo Campisi (Nemo's Factory #1002), Ben Spencer (Galaxxor #1001) and the newest addition to the mayhem, Pat Bussey (Bio-Masters #1001).

Holding down the Glyos compatible 3D printing fort will be the ABS master, Pj Bartlett (Spaced Out Design #1002). Pj has been practically living at the shop over the last few months while refining and building his new selections. Those in attendance will not be disappointed with the results of his latest experiments. He's even printed a few vehicles!

Also showcasing his own range of 3D printed figures in row 1000 will be the architect of the extraordinary Mecha Zone himself, David White (#1005)! David continues to innovate and inspire with both his 3D work and 2D illustrations. A monster talent, indeed.

Deep, deep thanks goes out to Ben Goretsky of 3DRetro for all his hard work this year and for allowing all of us to have the opportunity to come together in such an excellent location. We also want to thank the legendary October Toys for always supporting us throughout the years. We've shared a great decade of friendship together and we look forward to 10 more!

For those of you who make the show, please swing by booth #1002 and say hello!

Designer Con 2016

Stay tuned for more details this week.

Bio-Masters Among Us

Prepare for a menacing new addition to the Glyos ranks! After 2 years in development, Pat Bussey's Bio-Masters line has crossed over into full production with the arrival of his 21 part, fully Glyos compatible Bio-Mass Monster figure!

Pat is currently offering a special pre-order for the first 3 deluxe editions of his cosmic creature (due in early January), as well as an opportunity to grab a copy of his upcoming DCon Type Zero exclusive and limited T2 Test Shots (both with available in-hand for shipping at the end of November).
All pre-orders are set to wrap up this Friday, November 11th.

When I was first shown this project by the GodBeast himself (who has been Pat's sculpting collaborator and molding/casting mentor), it immediately made a strong impression. The direct result of Pat's killer design sense and Marty's refined sculpting skills, the Bio-Mass Monster lands itself in a unique category, showcasing a form that's unlike the more bipedal "two- legged humanoid" style production figures we've been producing since 2007. Pat's admiration of Lovecraft, He-Man and the monsters of his youth have culminated into something that touches on all of those sources yet still remains fresh and exciting.

I've been lucky to have worked on the production side of the Bio-Masters project over the greater part 2016, and want to personally congratulate both Pat and Marty on never losing sight of bringing this new figure to life. New precedents were set during the process of making the Bio-Mass Monster's tooling, and many months were spent pushing the limits to give this new creation a strong "build" lifespan.

I hope you try giving this creepy critter a spin and allow it to slither into your imagination... and flap, and claw and bite as well!

Thanks for the awesome illustration, Pat! The Glyninjas have been training hard for this showdown (but maybe not training hard enough)!
